    We rode this trail a couple of months ago, a sunny day but cold in the shade and tunnel. We left from Mooball where we hired e-bikes from Northern Rivers Bike hire as they were much cheaper than the bike hire places in Murwillumbah.
    Had a leisurely ride to Murwillimbah where we had lunch, then rode back stopping at Hosanna for a cold drink.

    The white sign with 933 means 933km from Sydney central station.

      The Bentley to Casino stage is supposed to be finished soon, so surely they should have the whole thing done within the next 5 or 10 years, especially with the numbers they have got on the first stage which are way higher than they expected. After your BVRT video, I went and did it and met a 73 year old going the other way (uphill) on a little folding bike from Ipswich to Hervey Bay to be there for the opening of the short rail trail they have done up there - so I reckon there is hope for us!

    Great video! I once took the XPT train from Sydney to Brisbane, bit from Murwillumbah to Brisbane was on a bus. Apparently Mt Warning is closed to climbers at the moment, possibly perminantly.

    Thanks for making this video, really enjoyed it. It is a ride I want to do. Haven't gravel experience. Tyre choice, I have 38mm Specialized Pathfinders, will these be OK?

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  2 месяца назад

      I only ride mountain bikes, which have 2.6inch or 66mm tires. But I'd think that 38mm should work fine as a gravel wheel. It's all compacted pathways so the terrain is actually great to ride.

    Great ride! I went on it in winter last year, absolutely stunning weather and scenery. I am not sure how they are gonna get the trail through Byron bay with the train still running there. Also that marker you mentioned at the beginning of the video, represents 933km from central station (so basically Sydney), pretty cool!

      Thanks.... I'm only showing short snippets of my journey and I greet a lot of people. We are a friendly bunch here, but you gotta remember - there's always a lot of people wherever I ride, and after a while you simply want to focus on riding, not greeting every person you pass.

    This is a trail I know well, only cycled it once but walked it often - even while it was being built. That longer tunnel at Burringbah has micro bats and glow worms ... easy to spot if there isn't much noise or lights. Thanks

    Awesome video. I recently discovered that this track exists. I am in SEQ ( Ormiston ) and am keen to try this on one of my bikes.
    I have a commuter bike with fast rolling street tires and a trail hardtail mtn bike with some chunky slow rolling trail tyres.
    May I please ask, how much of the trail is gravel. Could I use my commuter bike for this track, or just bring my hardtail and persevere with the slower rolling offroad tires?

    • @jelbuilderfilms
      @jelbuilderfilms  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks.... Only the first 2kms is bitumen, and then it's hard-compacted gravel/dirt for the rest. I used my 29inch Mtb that has chunky Mtb trail tyres as that's what I ride with everywhere... I'm used to it. A lot of riders use their roadbikes that are fitted with gravel tyres for these types of rail trails, but I prefer my Mtb. With your commuter bike, you'll have to determine whether it's capable of riding adequately on dirt terrain, and that you're happy with how it handles, and if so, then it'll be absolutely fine for this trail. Hope that helps 👍
