Parent & Family Forum - Institutional Equity and Community Engagement | January 2024

In June of 2022, Dr. Emilio Solano became the Assistant Provost of Institutional Equity and Community Engagement at Willamette University. Why is this role important at Willamette? What is the work of a Provost’s office and where is it situated within the administrative work of the institution? How does Willamette support diversity, equity and inclusion for our campus community?
These questions will be answered and more as Emilio shares the results of our recent campus climate survey, the charge and work of the university-wide DEI committee, Willamette’s commitment to faculty recruitment and retention, and his recent community engagement efforts. The ways in which DEI work is happening all over campus will also be highlighted.
