I’m sitting outside my parents in laws house in San Gabriel, CA watching this game having a cigar. The fans are phenomenal. Driving up to mountains tomorrow. Will have to watch Challenge Cup final on replay. I think Leigh will take it.

      You were right!
See Alex Murphy get knocked senseless in the 1971 final

Also search for 'the battle of Fartown'. The long version features an all out assault on poor Johnson, complete with racist abuse

This was BBC commentator Eddie Waring's penultimate Rugby League Challenge Cup Final. By then he was beginning to have difficulty in keeping up with the action and retired after his final Challenge Cup Final in 1981. It was said Waring was experiencing early onset of dementia.

So, Millward had his jaw broken a few times. He was to die of jaw cancer.
