@@DeityofDestiny Because back in the day no deck in the game actually made lv 6 XYZs before like turn 4. So BA "cheating" it out was seen as a strong upside. Just remember that BA was tier 1, arguably the best deck in the game back then.

in the official post they started with the bans, which was funny because no snake eyes card being there already set an ominous tone for the rest of the ban list. the community just wanted to get out of this format and konami is just telling us to hold on

@@IC-23 that would essentially kill the deck's identity of interacting with monsters as continuous spells, since Poplar is also now at 1. You'd have only the normal spell to put monsters in the backrow and the field spell to bring them out, and unless you open OSS you'd NEVER search the normal spell. While it is cool that Snash searches non-SE targets and makes for cool synergies with other archetypes, they were never really better than pure SE (except maybe on MD, where there have already been plenty of SE hits.) So it is better to have Snash be at 1, and you can see that's true and takes it off tier 0 status because of MD where the SE hits are just enough to make it and Yubel both tier 1. Arguably they didn't need to limit Poplar but better safe than sorry. Also remember they hit Prospy so literally every deck has taken a huge consistency hit.

All the branded fusion hit did, is forceing branded players to rely on the nightmare lock more heavily now, instead of the decks versitility.
Sanctifire was the OBJECTIVLY right choice to go to 0. This hit makes the deck more toxic to play against, rather than bringing it in line.
Branded is strong because of the lock, not because of branded fusion. (Which doesnt mean its not a strong card, but you know . . .)

Lets be honest the worst deck Beatrice could be in was the one she was intended for.
I made a stock market joke in a text to a friend about the new banlist. Then I see The trendline for That Grass Looks Greener, and it went up in the last week or two. Can't help but wonder if there's some low-key insider trading going on in the secondary market.
The BL having 2 days advance notice before it goes into affect makes me think it's absolutely happening. Some judges get a preview of it for early feedback and then they get to pull these shenanigans.
I checked Grass and was raising in price for at least 2 weeks.... something is really shady FOR SURE
some galaxy brain at Konami just realized that the best way to sell more yugioh cards is to unban grass so everybody has to play 60 card decks do they don't auto lose without shifter or ash

Konami is in on the secondary market why do you think they short print cards and then create ban lists around them, they might not be directly selling them but they 100% tell certain people upfront what will get hit and what won't there is no different explanation for grass spiking like it did just now.

the problem was obv Burning abbys, Tearlament clinging to live with her. And prosp got banned 3 months after it wasnt a 50€ card and was affordable. ngl with these anti consumer shit there is no reason to buy ygo cards or product rn.

@@baval5 do what every other sane card game does and do a choice ban. If you run Beatrice in a list you can't run Nightmare Archfiend or any card that is essential to the FTK.

From all the nerfing, branded got the hardest, which wasn't even in the tourneys. And if there was one, it was one that played the summoning lock, so anyone would expect Albion to get banned.
Branded as a deck barely makes any sense unless they make an albaz tuner that likes to fuse into Fallen of Albaz fusions.
@@justice8718 I don't quite get your point, spell cards used in branded lock you into fusion summoning, having an albaz tuner is quite pointless and the deck is designed around fusion summoning, outside albion lock the deck is extremely balanced and skillful.
Generally speaking we got 2 tuners, cartesia and quem.
There is also a branded trap card that allows you to synchro summon during your opponent turn.
And last cartesia into dusk dragon, dusk dragon has the effect to summon any despia monster from the extra deck during your opponent turn after he special summons, so you summon a despia synchro monster named "luluwalilith" that has a negate as effect.

@@iTechGamingLOL The entire recent wave of branded literally shills tuners and synchros for Branded to not use the old fusion locked spell cards. It doesn’t help that Fallen of Albaz has no real extender effects that encourages you to extend your fusion plays and is actually a huge detriment for it. People legit only use him to rub extra salt into the gimmick-puppet-lock wound. Despite alll of the shilling the supports given to “fallen of albaz”, BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON, a VANILLA!, is a much better extender than fallen of albaz, because you can synchro his bum off with any level 4 and level 1 tuners to put up decent/strong synchro monsters. It really doesn’t help that Bystial Aluber works far better as a “fallen of albaz” simply because he’s an overglorified vanilla with the Bystial title and tuner typing, making branded in white and Cartesia easier to set up, without any of the fusion-lock cards, and lead into another “fallen of albaz” fusion or synchro monster via Bystials Dis Petar. Do you know how stupid that is?

Fiensmith is not a dead engine. Lacrima getting banned just makes Necroquip Princess a necessary card in the deck, and plus, they didn't hit High King Caesar

Not too upset about the Appolousa ban cause 3-4 negates suck but man rip rogue decks. Barrone and Savage were the real ones for that and appolousa while being actually problematic was the last legs for them.

To be honest, if a rogue deck only relies on generic bosses like Apo, they just need more support. Generic bosses have sadly contributed to the homogenization of matches (if I see it every match it gets stale) so I for one am thrilled to see it gone.
@@crusaderpenguin5326 Well obviously they need more support but there's like 300+ archetypes but support doesn't come that quickly especially if your archetype isn't a popular anime deck. It took like 10+ years for Battlin' Boxers to get some decent support despite being an anime deck and it still ain't even rogue tier
Personally I don't mind appolousa gone for being 3-4 negates in 1 card but personally i feel Barrone and Savage didn't need to go. 1-2 similar cards in an endboard isn't that much of a problem to me especially when it's a deck you don't see often anymore.
@@Honest_Mids_Masher Oh I agree completely that it takes a while for support, and that's sadly just because Konami can't turn out support for everything all the time. I'd like to see the support be stronger when we DO get it, instead of things such as the lackluster Battlin Boxer support, as you said.
I think Barrone and Borreload are also fantastic bans tbh. The issue is that they're so strong AND generic to the point where there's no incentive to run literally anything else. Forcing decks to decide on more situational cards instead of omni-negates is a step in the right direction imo.

Im gonna be real, I do not think this was enough given how long we had to wait and how clear it seemed what needed to be hit. But I guess only time will tell.
They hit every deck that needed to be hit, but they somehow missed damn near every card in those decks that actually needed to be hit.
It's almost impressive how botched this list is.
They hit the deck that should be hit long ago but missed the actual problematic cards (well except for Branfus its too strong to be at 3 with how much way they have to get it and current Albaz Fusion they have)

They're actually really good hits, pop and ash limit makes the snake eyes engine a lot more clunky while lacrima ban dramatically reduces what you can do with the FS engine. Also no apo around.
SE might stay tier 1, but a lot of the more annoying aspects for it are removed.
No puppet lock hit, No Shifter hit, minimal Fiendsmith and Snake hits, this list sucks ass
It’s worse. Branded has to go puppet lock because the other lines were killed and are objectively far more inconsistent and resourceful. Because branded fusion is not a one card combo.

As someone who has been playing Lunalight for like,.... 7 years, and it being my favorite archetype.

About the Grass buyout, it's not surprising at all, there's a lot of people inside Konami with privileged information that can proceed with these buyouts...in fact I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.
They hit more than I expected, and honestly it wasnt enough. I would love an absolute meta restart but I don't think that's possible

Okay realistically they lose out on Apo as an endboard piece + snake-eye Fiendsmith can no longer go Beatrice to search a snake-eye ash. That version of the deck also won't autowin in time now.
I'd say that snake-eye Fiendsmith specifically was hit the most out of any deck on here, but it's still very powerful.
I had a friend that CLEANED OUT Troll-n-Toad that time BLS came off the list. He had an entire BINDER full of them. They actually tried to sue him

Yeah, I am one of those 3 sad Sacred Beasts players that see their fun deck wounded because Komoney did not have the balls to really hit Yubel as they did Fiendsmith and allegedly Snake-eyes, which will be dormant until Rage of the Abyss is released.
Anyways, I will ry Sacred Beasts with only 1 Opening of the Spirit Gates and see how it goes :(

Don't worry, I'm sure, Konami is currently cooking up some groundbreaking new BA support.
It will include Beatrice 2.0, who actually prefers being summoned by the own archetype over "literally anything that happens to make a Rank 6". Maybe they even get "The Burning Abyss of the Burning Abyss", a field spell that searches a BA monster. Plus the obligatory field spell searching Link 1.
Beatrice might not be THE problem card, but she's the enabler for problem cards. Other cards on the banlist for similar reasons are Starving Venom and Neptune. They weren't problems on their own, but they could easily become the problem if the right cards were released.

The asshole TCG was already plotting to do this and made up TCG exclusives Necroquip Princess and Aerial Eater as substitute Level 6s so they could ban Lacrima for being a time card.

Couldn't agree more with the Beatrice errata take. She should really turn the condition around to be able to use the effect if Summoned by discarding a BA and not if Summoned normally.

I'm shocked that grass is as low as it is, rn. Has the reprint culture finally set in and people now understand more that buyouts on significantly buffed/unbanned cards that haven't been meta in years are more risky because they were likely on konami's radar for reprint? Quite likely in rarity collection 3 hybrid.
Beatrice should’ve said she could be activated the turn she was xyz summoned by using a BA xyz as a quick effect, but if you hard make her, she's both only turn player effect and unactivatable on the turn she was xyz summoned. That would make her fair and usable in the archetype she was intended for. If fiendish hard makes her, they have to protect her for their and their opponent’s turn before being allowed any value off her. So turn 5 earliest before her material has a chance of being finished, making including her in the extra deck not worth it, but BA will be able to use her right away and on the opponent’s turn as well.
