ඩී. කුමාරගේ මහතා නාට්‍ය රචකයෙකු වන අතර බොම්බුවල මහා විද්‍යාලයේ විශ්‍රාමික ගුරුවරයෙකි. නාට්‍ය හා නාට්‍ය විෂය භාරව සිටි. ඔහුගේ නාට්‍ය මෑත අතීතයේ පැවති නාට්‍ය තරඟවලදී අවස්ථා ගණනාවක සාර්ථකත්වය අත්කර ගත්තේය. ඔහුගේ නාට්‍ය රාජ්‍ය අන්තර් පාසල් නාට්‍ය උළෙලේ පළමු ස්ථාන 3 ක්, දෙවන ස්ථාන 2 ක් සහ තෙවන ස්ථාන 2 ක් ලබා ගෙන ඇත. ඔහු සෑම විටම රාජ්‍ය ළමා නාට්‍ය උළෙලේ පළමු ස්ථාන 3 ක්, දෙවන ස්ථානයක් සහ තෙවන ස්ථානයක් දිනා ගත්තේය. 2004 දී ජනාධිපති සම්මානයෙන් පිදුම් ලැබීය .ඔහු 2006 දී නාට්යකලා ශිරෝමනී සම්මානය, 2008 දී සහිතා ප්‍රදීපා සම්මානය, 2013 දී කලතීර්භභිමනී සම්මානය, 2015 දී කලාභූෂාන රාජ්‍ය සම්මානය සහ 2018 දී විශ්ව කලා කීර්ති සම්මානයෙන් පිදුම් ලැබීය.
මශා සහ වලහා නට්‍ය 8 ශ්‍රේණියේ නාට්‍ය හා නාට්‍ය විෂය නිර්දේශය සඳහා අධ්‍යයනය කර ඇත.
Mr. D. kumarage is a dramatist and a retired teacher from Bombuwala Maha vidyalaya. who was in charge of the subject of Drama and theatre . His dramas achieved success in number of occasions at drama competitions held in recent past. His dramas have secured in 3 first places, 2 second places and 2 third places in the State Interschool drama festival. He always won 3 first places, a second place and a third place in the State Children’s drama festival. He was awarded by the President award in 2004 .He is a recipient of Natyakala Shiromani award in 2006, Sahitha Pradeepa award in 2008 , Kalatheerthabhimani award in 2013, Kalabhooshana state award in 2015 and Wishwa kala keerthi award in 2018.
D. kumarage was written and produced the famous stage dramas like Rukada Rajje , welawakata pissu wagei etc.. Masha and the bear is a drama which one of awarded by State Children’s drama festival. It has studied for syllabus of drama and theatre in grade 8.
