I don't understand why projectors have such terrible latency. Especially DLP ones. The micromirror device has almost instant response so in theory the latency shouldn't be that bad.
I had the lenovo tablet with a built in digital laser projector. Even though it wasn't the brightest or the highest resolution it was such a universal projector compared to a budget 1080p conventional projector now. If anything brightness was on par between them but the focusing range and keystoneing was super powerful on the lenovo tablet. I remember projecting it fully on a 20ft shipping container as a screen and you could focus till crispy where as the modern one only goes to about 100inches. I Would love to see a modern portable 1080p dlp with a phone app for digital focus and keystoning with built in Google TV so it can be run off of a mobile hotspot and powerbank
Dan just makes me calm. I need a lofi mix with quotes from him. Like, the whole world is burning around us currently but if he tells me its all cool im solid.
@@deathchimp2 Samsungs largest OLED is the 595B at 65" at about $2000 I believe you were looking at their Q60B which is an 85 in QLED at $1600, while it still will deliver a great viewing experience it is a different technology and definitely doesnt achieve the true blacks and dynamic range of an oled. While the projector shown here is not a good example of products available, Linus' epson ls12000 produces a quality comparable to mini led which would cost multiple times more while also only providing a smaller maximum screen size so while not perfect for everyone projectors definitely still have a place at home theaters.
Also worth noting that there are screens solely made for short throw projectors that really do help more than normal ones to keep ambient light away. So this projector could potentially look a bit better.
Well, this was quite a small amount of information about the image quality of the projector. I know, it's just a short circuit video, but it left me with the desire to know more. And see more videos with Dan - great hosting :)
Dans videos continue to be my favorite lately. Great reviews and insight that you would really want, and also adds a great personalable spin to the process.
If you place producing quality content above optimizing watch times, a price point or price range, for whichever country (pick one, US or Canada would be most logical), should always be the first info we get when possible (If the price isn't available yet, just say that). Please start saving our time.
its adorable how nervous dan is. Someone should make him start the show by screaming, "What time is it? Short Circuit TIME! I can't hear you! SHORT CIRCUIT TIME!"
I have never understood once why anyone ever would want a projector. I just see screens as pure better in every facite, but one. Size. Fun fact you can get closer to a screen and it will be perceived bigger.
Projectors are realy unique, I had a special weekday ritual for me. I had an hp mediasmart pc and an optima 3lcd dlp projector and i'd watch Inuyasha early morning before school at like 5 in the morning. I was an early riser as a kid but now i'm just a night owl 😆
Pretty sure the 1920x1080*2.00 just means that it's 3840*2160, but with a 2x scale factor. Like they render the UI of youtube at the 1080p size, and scale it up. The video itself seems to play at the full resolution.
The thing with "Viewport resolution" is that the Android TV UI is rendered on 1080p (RUclips App, Play/Pause icons, thumbnails etc) but the actual video is in 4K, IF the manufacturer has implemented a video pipeline with a decoder being done on their chip etc. P.S. Dan is great, i love watching him, but he looks a bit anxious.
Something to mention is Ultra short throw projectors should have different screen because of the direction of light refraction from the screen. Atleast thats what the marketing on the projector screens I bought said.
Love a Dan video. He has a great confident delivery and get to the point with the facts but making it fun to watch. I just like his style a natural on camera.
I don't think Dan would get upset if someone set him on fire. He is so chill - Love it. Next time Linus has to call tech support for firmware on his light switches, he should make Dan call - he would stay calm as a 🥒.
UST projectors are awesome but you guys should really have an ALR screen setup for testing them. Yes Dan seems super nice but I think someone more knowledgeable about the the device or just projectors in general would have went a long way in improving the video.
I enjoyed the video, but was constantly saying to myself that I wish they would turn off the lights. Dan is very nice and having him lit is great, but this is a video showing off the projector. It'd be nice to see it in the ideal environment.
One thing bugged me throughout... It's an ULTRA Short Throw projector... Short Throw Projectors can't sit that close for a picture that size (it's also reflected in the name; UST ). Otherwise, great video 👍
Dan has strong dad vibes.

Well, yes Dan. A 150 foot screen would indeed be "pretty huge."
I noticed that too 🤣.
About 150 foot I reckon
And you can still stand over the projector
It can never be too big!!!
Pretty average for a drive-in movie theater...
2000 bucks is a decent chunk of change, holy moly
Short throw projectors have always been pretty expensive. The price for this one is not unexpected or unusual.
Not for Short throw projectors
I literally opened the video. Saw this comment and said “definitely can’t afford that, no point of watching” and just exited😂
For 2K, 30 ms is pretty bad latency I would argue
@@PanicPlayDate projectors tend to have bad latency. I wouldn't get one primarily for games.
I’ve always wanted a projector growing up, but then I realized the horrors of input latency. Not to mention the block levels.
that is more gaming problems then movies.

Have you checked out the Formovie Theater? Or if lag is REALLY important then the epson stuff will all work like the 5050ub.
Dan is a great host, I hope he shows up more
sound systems are his strong point i think. hes started doing a lot of speaker reviews because he knows what he's talking about
i dont, hes kind of boring
I don't even care about projectors or speakers, I'm just here for Dan
I always enjoy a video with Dan
I do aswell. But how does he know about my grandmothers projector ownership status? 🤨
Yeah, I put them on when trying to sleep.
I love Dan's chill yet spicy vibes. Seriously a perfect balance of energy that sneaks up on you and then smacks you in the face with a sick burn.
6:52 man, dan is the funniest dude without trying. his delivery is raw.
I laughed so hard I had to stop and recover.
I'm gonna do a bold assumption, I think he's been alot on 9gag at it's prime days.
That killed me XD

I believe this would look better on an ALR screen in all conditions. That performance in the light is noticeable. Unless I’m missing something.
Looking at Amazon, you can get an 85" Samsung 4k OLED for $1,600. I have to believe that's going to look better in every single circumstance
