Honeypot!!!!! HATS OFF! for creating such gems for developers, your channel is like Netflix for developers! Also, I will be waiting patiently for the React Documentary 😍
i find this so interesting as a new computer science student and wannabe iOS developer
"Patiently?" I doubt.
Huge if true
I'd love to see ones for Docker and Kubernetes too! :D
react documentary just got released just 1 day ago😁- hope you've seen it
Beautiful!! This is officially the first coolest and nerdiest software documentary ever!
I disagree: ruclips.net/video/SzKEi5AHZf4/видео.html
However, it is a very nice documentary.
It's amazing what a bunch of highly motivated engineers can achieve.
Oof.
Never imagined coding tech could have a documentary. Cool!
Why not? It's the foundation for the world at this point.
What? There has always been documentaries for programming and coding technologies. Literally documentaries about IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Bell Labs, etc are all over and talk about programming languages, hardware, etc.
The Social network
@@Warpgatez Even netscape had a documentary :p
Can’t praise this documentary enough. First of its kind, not too nerdy, inspiring. Gentle music, transition shots and silence used wisely. I love that the focus stayed on the developers, not the person asking the questions. It showcases how an amazing group of engineers put in the hard work and creativity to solve a problem and make the solution public.
Thanks for the love! We have a bunch more coming down the pipeline that I'm sure you'll enjoy!
Remember when GraphQL was cool?
19:44 This is such a beautiful shot. I'd never think that computer monitors could make such nice diffuse lighting, the balance of the subject against the colors of the background. There are so many little pieces like this all through this documentary series. I'm a dev and of course, I love the content of the story telling but, the art isn't left behind. It makes the story sing.
As a filmmaker it's encouraging to hear when people notice the little details of your work 😉Thanks, man! Comments like these keep me going 🙏
I've watched all the Docs. And a bunch of the mini-docs. They are so good. The Ember.js one was especially touching to see the community aspect. They are really well done. They do such a good job of humanizing the developers behind these projects. It's easy to just see them as github projects, pull requests, stars, twitter comments and even speakers at conferences. These docs get to heart of who these people are outside the context of code or just technical problems.
Do you have any other work I could see? I'm actually curious about that and maybe even some behind the scenes/making of stuff. You guys are flying around the world, talking to interesting people. Just a thought. Keep challenging yourselves and making beautiful work.
@@slackstation We are working on a ton more documentaries - bigger productions this time. I can tell you a little bit of secret insider information if you like: The next major project we are working on is so big that it will have to be split into two parts, and for it we will be collaborating with a company who's name rhymes with Doogle 🤫 don't tell anyone!
Behind the scenes isn't really something we do, but I sometimes post behind the scenes video to my personal Instagram. You can find it here if you're interested:

Holy shit great content and i agree is like a netflix documentary for developers with good quality, great to find this hidden gem on youtube
Excellent! You are doing a really good job in making these documentaries that showcase stories and developers on their way to becoming rockstars. Thank you.
Wow, thanks Prashanth! Happy you liked it and see what we're trying to do 😍
This is what engineering is. Love this stuff!
if in the world of javascript everyone will make a movie about their own framework, then you can compete with hollywood
😂😂
Lol at that throughput you can compete with Bollywood!
:))))
Woah, so interesting! I am 4 years late to this, and I can say that GraphQL is an industry-standard. Congratulations to the creators and the community!
Well done. The best programming language documentary until now
Love the power of open source and community growing this.
Triple oof.
What I admire the most about the guys is that each of them admires the other
I have been waiting for this for a month!
Hope it was worth the wait! 🙏
Outstanding work!!
10:14
You know this documentary was made by developers when there's footage of real GraphQl code being written in the background instead of stock footage of random HTML/JavaScript written in a dark room by a guy wearing a hoodie
This channel should blow up fast. Fantastic job.

Where in the world I was, that I had no idea of this beautiful channel!!! Thank you, Honeypot for creating such brilliant documentaries!!
💛
The best moments are the ones with the guys talking together. Great and lively brains. Well done!
Super cool!
Waiting for a React documentary as well 😍
And ReactOS also :)
Excellent documentary! I love the fact that these developers took the initiative to engineer something that could be extended far beyond the bounds of their initial requirement. It shows tremendous creativity, which is my favourite part of being a developer.
Quadruple oof.
Wow!! I feel like watching an inspiration movie!!
we'all have a magic Toolbox (laptop). Isn't it amazing that we can build/make whatever we want with it??
Thanks for the documentary!!
I don't know how to feel about this... it's SOOOO nerdy for there to be a GraphQL documentary, but it's even more so to like it as much as I did. Great work, keep them coming!
Aiming for an Oscar here?
Hey, Lucas! Seems like you're dealing with a lot of complicated emotions here but we appreciate the support :) and we will definitely keep them coming! Keep an eye out for more!

How about gRPC?
Dope! Graphql is awesome.
Cheers!

came looking for this comment, here you have my up vote
java to javascript is like car to carpet.
Oopsy. Developer centric but makes a rookie mistake.
The next target by oracle...but...😂
How did you notice that???
Best ever! Currently using Apollo Federation with Serverless framework to build graphql serverless microservices. GraphQL has really made requesting data a breeze.
We really need this Java:The Documentary
Yeh but we'd have to bring guys out of retirement for that...
@@Mark-jk1jv why not
I've been wanting this type of content my whole career
Just !
Fall in love with this channel content!
Awesome documentary 😍
Hope to see Next for : babel
These documentaries are really empowering and motivates a lot. Plus it gives the creators a small but genuine light about their work.
They're so great to make too, we get to meet some really interesting people and the stories they tell us are indeed so empowering! Thanks for the nice words, we've got one about Vue.js coming up next but will keep that in mind ;) Why Babel exactly? What do you find so interesting about it?
@@Honeypotio vue. Really when,?
Babel is the project which is kind of backbone for all modern web projects. And would really love to see Sebastian's behind the scene story and their success story and also Henry 's story of joining them
ANIKETH Saha vue is more and more interesting product than Babel.....
@@AkkayHT228 I didnt use vue till now so I dont know how much interesting it is. But for me babel will Always be on #1 for js tool list. Followed by react, webpack, TS etc.
Need more documentary like these no matter on what they make
@@anikethsaha5064 Babel its just transpiler & polyfiller its not big tool..... Vue is easiest framework ever, one week and you can get a job or create big SPA from scratch
I enjoyed this kind of documentary, amazing.
This is so amazing! Better than Vice! Nice job team!
Thanks! We worked really hard on this project. Glad you liked it!
@@Honeypotio Yes indeed, I did really like it! I'd like to say again: this is better than the content from Vice. And also you were able to meet the creators in person!... Lucky!
@@JosiahMcGarvie Better than Vice? That's very flattering of you! And yes, it was a honour to work with the creators for this documentary.
@@Honeypotio (¬‿¬)
Thats a generalization. VICE has some really intriguing stuff
If an idea makes sense to people, and it just clicks with their mind and they can see the vision, they're actually willing to do a lot of work, in order to see it executed and then share their work, and it's a pretty remarkable thing to see.
Thanks, Nick.
Thank you!
Amazing documentary and thank you to everyone has been involved in such an amazing piece of technology. I love graphQL
Honeypot, you are incredible for doing these. So inspiring.
Amazing documentary. Just a head's up, the CC at 10:47 should be "self-immolate", not "self-emulate" for the hearing (or anything) -impaired
This is the best tech documentary I've ever seen.
This Documentary is just Awesome 🤩
Cant wait Angular Documentary
You're doing a great filming, big pleasure to watch).
Big Thanks!!! Love it!!! You are awesome
Love it
Nice to see that Dan Schafer is a flight simmer! Warms my heart, and I will remember it fondly every time I use GraphQL :)
Amazing to see how graphql came into existence. Thanks for so much for creating this
When the same folks are involved in GraphQL and React... wow!
Is this beneficial only for mobile clients or would it benefit server to server communication too ?
This documentary is truly a work of art. And years from now, it will still be. Thank you for making something so incredibly emotional and powerful. PLEASE make a React version....React has been totally transforming the industry...would love to see whatever you make next. Thank you..
Thanks for the love, Armaan!
We have a documentary on one of the big JS frameworks (not React) coming out soon, we are very excited about it! React would make a great story too, any other suggestions?
@@Honeypotio what about Django or Ruby on Rails? 😏
@@ТемиржанЮсупов We have a lot of cool stuff coming down the pipeline, not ruling anything out 😏
Amazing amazing documentaries
I have to say thank you guys for this, I love the format to tell the story, I love the professionalism to film the documentary. great job!
Amazing documentary, totally loved it!!!
Awesome job, these are always really entertaining to watch! You should do nodejs or reactjs next!
Thanks Marco! We've got one about Vue.js coming up next, we recently went to Shanghai to film with Evan You at VueConf and will be speaking to a few more people in the community before releasing that later this year. Why nodejs or reactjs in particular? :)
@@Honeypotio Because they are popular and many people use it but dont know the origins of those technologies and why they were created.
Honeypot I am excited that you are making one for Vue.js!
I think it would be interesting to learn more about the origins and reasons why nodejs became so popular and what issues it was trying to solve. I think learning more about react’s past would also be interesting!
Node.js would be super excited! Why? Because it was a technology that changed the industry of backend development. I got excited when I saw Ryan Dahl's Node.js presentation.

One of the funniest thing is that they purposely aged photos like is it is from 80s or 90s but it was just from a few years ago 😂
QLL doc's!!! It's so chill and relaxing to watch something that is technical but easy to consume. Why I wasn't seen your channel before?!?!

next level documentry about graphql startup
I just started my career as a Software Engineer and landed my first job a few months back (actually, the release date of this video was the same as my start date! :D ). GraphQL is something that is new to me amongst everything else in this developer world, however, GraphQL itself really sparked my interest.
