This video is choked full of stuff I almost didn't know what to name it. It's nice to have so much to share in November when things are pretty much dormant. Enjoy!
    ABOUT ME:
Hello my name is Renee, owner and founder of RB The Garden Nanny and I love what I do as a landscape designer and master gardener. It’s not considered work to me. I look at it as a way of beautifying one landscape at a time. It’s pure enjoyment. There are not many women in this field who not only own their own landscape business but also have a hand in all that is involved. I bring a women’s touch to landscaping.
Welcome to my channel. I look forward to inspiring you in some way through my videos. It"s about getting to know my subscribers. Not just having large subscriber numbers. Please comments, subscribe, like and share. It helps a great deal for us content creators. I appreciate it!

Great video. I see things are coming together. The pops of color(s) bring me joy. I can't wait to see it in the spring. Thanks for sharing.

That’s interesting with the mums and interested in seeing if it works. I do that with pelargoniums. I really like those large pots. That nandina is gorgeous. That red would look striking in the new pots.

Hey Monica! Yes, I can't wait to see if works as well -- that will be a game changer. Can't wait to fill those large pots. The Nandina is so striking -- nothing like different colors all throughout the season. Thanks for watching.

Fig trees & an Olive? Wow, I'm so impressed and excited for you, Renee! Delicious Figs & healthy Olive Leaf Tea in your future!
And look at you - fearless with that root pruning! Great job, and those golden Amsonia leaves are gorgeous! 👏👏👏
Nandina are one of my favorite plants, too. You're right - their fall colors are amazing. ❤
I have hundreds of purple bearded irises in containers, too. Never thought of selling them - just wanted to be sure to have plenty to take with me if I end up moving. But so cool you're having success selling your abundance! 😊
Thanks for sharing your fall garden!

Would love your Olive Leaf Tea recipe Kim. I heard you mention it in your latest video, and I thought it may take years for me to get olives, but I can always start making tea from the leaves. Thanks for suggesting that.
Root pruning can look so intimidating, but I love it just as much as pruning from the top.
Yes, I've seen your beautiful Nandinas and I want to incorporate another in the vegetable garden on the other side of the bench (opposite its brother). Maybe add some to the flower garden as well.
I would love to see a video of your bearded Irises in containers. I would assume depending on the size of the container how many you put in. I will get that started right away so when the spring comes, they will be in place and ready to come up.
      Thanks, my friend!!!

So, I'm not too exciting I guess when it comes to savory teas like Olive Leaf. I almost always drink them plain because I *like* them that way. ☺️ But I've developed a few combinations I enjoy when I want something a little fancier (or I'm sharing with others). Lemon Verbena or Lemon Balm works really well with Olive leaves, as does a touch of dried berries. I've also loved the addition of Red Roselle Hibiscus (the dried calyces) - it adds a citrusy flavor with a hint of cranberry.
One of my friends liked my Olive leaf tea with honey, and some people enjoy it blended with mint or lavender. I don't care for those much. That's the thing though - you really have to experiment because personal taste varies quite a lot.
As far as Nandina go, I've been happy to see they've been self-sowing around here when I wasn't looking. 😉 My dad told me the seeds always come up in October, whether volunteer or planted purposefully, and that's proven true for me - probably only accurate in a climate like mine though. Still, definitely save seeds and give it a go!
I'll try to remember to show my Bearded Irises that are in containers in an upcoming video, and definitely in the spring. The containers I used are just large crates or 15-gal pots - nothing pretty. I strictly put the bulbs in there as a 'holding area' so I had them to take with me should I move. Bonus: they bloomed and looked gorgeous! 😎 Now that moving looks like it's a couple years away, I'll probably need to divide these bulbs again before then. ☺️

Gotcha with the Olive leaf tea. It's a matter of personal preference.
I would have never thought to even look for seeds on the Nandina.
Yeah -- that's what I'm sure I will be doing is just randomly putting the Iris in pots and storing that way.
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

I always leave my mums in the ground and they come back every year I do not prune them until the next growing season. I was surprised that they came back because it was stated that they are not hardy for zone 7 but that is not true. I'm an experimental gardener so I will try anything. I never cut back anything until March but it has been nice this month so I got out today to do some pruning early.

Your garden is beautiful! What area/zone are you in? Depending on how he zone, your hydrangea probably would have been ok outside in the cold. I have many big leaf Hydrangea in zone 8 and I've kept one of them alive, in a pot on my porch, for 11 years!! It's survived down to -1F in a pot!! Covering it with frost cloth would be good too. I've never heard of overwintering Mums in a bag! Interested to see how that turns out.

You can leave the hydrangea outdoors. I'm in zone 3b and they survive the winters fine in our region.

@@rbthegardennannyllc4219 Oh, sorry... missed that all your hydrangeas are also in pots. Mine are in the ground and I don't do anything to insulate them, but you would probably need to. They'd probably be alright in 20 gallon or larger pots. One idea I saw on the net if you want to take the risk: insulate the top growth from drying winds and sun by surrounding the plant with a frame of chicken wire and filling it with leaves or other loose insulating material. But if you don't want to take the risk, just ignore what I said! ;-)

Hello, i'm a new subscriber and i love your garden. I have recently bought a hydrangea, holly bush, Heuchera, and a false cyprus and blueberry plant. They are all in small 10 inch pots. It's quite cold where I am in zone 9 so I was thinking of putting them in my windowless, unheated garage to overwinter and bring them out every few days to get some sun. Do you think this is a good idea or will they need more sun?

    • @rbthegardennannyllc4219
      @rbthegardennannyllc4219  7 месяцев назад

Welcome Dellaaiyede8288. Thanks for taking the time to subscribe and your nice comment. Everyone's "quite cold" is different. What is exactly quite cold temps in your zone 9 (for instance my zone 6b in December is usually 40 high and the low can get down in the lower 20's)?
In just speaking of what I've done in the past, the plants that you mentioned above should have no problem overwintering in an unheated garage without a window. You are in zone 9 so check the zone of each plant on the tags. I'm sure most are lower than 9 so if it's 2 or 3 zones lower you should be able to keep them outdoors (but I would check with a local nursery to be sure). As you may or may not know, everything except the Holly and False Cyprus will lose their leaves during this time of year (so don't be alarmed).
I would definitely put a reminder on my phone to water and move out as you mentioned. I have never moved anything out after I put it in my windowless and unheated garage in the winter. I just don't have time for that, and I need plants that will be hardy enough to withstand being in a garage and taken back out ONLY in the spring. Remember as well -- if your soil is not frozen Fall is a great time to pop those things in the ground. Make sure to put some Espoma Biotone Starter fertilizer in the hole or some type of fertilizer that will give it a good start with root development. In just asking my opinion, either way should be OK just check on them from time to time to make sure they are not dry.
