@@TheVoodooMakerwell in the first world war Canada wasn't really a thing nor was our military the Brits used our people who lived in rough poor cold conditions at home as their stormtroopers.
Until the battle of Vimy ridge when the allies couldn't take it and gave command of the next operation to sir Author Currie who secured it with his fellow Canadians. He was well liked for keeping his men both alive and informed, he was the first of the allies forces to employ the tactic of all troops knowing their orders not just the commanding officer. Which allowed the Canadians to keep moving regardless which men fall.

Had to rebrand. Thanks to years of propaganda we believe that stormtroopers were the bad guys, instead of heroic alphas to be honored for their bravery.

The first storm troops were Canadians.
The Germans called them that.
The Canadians were also very ruthless. They took fewer prisoners and when the Germans attempted a Christmas truce the Canadians launched trench raids making it clear that there would be no truce.
The Germans considered them savages.
They were not, the Germans did not call them that and the Germans did not consider them savages. The name comes from a literal translation of Sturmtruppen which as german is, is a very literal word. It just means assault unit and the tactic itself was pioneered by the Germans, not by the canadians. And no, nobody called them Sturmtruppen and while i believe you that they were probably ruthless and all that, they were not known for it.
Also the Canadians would sometimes send cans of food into the enemy trenches, and once they were no longer scared of the cans they would throw tons of grenades in and clear most of the trench
No, the first stormtroopers served the empire!
People give Italy shit but the fact that the aridit were so good at clearing trenches with just a bayonet and a single grenade is bad ass
Every stormtrooper was good at clearing trenches, the fact that italian troops doing what they were supposed to do is a reason for praising them says a lot about their fighting spirit lmao
@@PrvnCoke You take a lot for granted with that statement, no one was really "good" at clearing and taking trenches, otherwise ww1 wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. The german stormtroopers were better at taking trenches than normal units because of their equipment and training i.e submachine guns, pistols, armor etc. The italian arditi are notable because they did the same thing with just knives and grenades, attacking while their own artillery shelled them showing great fighting spirit.
@@abrahamroe5148 you think ww2 was that long because the soldiers were bad? Lmao trenches changed owners all the time and the german barely had any smgs, you get all your knowledge from video games were everyone runs around with smgs, the mp18 was extremely rare in real life
@@PrvnCokenot "all the time".
The problem for the italian soldiers was and will allways be, that their gov is changing sides so often, they just do not know in with direction the enemy is anymore.
Nobody mentioning how incredibly brave (or crazy) these regiments are. Takes some balls to do what they did.
Putting artillery in front of your trench seems like a bold move 😂
That's some Game of thrones season 8 peak right there.
it is mostly symbolism to show that artillery was used first. then the stormtroopers attacked, to be more precise, the stormtrooper started going out of the trench and advanced toward the enemy trench while the bombardment was still ongoing. it was meant to reduce the time delay between the bombardment and the attack to leave the least amount of time to their enemy to regroup and reform a defensive line as unit usually retreated to some shelter during bombardment and rushed back to their position when the bombardment ended. due to that preparatory bombardment were less effective than expected as enough defender survived to fend off any subsequent attack, but the defender were still desorganized by the bombardment and had to recover each time. The stormtrooper's aim was to hit the trench before the defender could reorganize themselves and laid some suppressive fire to prevent them from getting too close.

IT'S A SHOCKTROOP INFILTRATION!
The jagdkommando was developed with the help of the germans if I'm not mistaken, meanwhile the Arditi were formed even before the stormtruppen
All the mentioned examples are completely different from each other.
Austrian Jagdkommandos predate WW1 by 30 years and were employed as single companies, platoons or squads behind enemy lines, not on the frontline. The Arditi meanwhile were classical shock troops that were specialized in assault operations, but were employed just like regular infantry.
German and later Austrian Sturmtruppen were employed for infiltration assaults, which the video fails to show. Essentially they were employed completely opposite to the Arditi by specifically *bypassing* enemy resistance and *not* trying to break the enemy lines.
Yildirim Army Group is group of Ottoman Army in Syira. They are regular infantry troops in Ottoman Army.
This orator's voice should be patented 🏆
Yıldırım also translates to lightning/thunderbolt
And here I was expecting blasters and clones.
Discussing fictional units and their tactics would be interesting though.
They have a channel called wizards and warriors for just that.
*OUT OF THE TRENCHES THE STORMTROOPERS RISE!*
Italian Arditi were very different from German shocktroopers
Luke has been quiet since this video dropped
This video misses the point of stormtroopers, depicting them as litlle more than regular infantry, with just better training and different weapons.
In reality, it was all about combined arms tactics and subordinate initiative.
Yeah. It also falsely conflates Jagdkommandos, Arditi and for some reason an entire Ottoman army group with them. Seems like they're literally just reading the (badly researched) English Wikipedia article on shock troops.
Out of the trenches the Stormtroopers rise!

Lightning, not thunder. Thunder would be "Gök Gürültüsü" (literally "Sky Rumble").

I noticed whenever storm troopers are talked about there’s a distinct lack mentioning the Canadiens. I don’t know if I would consider trench raiders as storm troopers, but I know that the Canadians continued trench trading long after the other Allied powers stopped or reduced the amount of raids.
That's because there's a difference between Sturmtrupen and Stosstrupen. Germans were the storm. Canadians were the lightning!
Now there's a standstill in the war
A repeat of what's been done before

I have heard a few reasons as to why Stormtroopers have bad aim in Star Wars
On some missions orders are to let the enemy flee so you can track them to their headquarters! Alot easier to do if you dont kill them! Hence you wanna make it seem as if you are trying to kill them but purposefully miss your shots! Thats a scheme worthy of someone running an Empire! We gotta remember that the Empire was waging war against a guerilla army so the mission is not to just shred the forces sent to strike you but to uproot the whole resistance!
Second reason is Jedi mind tricks messing with the troopers aim or perhaps pushing their guns slightly so they miss their shots and what shots are not directed elsewhere are blocked by lightsabers
Honestly the fact that they’ve successfully tricked people into believing that they were really trying during the Death Star escape should be taken as proof of just how good they were.
Such a feat is no easy task.
And the fact that throughout the original trilogy, nearly every time that they were sent to wipe out the rebels, they completely steamrolled them.
My great-grandfather was in the artiliry in WWI.
These were often countered with small attachments of Jedi.
God YES! This is the one I’ve been waiting for.

Did you know: German Stormtroppers were trained not only on german equipment but also on allied and enemy equipment. They did that so that the Stormtroopers could use anything ( and i mean anything: small arms, heavy Machine Guns, mortars, even field artillery) to breach and push back enemy forces.
Storm troopers usually started their assault from hidden positions out in no man’s land under cover of artillery and made copious use of grenades to clear mg positions and other hard points to clear the way for the following infantry reserve before assaulting rear positions.
Stoßtrupp means more Pushing-Troop and not Storm-Troop. Yıldırım Army means Lightning Force!
That's what the Germans called the Canadians.
Germans had storm troppers. The British had Canadians. Things went very quickly from "I'm sorry" to "you'll be fuckin' sorry aye"

You know when i saw storm troopers in your title i thought you were talking about star wars 😂😂😂
They fought in close range battles cause as we all know, they weren't able to hit anything with their guns
If I am not mistaken the Russian also had shock troopers during ww1 though they use rarely.
They didn't use rarely. They used shock troop en mass in the Brusilov offensive. And Soviet Union continued the tradition of using shock troop (with mechanized element) in offensive operation .
Interesting
If I am not mistaken the Russians briefly use Storm trooper tactics during one of their offensive around 1917.
That's the shock troop of general Brusilov, contributed in the most successful operation of Russia during WW1.
@@mrmakhno3030 yes now I remember since you mention it. Thanks
The fact that you don’t mention who the German storm troopers called storm troopers (Canadians) is sad. I expect more from a channel like yours
Sabaton also sunk a really cool song about these German special forces
They were allowed to accomplish a goal on themself instead of waiting for orders.
Also they consisted of the most aggressive people the recruiter could find, even criminals.
And they were trained on weapons and tactics of thr enemy so that they could anything they found.
Don't forget about the Aussie diggers
the belgian version of the stormtroopers was simply called "the patrollers" because they where the ones that went out into noman's land and performed raids, intellegence gathereing, prisoner grabs, ambushes etc on the germans
