    After watching your first pad video I purchased the Sleep n Go pad and used it on every trip last year and I can attest to its durability......I think its very tough and the fact that I can crawl around or sit on it and im on the ground when putting that much pressure on the pad....but when laying down in any position I am totally supported.....I love it and super appreciate that video.....ive never had to repair it and it is as good as new after several tough backpacking trips....!!!...also I have slept on it multiple nights in the low 30s F with only 1/8 foam underneath and was perfectly warm.....I owe that to the thin pad and its design......the pad gets warm and stays warm.....!!!

      NICE! So glad this pad has worked out so well! I inflated mine the other day and laid on it and was surprised at how comfortable it is for how thin it is. I hadn't used it in a long time and forgot how much I liked it! I'm planning to take it on some trips this summer. Cheap, comfortable, and light!

    Purchased the UL80 based on this review. Used it for a car trip last week. Slept great!! Only downside was I slid all over. Because I was using a military sleeping bag with the bivy. Other wise I felt like I was sleeping on a bed.
    In the past I used a cheap inflatable pool mattress. The cheap ones from Walmart for $5. They work for the most part. Just depends on the vehicles floor.

    I have the Trazon and I found the best way to sleep on it is to blow the bottom layer up as much as I could then blow the top layer not as much to make it softer and more conforming. It works great that way

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  3 года назад +2

      Thanks, Kev! I really like that idea. I done something similar with inflatable pillows. Blow one up super hard for the bottom and then the top one a little softer. I bet that makes the Trazon next level. I'm going to give it a shot! Thanks for the tip!

      I will tell you that the Trekology and Trazon have gotten almost as much use in hotel rooms as they have in the back country! word of advice. If it's the first time blowing up ANYTHING (ie inner tubes, kayaks, etc) don't worry that it's leaking on the first time blowing it up. The seams and material is going to stretch meaning it will take more air to fill so it'll feel deflated. You need to top it off then test whether it goes flat again to see if it's leaking or just stretching.

    I started with the SleepInGo a few years ago. Durability was not great, wife's failed (valve assembly fell apart) in no time. Additionally, as a side-sleeper, I felt that I was bottoming out quite often. I've since upgraded to a Klymit Static V2 ($70 on Amazon) and it's been amazing. No more bottoming out, the valve assembly is just so much better designed and it's only a couple ounces heavier than the SleepInGo (16.3)...

      NICE! My Sleepingo is still going strong, so that's a bummer that yours failed! I usually use the Trekology now for the exact reason you said (bottom out on the Sleepingo). I haven't tried the Klymit Static V2, but I'm glad it's working out for you!

    Good video and I just bought the UL80 for an upcoming 5 day hike and hoping for the best, since I like to sleep in a hammock for comfort, but going to the ground since I am taking my dog with me. There are lots of reviews of issues with the UL80 failing and I never know how much stock to put into these reviews since I want to say "you get what you pay for" but I also see lots of fail videos of the high end pads as well and expensive brand name rain gear. There are so many options with gear it doesn't always seem to be that the more money you spend the better the gear is.

      Hey Cliff! I am still loving my UL80! It's my pad that sees the most use and has never failed on me yet! Comfortable every time and always holds the air perfectly all night! So far, I can't find a reason to spend more than $40 on a pad! Hope you like it!

  • @pfote65

    Nice comparison. Regarding the non-existing or bad functioning pump sacks: of course lungs are fine, but you possibly create an issue with moisture inside the pad, and that can lead to the growth of funny things inside it. Suggestion: there is a nice little Chinese company called „flex tail gear“ that produces nice little pumps for exactly that. There are a bunch of reviews here on yt, quality seems decent to good, not to expensive. I consider ordering one, but haven’t made up my mind yet about the model

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  2 года назад

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, I've considered getting the flextail pump! Another company sent me their version to try out. It's a handy little pump, but so far it hasn't made the cut for any backpacking trips. Need to just buckle down and take a pump sac to increase the longevity of my pad!

    Great job Mr DoD 🙌😉 really good comparison here but I feel quite confused now... thinking of getting me that Trazon or Trekology pad. Trazon says that its pad is 200cms long and Trekology is 191cms. But when watching your video obviously Trekology looks much longer and wider. I'm 192cm and quite chunky lad 😂 and each inch is very valuable here for me 👍

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  2 года назад

      Oooh! That's a tough call! I will say that the Trazon seems to be the second favorite around our house. One advantage the TRazon has is that with two different air chambers, even if one pops on your trip you still have another one so at least some cushioning.
      I really don't like having a pad that is a little shorter than me. It makes my feet hang off the end. I'm almost exactly 6 feet tall, and a lot of pads are exactly 6 feet long, but that isn't long enough for me. I always go with 75 inches long (roughly 191cm) and that extra 3 inches makes all the difference!
      Trazon definitely isn't a bad choice and might work better if it's a tad longer!
      Whatever you decide, would love to hear what you think about it!

    I’ve had a UL80 for about a year and I love it. You’re quite right about the pumpbag tho, I found it to be quite small for the job and always end up using lung power! Just a quick note to say I’d recommend the accompanying pillow with a handy strap that prevents it from slipping out from under my head. All in all I totally agree with your findings.

    • @DoseofDirt

      Is this in reference to the Orange one (Cascade Mountain)? If so, yes I agree that the seams are a little big. That's a big reason it was probably my least favorite of the 4 in this video. These will primarily be for summer (r-value around 2) so I'm not too concerned about cold spots (and I'm a warm sleeper). But for comfort I didn't like the large seams either.

My question is.... What 2 liters cheap but good folding bag should I have instead of a water bottle ? With a loop to hang up. Hey Mathieu! I haven't looked at Decathlon pads before, but just looked at their website and see they have the XL on sale right now for $35. Super tempting! Could be a good buy!

    Great video Jeff! I'm really trying to laser in on the Trazon for a potential suggestion in an upcoming video of mine. You mentioned 22ozs, is that all in with the band and the stuff sack? How was the overall comfortability with that pad? The baffling system looks similar to the S2S Ether Lite series which is highly regarded as one of the most comfortable pads on the market. I also have an older model of the Trekology UL but the denier must be lighter because mine weighs 19ozs all in. I don't like the baffling on that pad, don't find it that comfortable. I also like a wide pad and most in your reviews aren't that wide. But thanks for any info! I also want to do a shout out to your channel in that video I make because this is awesome info that people need to see!

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  3 года назад

      Thanks, man! Ya, comfort is always a tricky one to make a recommendation on. I 100% prefer the trekology, but my son loves the Trazon (and I've seen other people say they prefer this type of baffling and seam pattern as well). I do think it's comfortable, and if I hadn't slept on the Trekology, the Trazon may be my favorite. I like that there aren't large seams, but I still felt like every once and a while I could feel a hip, knee, or elbow sinking into the pad if it was placed in just the wrong spot as I adjusted. But it is honestly a good pad! A little lighter than the Trekology, still made of 40D, and the two separate air cells in case one fails during a trip. We haven't had any repeat incidents of it losing air during the night, so that's good.
      Interesting that the older Trekology is a little lighter! The baffling in the pad feels a little more substantial than I would have guessed, so maybe that's where the additional weight is coming from? Or maybe the previous model was 20D or 30D? who knows!
      I'll weigh the Trazon when I get home this weekend (hopefully the video isn't coming out too soon!). We're currently driving across the country after seeing family back east. Funny enough my son is sleeping on the hotel room floor on the Trazon right now because he prefers it to a rollaway bed! 🤣

    One thing that would have been good to know is how many lung fulls of air they took to blow up. There's a light headed factor to take into account if one has been blowing air for too long, right? 😂Since most overnights we do are car camping still, we're still using air mattresses, but those will be impractical when we have to carry all of our camping gear on our backs. You're giving us quite the checklist of all the gear we need to be gathering up. Thought for sure you were going to pick the trazon as your favourite, but then Aria pointed out that you usually seem to hold the best for last on your reviews, and you were going to pick the next one. I feel like a dunce. 😳

      🤣🤣🤣 Aria is on to me! I'm going to have to switch it up next time! The Trazon is good, but the Trekology did come out on top. But the Trazon is my son's favorite! Comfort definitely comes down to individual preference.
      I think I actually recorded blowing them up fully, so I might be able to go back and count the breaths (and time it)! I can tell you that I did start getting a little light headed blowing up the Trekology. 4 inches thick and not really any seams anywhere. Let me see if I can compare how long they take to blow up when we get back home this weekend.
      Thanks so much for watching! Truly appreciate you and Aria's comments and thoughts! I've been back east seeing family the last few weeks so have fallen behind on watching, but trying to catch up! I'm looking forward to watching the GoPro 9 review (I have the 8). Thanks again!

      Hey Anthony! I saw your comment and just went and grabbed my Trekology and put it on the scale. I get 1lb 9.2oz with the bag but without the elastic (kid must have lost it! 🤣). So basically 25-26oz rolled up in the bag. Probably 26oz total includes the elastic band. After using a lighter pad (gear doctors Apollo Air, which I just did a video on) I think the Trekology is worth the extra weight because of the thickness, and length (it’s 75 inches long which is more comfortable for me because I’m 6 feet tall and like the pad longer than me). Never ever ever compromise on your sleeping pad. Spend the money and buy a Nemo Tenser. and by the way, a pump sack doesn’t omit moisture into your gear when you blow into it you’re obviously putting humidity in there. Which can mold and cause problems for long-term use. Also, you can buy zero pump which weighs 1.2 ounces with a battery. That’ll fill it up for you. That’ll work on anything you own it out.
