Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
The defamation trial began Monday in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, with jury selection completing on the same day. Thank you! As someone who has been with an addict, I know first hand he was never abusive in any way to me. Oddly enough, he was one of the kindest and most gentle people I have been with and we are still close friends to this day.
It doesn't. But it's called "poisoning the well". Basically they are trying to establish one negative quality so that the jury is more likely to believe in other negative qualities.
Kate's recollection of seeing Johnny with her son was so sweet and you could tell it really touched Johnny that her son still has the guitar pick. I loved how she was no nonsense with Amber's lawyer but was completely amicable with Johnny's lawyer. It's evident that she isn't in awe of him for his celebrity, she respects him. It isn't about like or dislike to her, it's about respect and that respect is earned. His witnesses aren't there because he is Johnny Depp, they are there because he is Johnny. It's lovely to see how much people love him.
agreed. this sense was very evident with this particular woman you speek of but of you look closely enough its evident with nearly every person who has been brought up for questioning.
That moment was tear jerking. To see the smile on both their faces at a time of hardship, was very uplifting, if only for a single second.

According to her testimony Amber was demeaning, verbally abusive in addition to undercompensating her for a job she probably did well. If I felt trapped in a job due to financial straights/scheduling for childcare and had to deal with Amber's abuses I wouldn't be farting flowers with a smile on my face either. I think her testimony said a lot about what type of employer Amber is, and we got a wider glimpse at her character and her treatment of those Amber feels are below her. imo, her tone with Amber's lawyer was perfect. He sounds like a dingus.

I learned from these testimonies that JD is a kind soft spoken generous man and Amber is an evil manipulative woman. My heart goes out to JD. I really feel for the guy.

Just going to say I wish Ms. James was a BFF of mine. She was all no nonsense and she finally called out Amber's lawyer for trying to put words in people's mouths and twist their words. He's been trying to do that with all the witnesses. Glad she's getting the paycheck she deserves now and hope she is being treated better as an employee.
She did well but that’s the point of cross exam. Lawyers ask leading questions during cross and it’s common practice. Johnny’s lawyers lead too when it’s their turn

When the psychologist said “she would rather fight with him then not have him around at all” the case should be closed right there! Very clear that she yet again would rather be in a legal battle with him then not have him at all. She looks like a bad child sitting there proud that he has to sit through this with her.

And 2) if a therapist plays referee for them, how will they learn to mediate for themselves? Idk what kind of therapists you’ve seen but it’s more complex and detailed than how you’re characterizing it. Unless you have 2 masters, a phd and 30 plus years of experience as well to be making such a bold claim?

I thought she has been extremely fair and unbiased. I have read numerous comments that claim she is on Heard's side because she has overruled many of the plaintiff's objections, but she had also sustained quite a few as well.

That is exactly what these assistants do, it's in their job descriptions. They are expected to be available 24/7, there are assistants working for big stars working even harder than Kate explained. It's not a glamouris job.
It's very clear that they had a toxic relationship and both parties made mistakes. But for her to portray herself as this victim and make him look like this monster is so unfair and disgusting. She did so many awful things to him. He's obviously a good person deep down inside with a lot of demons; she's just a selfish, conceited, and fame-hungry gold digger. She picked the wrong guy to screw over.
She's doing exactly what narcissists do. They can't change. They play the victim all the time they don't know how to feel real love only lust and they use people until they can't use them anymore. Then they go on to the next person they can use. Usually a richer person than the previous one.
He has always admitted to using drugs and wanted to get sober but she instigated and started fights and made him use more and sink deeper into drugs. Poor Johnny- she chose to NOT HELP HIM

I took note of that right away!!
As a woman and a DV survivor in my first relationship of 7 years, when I left I wanted zero to do with my partner. I just wanted to be rid of him. I recently broke off yet another relationship with someone a lot like Amber, more narcissistic then physically abusive, but it was starting to lean in that direction I started seeing the signs and because I had been in a relationship previously I was able to leave after only 4 years, but when I did leave I didn’t ask for anything. I didn’t even ask for child support. I left all our belongings and told him he could have them. To this day both of them have tried has to get back with me and mend our relationship but I refuse, not because I’m proud, but because i am very scared of what they might do to me or my children. I also do not even open that door because the minute I do something they don’t like I feel like they would make my life miserable.
She wasn’t a victim, if she was trust me when I say. She would be scared of what he would do to her if she did something even close to this. I have been stalked and followed almost run off the road, I have been threatened. I have had stuff thrown at me while in my vehicle from his vehicle. My vehicle has been busted up, broken, hit. He has shown up to my house and tried to come after me. My last ear fiancé sat outside my house and if anyone came over he would speed in the driveway & accuse me of infidelity. They have held me down locked me in my home, Locke me out of my home, wrecked my home, thrown my stuff and my kids stuff outside. Mind you this is all cause I left. This isn’t even a little bit of what I have had to deal with after leaving. Trust me. She wouldn’t be this brave. I’m prideful to, but if you know a narcissist, they mend your mind and twist you up. It’s truly sad and scary. She is the perpetrator!!!!

@@itslily808 my aunt met him when she was in France. She didn't recognise him at first when she asked for the salt from his table, when he gave it to her she realised. They sat and talked a little and she said that he was so down to earth and genuine, very kind and gentlemenly.

I really admire Kate, nothing rattles her and the word "stoic" comes to mind. I love that she pulls the lawyer up all the time and rightly so, he keeps asking the same questions over and over and tries leading her. She won't have it, she is brilliant. As for Amber sitting there trying to look mature and demure, it doesn't work for her, she is just as bad at that, as she is at acting.

I was going to stay impartial as I try when watching any cases. I've never seen a Depp movie but one when he played a writer. As a nurse working trauma for a few decades, it really isn't looking like she wasn't often the one who kicked things off bc she wasn't mature enough to know that she's not his mother or control center in his brain. I wish this talented and lovely man all of the best. Clearly, he has some personal demons that he has struggled with, and again I can but hope that he can put those and this dark relationship behind him. I hope prevailing in this legal action can be a path to that peace that he deserves.

As a person who has lived with a narcissist, I can confirm. Narcissists all have one thing in common: me, me, me. They guilt-trip you into doing what they want, and try to make you feel bad when you say enough is enough. Yes, drugs change people and can make them do horrible things but those things are things you want to do but cant morally or in good conscious when sober. But it also all comes down to personality and how a person is: if they have violent tendencies when sober, it's more likely going to be heightened when under influences. JD seems like a very laid back person and nonviolent so one can only assume. Though, as a viewer, you dont know what happens behind closed doors. But I stand with Johnny. Amber Heard is so many things but a good person isnt one of them.

I feel bad for the one girl who’s testimony was canceled , it’s hard not to see information online . This case is literally everywhere !!! Even with trying to avoid it it’s been popping up on every social media outlet .
I’ve been trying to avoid it so I could watch the whole trial all back to back and form my own opinions based on the trial alone but it was obvious pretty quickly that was impossible because it’s literally everywhere! I don’t watch tv or read the newspaper and am rarely in social media of any kind and I still couldn’t avoid hearing stuff and seeing clips all over the place!
Go back and re-watch that little segment of Amber's legal team right after Gina states that the year she flew to Australia with JD's team was 2015, and you can literally see the fuc*ery going on with Mr. Rottenborn and Eve Barlow. How much you wanna bet that that snake Barlow was monitoring her social media on her phone (which she wasn't supposed to be doing), somehow found out about Gina, and TEXTED Mr. R. from right there behind him! You can literally see the moment that he got the message on his phone and called over that Elaine chick to tell her what happened! 😠And then you can see Harlow and her little group huddling while counsel was in sidebar! They utter hypocrisy is outrageous!
I felt bad for her, too! She was so nervous & trying to help JD & she seemed like a sweet lady! I'm glad they threw out that Eve person!

I saw him help 2 young girls who dropped something, I'm sure he's done that before but you saw how sweet he was to the 2 girls. It shows who he is as a person. Not how Amber describes him.
Same. I just started watching the case too and the first thing I noticed is how he helps his sister, another woman and an older gentleman out of the car. He speaks or waves to the camera man when passing and he waves at fans. From everyone's testimony I've heard so far all I've heard is how nice Johnny is and how much he helped them without asking to be paid back. I really do hope Johnny wins and gets justice. Just like JD's friend Isaac said "AH's lies has affected JD and his family and it isn't fair or right" I wish for him to be able to move on from this and be able to pursue whatever makes him happy.
It’s no shock that JD likes to dabble in illicit substances, doesn’t make him a villain, what I see is this trial is just confirming that he is the generous kind soft soul that we’ve grown up to know and she’s a an evil gaslighter and opportunist. How’s about her throwing food behind her walking into the elevator?!! That’s disgusting!!
And of course she's THAT person who cheaply calls someone out on doing the same drugs they do. RED FLAG she's Lying, trying to get outta a Lie, and that's all she's got, but goes a long way on people who can't handle taking drugs?!!

From a social viewpoint it was grouped with heroin.
But at that time, in Australia, you got TWENTY YEARS for possession of marijuana.
Now, coke is one of the most popular recreational drugs.
Many people will still form opinions of JD based on his drug use, but in that courtroom statistically, 50% will have tried it, up to 10% are semi-regular users, .... and more than a couple of people (the type of people who may be trying to report on a eight hour trial, then have a article ready for the next day, and do it for 6 weeks), are probably on it as they sit in the courtroom and observe the trial.

Angie it has been decades and decades that women's groups have been building a notion or more so a doctrine that female's violence is only a response to male violence. These organizations have been inundating and teaching this notion to Judges, Lawyers, court personnel, therapist, etc., that women are ONLY violent when a man has either conditioned them to be or done something so horrific that the woman had no other recourse. It is all nonsense. Women are sometimes much more violent in so many ways then men. They have got away with being violent and society turns its blind eye (because female violence is harmless) that people like Amber think their violence is to be tolerated and accepted. You can tell by just her expressions in court that she is entitled. Shame on our society. I wonder how she will be violent to her new baby?

It is absolutely hilarious how you can't tell which witnesses are from which party since all of them seem to be benefitting Johnny's case.
All of the witnesses at this point ARE Depp’s witnesses. The plaintiff (Depp) is still presenting its case. Once they rest, then the defendant (Heard) will present its case and call their own witnesses.

All the plaintiff's witnesses are called before the defense. However, if you haven't been keeping up with the trial and watch random clips , I would make that assumption as well.

I can't believe how unprepared Amber Heard's legal team is! How do you show up for court like that? This judge is incredibly patient with them, probably more patient than they deserve.
