5, a great story. Sad what he found out, that she could not hold out. Or maybe she did and the other gentleman was waiting for her divorce before they started anything physical, honoring the marriage she had.
My husband is a retired Navy officer. My dad was a retired Army officer. Moving was a given. In the corporate world people have to go on business trips or relocate all the time. Alice’s values are archaic. Not in tune with success or upward mobility. Would she have moved with James given the opportunity? Not waiting for her husband is selfish and immature. Other than that it’s a good story.
God he missed the biggest red flag Ive ever seen. When he came back she said Ill pick you up at the airport, we need to talk. Those are the words all cheaters use when the end things. Man and woman but especially the women. Every story of female infidelity has this chilling expression. And of course he left her and she became distant which is another big red flag. If he really thought about it, he would put two and two together and realize what was happening. If he told this story to almost anyone they would have given him the same answer. When I got married ages ago I made it a point to always be around and not take any trips and especially business trips. And this is the reason why.
Exactly, it was pretty obvious she was a cheater, then he grieved this hard and this long for a short marriage that was virtually dead a year prior? Makes no sense
Ahh the complexity of love and life. The what if's are endless. But you will drive yourself crazy with the what if's. Best to move on and deal with the what is. It was magnanimous of Arthur to free him from his pain and guilt while obviously still dealing with his own pain and what if's
Mh, I am torn. The story might seem beautiful on the outside. But inside it's a story about an emotional affair. But the affair partner telling him she respected him gives it a "different" touch.
4 Absence doesn't always make the heart grow fonder. Maybe the year away was a blessing, or would have been if she hadn't gotten killed. She had lost her commitment before he took the job, had she gone with him it would likely meant a long period of a degenerating marriage bringing a lot of misery to them both.
Oh yes a year apart will do our marriage good,. Said nobody with any sense
Took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you.
Agreed. Avoiding the problem just delays it. 😮
"Out of sight out of mind" Has he never heard of such proverbs ?

A very sad and good story 5*.
Imagine that, a sordid love story that was not filled with vile lack of morals and evil betrayal.
Then why do you say that it's sordid?

You know I love you're stories. Often I wish they could continue a little longer. Like James's new love Daniell. 5 A. Aus.
I think this story has helped me. I have carried a cold stone for 57 years . I think it will help me turn the page and move on .
Old Alice was a 304. But you can’t blame her. Gone for a year?
Why would he grieve so hard and so long for a short marriage that was on the rocks? And it was pretty obvious she was going to cheat.
Thank you enjoy your story
Thanks for listening
beautiful and touching story

Loved it so true a 5.
Alice didn't get her own way, so she threw a fit & divorced James. What an azz hole!!!

Superb🎉
Thanks 🤗
so he finally moved on from a cheater .....

Very good. V.
Many many thanks
👍👍👍👍👍 Cheers
I'm a little bummed that the story didn't go on a little longer...

I loved this story if the number5 means great you got that, or if number 1 is great there you are
Intriguing a definite 5
Even if this is a made up story, it is very touching, indeed.
Beautiful ❤555
Thank you very much!
Another one ... these women are not worth the bother !! Their happiness is so overrated !
no offence, but even without Arthur, I felt James and Alice would still have divorced
Forget-me-not
Some of your stories have too much of an abrupt ending.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 = 5
Predictable story.
Definitely a 5
