Yes - nothing has changed with that compared to the 5W model , clean.
Truly it is the end times! I noticed the link points to the GMRS version. Is that just some firmware magic to change it to ham?
The version I received was the GMRS one, now I believe that holding in those button presses works to get the “expand” mode. But if it doesn’t, there is an “INT” version of firmware on their website.
That is the one I got and it tested clean. in the US we have MURS GMRS FRS the talk pod A 36 does all that clean. I learned this from Mike K8MRD he tested one on his channel and APE was shocked. so I had to buy one . tested it. clean ! now that is a great cheap clean radio . the old version is clean as well. just keep it GMRS only. the UHF part was clean. was the 3 meter part. maybe they watched your old video . LOL 73's

Can't remember if I tested the A36 in a previous video, but I have done 12dB SINAD testing before. Good suggestion
@@HamRadioDX Folk seem to get more excited by a 1-2dB increase in Tx power, than say a 2-3dB improvement in Rx sensitivity.
So I reckon sensitivity testing IS worthwhile and perhaps even an article on "Why SINAD?" and what is it good for?
On a marginal link they are equally important, as is possibly the most important... antenna gain. :)

Good to see a Chinese company that ACTUALLY listens to reviewers and customers and corrects the problems. Normally they just say "The hell with it. We sold enough. Stupid Westerners will buy anything as long as we make it cheap enough"
We got one, got it to transmit but still can't recieve
I have a A36P version where it says P and not plus. Is there ANYWAY to turn off the tailing squelch after it receives a transmission? I have other radios on the same frequencies and they don't make ANY sound after getting a transmission, but this one does it with every thing it receives and it's ANNOYING.
Choose the Option 26 in the setting menus and choose 55 or 62.5Hz
@@LilBoyCalledRoy My option 26 in the Menu is DTMF Code, only options are EOT, BOTm Both or Off. None of the other menu options I see have any options for 55 or 62.5.
I'm not sure "illegal" is the right word. Perhaps "90% of Chinese radios are not FCC-compliant" is more accurate, though less clickbait-ier.
In the US government regulations are laws so not really clickbaity at least in the US.
If it's non compliant then it's illegal in that jurisdiction. Not clickbait.

@@kumasu I have a job involved with compliance testing. If the product doesn't meet the requirements, the regulator will not accept it and therefore it becomes illegal to operate. Full stop.
The FCC has to clean up their act of evaluating transceivers that are allowed to be sold in the US. If not, FCC certification is just a paper certificate the manufacturer paid for.
This radio originally had FCC certification for GMRS use - it was perfectly clean on UHF. Good to see they added an extra filter to cover VHF.

Doesn't seem to work with CHIRP.
I didn't test, butboth the 5W and 8W models are listed as supported radios

They have spurious emissions, "illegal" is not the correct word.
