One of my first memories of Houston in 1979 was the construction work on the Gulf Freeway
Southbound by Scarsdale. It seems like that freeway has always been under construction in
some way. It used to be 3 lanes and now in some parts it's 5/6 lanes.

Back in the Day, the Gulf Freeway opened in 1948 and was u.s.75. Locals say it was the first freeway in Texas
