I decided to make some small wooden toys for my great great nephew for Christmas this year. This also has the benefit if giving me some experience on my scroll saw.
I wish I could move that fast! I sometimes speed up videos in the video editor so I can show more content in a shorter time period. I think this one is around X8.
Hi Bob, great video thanks for sharing. I do have a couple of questions to ask though if that's Okay? 1. what size stock did you use? 2. what size blade did you use on your scroll saw? 3. what speed did you have your scroll saw set to? Many thanks Paul.
Hi Paul, I just used a scrap piece of 2 x 4 spruce that I had laying around. The saw was very new to me at the time and I was using the blade that came with the saw. I don't have much experience using a scroll saw. I usually just select a speed that seems comfortable. The plans for the toys are available as a free download from toymakingplans.com. I'm quite amazed at how many views this video has had. Bob
Hi Ibrahim, I just used scrap pieces of spruce I had laying around in my workshop. I had just bought a new scroll saw and these were my first attempt at making small cars. I've made quite a few toys since but didn't make videos. I used canned spray paint for the finish.
Hi Bob. I make the same toys, I use 1-1/2" thick Pine. Could you please tell me what kind of blade are you using for thick wood and also for tight curves? Thanks for sharing.
Very Nice 👍
Great video. Thanks for sharing!

You can download the plans free from toy making plans.com.

How in the world were you able to move your hands so fast?
Do you have the plans my son would love them for Christmas
No sorry. I remember that they were free from a company that sold vehicle plans. Perhaps a web search could help.
I looked around and it was toymakingplans.com where I got the plans.
Hi Bob,
It's great job. I really wonder that what kind of wood do you use for toys ? Also how did you paint them ? They are shining.

Hi, I usually use a number 5 or 7 blade.
+Bob Ross Thanks Bob, I saw you used for these toys a pin blade.
what was on the paper to make it burn only the letters into the wood? I've never seen anything like that.
It's just normal printer paper using a laser printer. The heat source (wood burner) bonds the toner from the printer to the would.
Bob Ross interesting...
nice, but it's a shame that 80% of the time we only see your hands!
nice job. id like to make these for my son. where did you get the wheels?
You can get wheels at www.stockade.ca/Wheels-Axles_c_1834.html . Please note I'm in Canada and this is a Canadian web site.
