I think the hitch rack while expensive, will prove to be easier and provide more satisfaction in the long run. Also I like that there are no contact points on the frame.
I've been using my Yuat Sherpa 2 for a number of years now. It's worked great however, be aware that if you have an XL size frame... the base may be too short, it doesn't extend like their NV rack. I'm going to move to a tailgate pad because recently I've installed a full front fender on my bike and now I realize the clamping system won't grip correctly and the bike has 'spun' on the front tire holder when going down the highway😬Too many isues... big bike + front fender : (
I’ve got the same exact truck, but wondering if you’ve had any issues with the exhaust? Worried the dual exhaust is positioned in a way that would either melt the bike/rack components. Great video!
Lol the exhaust doesn’t shoot flames bro, relax. I have a Carven exhaust on my Ram and it’s barely warm by the time you’re more than a couple inches away from the pipe
This is my concern. I have a brand new ram 2500 and I’m concerned about this being annoying. I’m used to the old moving blanket method. But the new truck is so much taller. Hard with my e-bike.
You can lower your receiver. Then get a drop/rise hitch for towing your trailer/camper, etc. Planning to do this with my full size rig as I just ordered the Sherpa.
4:00 mark I literally bursted into tears and laughter and threw my hands up. This is the most frustrating part of installing the pad! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks man. Makes the decision a bit easier.
Dude thanks! Exactly what I've been pondering all day lol. Appreciate it.

The Kuat rack is awesome but my fav thing in this video is that sweet Ram! Nice truck dude.
Thanks!

Great video! It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Pro tip - feed the straps under and up with the tailgate down. Yw!
I’m thinking my reverse camera going off constantly thinking I’m going to hit something will be annoying. Any opinions?

I had zero issues with the exhaust
Great video! Did you have to switch the sensors off for the Kuat or have any other related issues?
I do have to switch the sensors off when it is installed but no other issues.

I have a tonneau cover and I was wondering if it can be closed down on top of a pad?
It depends on the cover and pad combination but my brother closes his tonneau on his Dakine pad and it works fine.
Thank you
So you can’t open the bed fully even without a bike on there? Only bike rack I’ve seen so far that can do that is Thule T2 classic.
Depends on the truck. I had this on a Tacoma and I could open the tailgate unloaded and even loaded when the rack was tilted back.
Have you used both at the same time
I have not. I assume there would be some clearance issues but I'm not entirely sure.
Is the back tire supposed to hang off that much? Would it even work with a bigger and lengthier bike?
There is a 47” wheelbase limit that will exclude larger sized trail and enduro bikes unfortunately.
The hitch rack also won’t work if you’re pulling a camper trailer.
Are you able to fully open tailgate when no bikes are on the rack? I have Ram as well and that's what I've been searching for.
Unfortunately you cannot. The tailgate hits the rack just before it’s fully down.
@@mountainbikesandmotorcycle6890 Ok. Thank you.

Save $1000 to transport 4 (or more) bikes. And race face tailgate pads are a tad more user friendly.
typical ram owner with the fog lamps always on 😆
