35 and 40mm are my most used primes with the 40mm being my favorite of the two, I never really liked 50mm much either. I would probably only buy a nice fast 50mm prime if I was doing portraits a lot - then I might have 35/50/85/etc Ultimately, since I am mostly shooting landscape I use my zooms the most for that. You can’t always ‘zoom with your feet’ if you are standing on a narrow trail next to a cliff, haha!!
Totally agree-35mm and 40mm are such versatile focal lengths! The 40mm is great because it strikes a nice balance between wide and standard, and I can see why it’s your favorite. I’d love to rent a 40mm lens to try it out one of these days. What’s your go-to zoom lens for those situations?"
@@Qfotolens Since I'm currently using Sony (may get another Nikon at some point though), for landscape I'm mostly using the Tamron 20-40, and a Sigma 100-400. I plan to get the 24-70 f/2.8 GM II sometime soon though (to replace the 20-40). If/when I get a Nikon Z, I'll probably get the 24-120 - I miss that range (from back when I had a D750...)
50, 85, 35 1.8 are my fav. Also have 26 and 40 Nikkor z. 24/120 G and 70/200 and 60 and 100 G all work fine with adapter FTZ. Do not like zooms but will use if necessary.
So 24-70 is best for landscape and events right
It’s a great lens to use not the best but the best lens is the one you have at the moment.
I have both. I still prefer the 24-120 f/4
I'm also a Nikon Photographer and find you and I agree on quite of few things. The Trilogy of lens, plus the f35 1.8 about covers it all for me!
Agree. I think when you move into more landscape photos getting a filter for the 14-24 would be amazing but so expensive
Great review! I would love to see you do a review on the 70mm -200mm lens!
That one is next in working on thank you

Thanks for the reply I was like you before also I hated zoom lens but have come to enjoy them more specially for events.
Can the 105 be used for normal portraits also
Yes it can but due to it being a macro lens it works well. Special with closed ups.
Tamron 35-150mm is a f2-2.8
IV heard a lot of good things about this one.
how obout the 100-400mm?
I have heard amazing things about it. Need to rent or borrow from Nikon one day to test it out.
👍
