I think it’s the context for Gort that does it more than his actual appearance. You go into Torna knowing the main character Lora will die by the end of the storyline, you just don’t know exactly how. By this point, you’ve already beaten what would obviously be the final boss and would think you are generally in the clear. @@oceandragoon3099 tbh I never even considered she could die to Gort because the main game shows her getting cornered by a large military operation (the invasion from Indol), which is when Jin becomes a Flesh Eater. Controversial opinion: The freezer is a far scarier thing compared to the scooby doo jumpscare yes its fucked up that its in a kids game, but also its a jumpscare, over in mere moments and honestly something I forgot about till i get reminded about it a few months later the freezer on the other hand is literally an IRL creepypasta, you're telling me if I go out of bounds in my game where Im basically death incarnate I get a target on my back and the punishment for getting caught is my entire game doesent work anymore? Thats fucked up! I think one way to look at it is like this, whats more terrifying, getting jumpscared by scary maze game, or your game crashing after you did something "illegal" and never reopening ever again. Honestly the only thing that does give me some doubt is the immediate horror, cause yes scooby doo does win in that department, if the freezer made your game also sound like a mediocre analog horror jumpscare it'd prolly be 11/10 on the horror scale for me
The Pokémon fusion made me remember Pigma from Star Fox: Assault, who gets assimilated with the Aparoids and become this gross gigantic armored monster. Scared me as a kid, and in that fight your Arwing shots just bounce off the armor at first so that was a mission I refused to play for a while.
Not nearly as bad as Sinistar, the Freezer or even the Scooby Doo jumpscare, but the biggest fright I ever got out of a game was in Xenoblade Chronicles X. There're these enemies called False Thallus, which are like big greyish-brown praying mantis/stick bug looking things that disguise themselves as dead trees on cliff sides. When you approach, they fly down super-fast and let out a horrendous screech. Scared the shit outta' me when it first happened.

I still couldn't sleep even after i beat it
For me, it's a tie between the Orne and the Tempura Wizard from Kid Icarus: Uprising. One is so dangerous that it has its own theme, and it kills you upon contact, with its description stating that it shatters your mind moments before your demise. The other is a guy who turns you into tempura and then tries to eat you. I loathe instakill enemies but these two I especially loathe. Also for context on the "mind-boggling" skeletons, they're from Kings Field 1. They can take you out in a matter of moments, are insanely hard to kill(which certainly isn't helped by the obtuse controls), and are EVERYWHERE.
That girl at 17:30 for me was so scary because, my wii was broken and froze every time I got to this point. I never got to beat this game because of this damn maid!
Shadow bite from Kirby’s Mass Attack scared the crap out of me. It’s this huge shadowy figure that you can’t kill, and your only choice is to run down a long hallway. What’s worse, is that the put collectables in spots where you have to take a bunch of time to break a block WHILE your still being chased. Also, it kills you instantly.
Naah if you actually play the game the gloom hands are FRIGHTENING! Yes, especially when you don't know what's going on, but even after 20 encounters with them I still opt to Lob bombs in their general direction until there is nothing alive in a 30 Meter radius, they are fucking terrifying!
Luigi mansion the baby boss. Because it's the first ghost you don't just suck it up. I died so much to it just because it chases you down and scratches at you.
I need you to understand that Mimi is CHAMP. That fucker turns into THAT, chases you around the entire mansion, is INVINCIBLE while chasing you, and that is not all. That little theme song that was playing of hers ONLY plays when she finds you. Imagine 8 year old you running around the mansion desperately looking for the exit and then THAT THING shows up and the music starts playing. Genuinely have no idea how that game got an E rating.
It doesn't generally get me, but in Left 4 Dead I once heard a Hunter growling and couldn't find it until it pounced from a pile of corpses. I almost had a Cringe Confessional story on my hands.

when I was a kid, bogmire from luigi's mansion gave me nightmares
For me I vividly remember being terrified of the Ornes from kid Icarus uprising
This video was too scary for me Coney….I had to leave and come back with all of the lights on in my house 😢
That girl at 17:30 for me was so scary because, my wii was broken and froze every time I got to this point.
I never got to beat this game because of this damn maid!
sinistar was the only thing that gave me nightmares as a kid
Shadow bite from Kirby’s Mass Attack scared the crap out of me. It’s this huge shadowy figure that you can’t kill, and your only choice is to run down a long hallway. What’s worse, is that the put collectables in spots where you have to take a bunch of time to break a block WHILE your still being chased. Also, it kills you instantly.
some kinda evil game design in that one, surprisingly
Never disrespect 3D Monster Maze
I'm glad somebody submitted SA-X, but I'm surprised we didn't see Twilight Princess Skulltulas. Maybe they saw it on stream though
the fuckin invisible guys from dusk clear
The answer is the Yeti from that skiing game actually.
The Ocarina of Time Shadow Temple and the Piano in SM64 gave me nightmares as a kid
The wheel has great seasonal timing
I thought the thumbnail was rolling girl miku when I first saw it
Naah if you actually play the game the gloom hands are FRIGHTENING! Yes, especially when you don't know what's going on, but even after 20 encounters with them I still opt to Lob bombs in their general direction until there is nothing alive in a 30 Meter radius, they are fucking terrifying!
It has been 17 moons since the last one, this better be good.
Hopefully the wwe tangent that got cut from the video goes up on the clips channel. It was very funny
Oh boy, subula jumpscare maybe?
Luigi mansion the baby boss. Because it's the first ghost you don't just suck it up. I died so much to it just because it chases you down and scratches at you.
Surprised no one submitted the flood from Halo, that shit terrified me as a kid.
Honestly kinda glad I already knew about ORT. Imagine getting lostbelt 7 spoilers from a fuckin Coney stream
Rex would have fucked me up as a kid ngl
No way co ey watched the black and white mickey cartoons
The video game weird dreams for PC is sacry take almost any screen shot and there's some kind of horrorifying thing happening.
not an enemy, but the purple swamp level in mario galaxy where mario drowns with his hand sticking out made me never finish that game as a little kid
Coney once again docking Metroid for being Metroid 😔
okay but the t. rex is genuinely kind of scary
spiderman 1 doc oc better be on this list
tragic
3:22 rivals 2 mentioned were so back rivals2bros
I need you to understand that Mimi is CHAMP. That fucker turns into THAT, chases you around the entire mansion, is INVINCIBLE while chasing you, and that is not all. That little theme song that was playing of hers ONLY plays when she finds you. Imagine 8 year old you running around the mansion desperately looking for the exit and then THAT THING shows up and the music starts playing. Genuinely have no idea how that game got an E rating.
do the game boy camera faces count as enemies
or the worm in splatterhouse 3
It doesn't generally get me, but in Left 4 Dead I once heard a Hunter growling and couldn't find it until it pounced from a pile of corpses. I almost had a Cringe Confessional story on my hands.
The fact that zero's transformation from kirby dreamland 3 isn't here is unfortunate
4:38 I thought I was the only one!
Kinda wish wheel champ prompts came with RUclips community posts so the lurkers over here can participate
I was 8 when I first played sinistar on a snes and as weird as this may be he helped me get into Horror movie's.
