  • Well, we've had some torrential rain in the North East of England and it has taken its toll on my beautiful clumps of Daisies that grow in the narrow border outside my garden wall. So today I'm going to cut them all right back down to the ground and I'm confident that I'll get a second flush of flowers in the next few weeks. Hope you enjoy the video 😀.

It’s amazing how much grows out of such a narrow strip of soil! Daisy roots are very hard to dig up, but it’s so much fun to share pants with someone starting a new garden. 🌸💕😊

I know! And the clumps that I put in her border are all coming away. It's lovely to see and she's thrilled. 🥰

The rain and wind is so frustrating when it ruins all our efforts😠. Always makes me smile when I see John and his pick axe in his videos😂

It's so frustrating when the weather damages our displays but the plants soon bounce back. It seems like you had all the rain Diane. We've just had fine rain. As Peter Kay would say, "the sort that soaks you through!".

They do indeed Wendy. Thank goodness. I've certainly been soaked many times recently 😀.

Hello from another north east gardener. I too have found my way publishing videos on RUclips so I feel your pain with the relentless wet weather we’ve had over the last year. You’ve just popped up on my homepage today and I too have a white garden, they do seem to be growing in popularity. I’ll keep a check for your future videos, happy gardening 🧑‍🌾

Hi there. It's lovely to hear from you. I've just had a quick look at your thumbnails and your white garden looks a lot, LOT, bigger than mine 😁. I've just returned from a garden centre up by Rowlands Gill with some new additions for it, as it is looking a bit tired now and is in need of a freshen up. I look forward to having a browse through your videos tonight. Diane x

The colour in your garden is amazing for this time of year! We’ve had so little rain and temps in the 30’s, most things have shrivelled up and died 😕

Thank you. I forget, whereabouts do you garden? I so admire gardeners such as yourself who tend plants in extreme temperatures. It must be so frustrating and exhausting for you as well as the plants. I hope it cools down soon for you. Diane 😊

@@thedown-to-earthgardener I’ve recently moved to Suffolk Diane (from the Midlands, where it was very wet!). Apparently, they’ve had the hottest temps in the country here for the last couple of years. Thankfully, I didn’t plant much new stuff out this year, but most of my pots and tubs have suffered quite a lot. I’ve watered as much as I can, but the wind & hot weather has dried things out really fast! Other than that, it’s a beautiful place to live, and the farmers have had a good wheat crop with all the sunshine! 😊

So pleased to hear that you're loving your new home and the surrounding area. I know what you mean about the dry wind! It's probably a good thing that you are taking your time with the planting until you get to know your new garden environment. I'm far more used to harsh, salty winds in my garden. Can't get used to these warm winds that dry everything out in a matter of hours. I watch a couple of women who garden in the States and they are all about the mulch. I think we are going to have to adopt their policies. Good luck with your plants for the rest of the summer. Diane x
