Insane how many hours of work and effort went into this game, a game that is often critiqued and made fun of for its goofy design and live action performances. It's hard to believe something so large scale- with a giant green screen room, advanced digitized animation, and special effects and make up artists, the whole nine yards, could still yield such an obscure and relatively unknown piece of art nearly 40 years after it's inception.
I truly dont know how but I can remember something he mentioned. He said that he used milk as blood in scene where Steve gets electrocuted and that he had to edit every single frame to make it look like a blood = very hard work. Maybe tunainoil can confirm this too?
@@Leto85 I mean...idk There's already some fucked up video games and shows nowadays. It might work. The closest game I remember being almost so close to the bizarre nature of Harvester is Illbleed now that I think about it.
At 00:50: I know it is a stock scream sound effect but does anyone know what it is called or where it is originally from? (Think Willhelm and Howie scream.)
@@evilemperordude Yeah, Kistler actually recorded lines for Steve early on in the game's development (as can be heard in some pre-release footage), but I don't know if that was just as a placeholder until they could find someone else to do Steve's voice.
Yeah, but I'm sure this take was a bit more nuanced during the 90s when it was made, though. I'd love to see what a remake of this game would have as their main message
"This game will have a lot of options for different moral decisions."
BYE
Fantastically creepy game that still holds up to this day. Bizzare and dark, it's very unique.
"The characters in Harvester, over 100 of them."
But the sign said 'Harvester Population 51'
at 1st the idea was to have 100 but they cut it down
Natural causes.
That's a lot of loose spinal cords laying about then if it is natural causes.
Steve change the number on the sign, being a kidder in all.
VideoGameStupid LC what a brilliant comment!

The Dark Exotic Woman was gorgeous.
that was the game's creator's wife
And Steve’s infant sister is her son
Over 100 characters
Population 51
Natural causes.
@Jill Sandwich NATURAL CAUSES!!!
maybe the lodge characters do not count
4:16 Is that the Mortician?
On a side note I wish this was an hour or more long! I'd watch the whole documentary!
Yeah, that's him or rather, the director of the game, Gilbert Austin.
this game is such a fever dream

I know this is an old comment but it does ring a bell.
@@tunainoil did you ever figure out where it was from?
@@Folk1n its 2022 everyone here is dead probably
They should make a second game
Space Melon well that doesn't matter because if they made a sequel why would steve still be the protagonist
They should
I feel like a remake would be pretty neat. But unfortunately...it is less likely nowadays.
@@Sonicsgirl13 Yeah, true. I think people nowadays would be way too sensitive for it.

defiantly one of my favorite games ever!
By the way, has anyone managed to trigger that cutscene with Steve fainting in front of a mirror (1:31) or is it just an outtake?
i think its when you die from being killed by mirror steve in the lodge or perhaps looking in the mirror without drinking anything first?

I loved this. it was actually disturbing and left a bad taste in your mouth. it was campy and self aware but still very effective
Just gonna put this here, Gamegrumps made me investigate this game.
I read on a facebook interview with Steve's voice actor that he used a mixture of shaving cream and water for the electrocution scene, not milk.
Was that before he got caught with cp?
@@attackofthecopyrightbots He really was a "kidder" after all...
@@attackofthecopyrightbots Stop.
@@attackofthecopyrightbots He wasn't. Kurt Kistler, the one who was arrested, physically played Steve but was dubbed over by a different actor.

This game creeps me out
love sick games
Oscar Memo Of course you do Caleb.
2:55 Hey, it’s the Male Model from the fire station! Or at least, he looks like him!
Huh, you'd think they'd have just used red food dye. It really sounds as if they relied too much on adding in digital effects after filming.
A greater and more accurate parody of America than the early Grand Theft Auto games.
Live Future Vision (unfortunately, they closed in 1996)
i think they went bankrupt
I hope they make a 2nd
Thank you brother.
does anyone know the music?
Thank you👍💖
У бэбуя баню, а здесь не вижу
What is the song that starts at 1:52?
Devil, Harvester OST.
How is this track entitled?
thanks man
Id software now this... growing up in dallas in the 90s ruled...now its just whatever
The creator came from hell
still can't find this downloadable, and I'm confused about Dosbox and stuff. :/

@@pianicata4 7 years ago, think he figured it out yet lol 😂
I know this comment is old as hell, but it's on Steam
It's on Torrent.
Hilarious
what did he say? he seems to no longer exist in this reality... maybe he choose the evil option
Who is the name of that chick on 2:46?
Tracy Napadano, according to the credits.
Did you guys know she was originally the actress for Stephanie? You can see this in the official trailer for the game.
@@DesertPunke wow she looks waaaaaaaaay better
@@tunainoil Incidentally she was also the main dev's wife and the mother of the baby boy who played Steve's sister
