    Love that you always focus on making futuristic presentations using the limited tools we have l ike ppt.
    Great as always... Thanks!! Keep it up
    I was thinking of doing something similar but having a hospital with different rooms to show the journey of a patient. But i cant find a hospital environment setup.
    But this basically does what i had in mind

      Perfect idea! You could technically do it with this platform, if you get a 360 degree camera (such as Insta360) and then import the photos into the platform and create the navigation. Of course, that is if you have access to the actual rooms in the hospital that a patient can go through and take the photos. However, if you have (regular, non-360) stock photos of what you want to walk through, you could still create an interactive navigation with triggers in PowerPoint. Great idea though - I am seeing more and more companies focusing on customer and patient journeys - so that's pretty progressive as well.

      PowerPoint Spice that reminds me. What about if we use RUclips 36o videos? Cuz it does have hospital and other buildings tours.
      Is there a way to embed those .?
      We could then add individual animation to the PowerPoint slide as well on top of the video.

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад +3

      Hmmm embedding YT videos is a bit tricky and doesn't work consistently - but if you have a copy of the video on your computer you could embed it into the slide (though I've never tried to add 360 videos to POwerPoint - interesting idea). From there, you could indeed create overlays in PowerPoint. However, it would lose its 360 degree viewability and interactivity because the video would keep playing vs. allowing the viewer to go where he/she wanted to. For a patient journey, that might be ok though since you're presumably wanting to show a linear path. A good compromise might be to add a regular (non-360) video of a patient journey to PowerPoint and then create overlays at key places. You could even break the video into several videos on different slides to make it more manageable / tell your story better. But thanks for reminding me about YT 360 videos - I'll keep thinking about how to potentially leverage them with PPT as well.

      PowerPoint Spice yeah you are right about breaking the videos in parts. Interesting. Im gonna explore this too myself.
      Thanks!

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад +2

      Absolutely - you could cut/paste the video to different slides and then just have each one start where the last one ended. Once you're done, it would probably be good to compress the videos though (at the "info" tab) so that you're not ending up with a gigantic file size. Good luck - thanks again for the comment!

    This is pretty awesome! Thanks a lot for all the time and effort that went into this intro. At the end of the day it's like a glorious PPT background that one can move inside. I think unless one gets a 3D camera and adds fresh custom backgrounds, this can get boring quickly if one uses only the templates that come with BYOND. I'm not 100% convinced if it's worth to present every idea this way (since the congruence between the 3D setting and the subject matter will always be an issue) but it nevertheless presents a great option for at least some subject matters and presentations. Thanks again. Good job!

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the comment, Technical Writing! It indeed took me FOREVER to make this video, partially because I got in at the beta test stage, so the platform and options kept changing on me (for the better!) as I was making it. There is also so much more I could have said so narrowing it down took a while. I completely agree - that a) once 360 cameras are more popular, it will be a lot more interesting to use your own photos vs. the pre-built ones - and b) absolutely this isn't for every presentation (or even close) - it would have to fit the theme well and look more compelling than a regular PPT. Otherwise, its not worth the extra complication. However, if you find a place where this could work - you will for SURE stand out. So yes, a bit ahead of its time right now, but those who learn to design in this way will have a huge leg up for when VR is more widely adopted.

      I know, I can't believe they closed down the trial accounts - i would say that the best alternative is Learnbrite, where you can really customize a lot of things, including avatars, etc. (slightly different, but very feature rich)

    Why are they afraid to show us the prices?

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад

      Hi David - I don't think it's so much that they're afraid to show prices - but more that there are so many different things that go into a quote (how many rooms your experience is, how much customization, etc.) that it would be tough for them to publish standard pricing (many companies do it this way as well). That said, I would also love to see a ballpark range of their headset app costs - so I totally get where you're coming from. Thanks for the comment!

    I think Byond have changed their model. I wasn't able to access a free trial. All I could do was request a demo. Shame cause this looked like just the thing I was looking for. Have you any other suggestions for producing a VR presentation?

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  5 лет назад

      Hi there - sorry for the delay. I would say InstaVR is probably closest in terms of the full functionality here, though it is 300/month for the non-trial version (though that is free). If you want to make a simple walking tour with a few hotspots, Kuula is good or iStaging for a sleeker experience (though that one is 30/month after your first 3 panoramas).

    question, How can I make transparency to an image using a gradient i.e. a picture that becomes more transparent with its length

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад

      If you want to do it in PowerPoint, you cannot make it transparent with a gradient. You could fill a shape with an image (picture fill --> Clipboard, for example) -- then you could manipulate the transparency of the image. However, you would not be able to do it as a gradient.

      Yes, absolutely! This is already starting to change the way real estate presentations are done, such as a few listings I've seen on Realtor.com. Once everyone has 360 degree photo capability on their phones, they'll become even more popular.

    This is cool, but a little disappointing that its for 60 days only. Then we likely have to work with an annoying salesman who won't give you a quick price, but keeps hounding you. I love the PowerPoint presentations because they are free items, but this seems more like a sales pitch for this company to make sells. Will be good for a few projects, if you have time to learn how to use expertly before the 60 days runs out. Thanks for sharing PowerPoint Spice, but I fear you are venturing away from your cool free features you have always delivered. That has been a key factor in my following.

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the feedback, Alexa! Yes, I hear you on the free trial (I personally like it more when free trials have basic features but are unlimited). However, you could potentially use one email to test it out and then use another to extend the trial. This is all very new so it's indeed not as practical as it could be at the moment, but I just wanted to highlight a potential for future presentations. And by the way, I am not affiliated with these guys (just excited to have found their platform) - though I'll probably share this video with them in case it's useful to their other customers.

      Thank you for addressing. I owe you an apology as the way I thought I worded the above and the way it can come across in text was not quite what I intended. I appreciated the view of the future and hope we can all find ways to use this as well, for free with whatever mechanism! I assume you've used Blender before. You can do some of these items in Blender and it is free. However it is a much higher learning curve involved. Just thought I'd send your way just in case you weren't aware of it and wanted to explore further. Thank you again for sharing these tips with us. We all know how much time it takes and the level you deliver is far above what most of us can do. Thank you again, I very much appreciate it.

    • @powerpointspice
      @powerpointspice  6 лет назад

      Thanks, Alexa - I always appreciate feedback, so thank you for taking the time to share. I haven't tried Blender yet but will keep that in mind and check out, as I've heard others using that as well. Thank you for the tip! And by the way, my next video (or two) should be on pure PowerPoint stuff, so hopefully that will offer some more practical (and directly applicable) tricks. :)

      Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with them - they keep opening it and closing it - and last time I checked, they didn't even have a login button at all on their website. I would recommend using InstaVR - which is similar and much more established, and has clear pricing.
