This reminds me of my childhood, my grandfather had hundreds of antique engines in various buildings around their property and I grew up attempting to get them running again, most did. Good memories for sure.

hot and cold cycles and dissimilar metals will cause a warp sometimes. especially on the old pot metal stuff when it's bolted solid with no gasket. I usually lap em back flat on my surface plate. Mag is hot :D sure makes your hands tingle when it gets ya

warping pot metal can just happen with age. pot metal before 1940 was really unstable stuff and it does some crazy thing just sitting!
