My very dear Orange Crunch! Once again you managed to hit the nail on the head! I’m the light of this I found the interview with Suga so enigmatic! Stuff was said but far far more was not and yet in the not saying a great deal was expressed! I began to understand so much more but scratched the surface! While I dearly love all seven , Taehyung has always tugged on my heartstrings as I felt there is a whole lot of untold truth hiding behind his facade. Not all of it happy either! Having said that I believe being a true creative comes with its own tortures! I have always noted his relating to Vincent Van Gogh! The moment I cried in the Suga interview was when he said to Suga in relation to the I love you letter was when Tae said - I knew you would never ever say something like that-it would never come from you but it did and I realised that you were sincere -and it changed his life. Meditate on that for a while in the light of what you said! I cried so hard for the child, the boy,the man! I wish him wholeness and unconditional love all his days! You also! I have been away for some months and have been really I’ll but recovering well! Hugs

I enjoy a lot of with your analysis very deep but at the same time easy to understand. I agree with you Taehyung has not chosen the easiest and most successful path, which he could have done since he knows the industry. On the contrary, he has taken a more avant-garde path that explores emotions. He plays with his voice, uses his more natural side as an actor and finally he and his amazing team have created in their MVs a complex world with different levels of interpretation, some simple and other more deep and disturbing, giving you the option to choose the one you want. An album very interesting because of the unusual nature of his proposal and for the beauty and creativity that Taehyung offers us. I am very happy and very proud about this beautiful project of my favorite artist Kim Taehyung. Greetings from Spain 💙

I'm happy that V is doing so well.
I like his promotions he's doing too.
He's really using all his contacts so well.
He's in every show even more then the other members.
What I like about each member that each one of them are so so unique.
So far RM Suga JHope Jin Jungkook V Jimin each one of them showed a very different and diverse way of showing themselves.
V's album is truly amazing and some how what I suspected it to be.
V has a very charismatic personality and at the moment where he wants to be.
He always wanted to experience different things like acting, being a host for a radio show etc.
He's greedy in a positive way.
    I'm really happy for him.
I support each member of BTS equally.
Thank you for your reaction to V's album.

As always, I love your analysis. Your commentary is original. I think you strive to make it original. To me V is not weird but original. The world needs more originality. He is both magical and mysterious which is a wonderful combination where he is concerned. I’m reminding myself why we are here - The music, we are here for the music. Well, Slow Dancing is definitely a song that makes people sing it all day. In that way it is more powerful than I expected. As you suggested, V’s creativity and vast knowledge of music, enabled him to create something very special. I hope he does many more collections. I’m calling it a collection because it is really a collage of music that creates an internal experience for the listener. We are entering V’s world. In my eyes and ears his value extends way beyond music. Yes, I want to see V act because he is not just good at it, he transforms. But, more than that I will be looking at how he shapes his life and values. And what he decides to share with his fans. Many, like myself, are fans for life. I would like nothing more than to help this man achieve his goals. I often find myself jealous of those with access to Asian television because they get to watch the whole version of the variety shows where V is promoting Layover.

I am loving this new era of Kim Taehyung and loved your analysis as well. Listening to the album is a sweet, mellow experience that is definitely changed by watching the videos. V himself has said many times that the videos are a necessary part of creating his vision for the album. I agree with you completely that they are a slow dive into desperation. Watching him trying to create his own perfect world in each video showcased his longing and increasing desperation to recover what he had lost.

Your analysis really helps me to organise my thoughts and increase my profound appreciation of V’s album. I’m a jazz, r&b and hip hop fan at heart. I was so looking forward toV’s work because I knew he’ll walk this musical path.
You mentioned that V made the musical arrangements his. I couldn’t agree with you more. There is Jazz and R&B in it, a mix of their old and neo sounds, which in itself is experimental, but also non Jazz/R&B sounds divested from their roots, adding that futuristic je ne se quois, a flavour that is unique to V
Muchas gracias, de nuevo. I love your work🍾🎉💜💜

You did a good job at analyzing his video, but I think it’s necessary, to be very careful in using words like psychopath, and Erie in describing someone he has a lot of hate towards him and people thinking of him very negatively, I think this just encourages them and gives them fuel on why people shouldn’t like him you described him as being a very scary, scary individual who is hiding his true personality and his true personality everyone should be scared of and cautious is what you pretty much basically has just said in analyzing his videos. these songs were written what did he say three years ago and he might’ve been in a really dark place and that does not mean that he’s in that mindset now . From your analysis, you’re making people think that he has a very dark side of him that’s very dangerous that he’s hiding from everyone. I think he was depressed. At the time of writing these songs, And the videos reflect his mindset at that time. when we’re depressed, I think all of us go into a very dark place that doesn’t always mean that we’re psychotic or have psychopath tendencies I also think people that have a very soft nature who are not able to express themselves they do have a little bit of anger because people seem to underestimate them or dismiss their feelings a lot of the time, but I don’t think it’s nowhere near being a psychopath I like some of your interpretation of his videos, but I do think it’s very Dangerous to use certain words in describing someone, especially when they are a celebrity words can cause a lot of damage even if you intentionally do not mean it I think we all should be careful in the words that we use and describing other people especially people in the public eye, where it can cause a lot of damage just my thoughts sorry didn’t mean to make it so long but I do think that he’s very sad inside and I think he feels broken

Yes, I too see V as courageous, vulnerable, honest, constrained; Personality traits that make him irresistible and loved the world over. V values family, his members, friends and ARMY. He has that innate ability to connect with people. Yet he has to be guarded in how and how much he can share. His promotion campaign for Layover is nothing short of brilliant, promoting his debut album along with Celine fashion and Cartier jewelry, utilizing every platforms available to him. So looking forward to more from V.

He draws others in and can be so disarming and engaging, but there is an underlying power where he will ultimately get his way. For Us Lyrics showing up under Blue Lyrics some of the Song descripts seem jumbled. I don't agree with words like psychopath or torturous in the analysis. Creating your own Happy World when you're down is healing. If V introduced drugs and alcohol as coping mechanisms, maybe those words might fit, but he didn't, he's kept it a clean and natural progression..I love the whole discography of V and 99.9% of BTS's Thank for your analysis

I am in love with this entire album and wish all of the songs were just a bit longer than they were. This album truly is V. V has a delicate way of walking talking and in general he has a gracefulness about himself and this album shows it. I also love the fact that he has made something unheard of in Kpop as it seems BTS in general always are the vanguard in Kpop. They have always been innovators. This is clearly seen in V’s album. Thank you for your analysis. Never had it entered into my consciousness all the words and description you used. It has really affected me because I cared so much for Bts and also have a soft heart for V. I'm a grandma & cared for V that way even if he doesn't know me. Your words describing his "nirvana like calmness that is scary" and your description of "errie, almost psychopathic element of his chacter" which you say is intentional creates knots in my gut. I feel like crying because I'm not a psychiatrist nor a psychologist but if what you're saying is true & valid, isn't that something that we should be concerned about? As I said, I love and care for V like a grandson. I wouldn't want him to suffer in silence and come to a place of madness you described. I will be praying for him though so despite the emotional upheaval I'm having, I'm still thankful you highlighted these things. Gives me opportunity to pray for V to heal and come to a space of wholeness. Sorry for the long comment. ❤❤❤😊

This is so interesting! Thank you! I really want to hear more about the details and puzzles you found. It was a little bit too fast for me, especially the part you found scary or as insanity.
Yeontan (I'm sure we're meant to think of the dog as Yeontan and not Rocky) plays such a major part, from the picture on the album, in the videos... His face in the bushes and water in slow dancing, and he's with V on the terrace of the same appartment building as in Blue when he's looking for the dog nanny, who let Yeontan go back in the end of that video when V is sitting lonely on a swing and Yeontan comes running towards him. However, we don't see them meet there. Why?
My sad take on it is that V is preparing himself and Army for Yeontan's departure. He's got a weak heart and had several unsuccessful operations, Taehyung said.
On the other hand Yeontan joined V on the Mnet stage! How adorable! Still, that sad thought is in the back of my mind.
When V is knocking on the door, and the guard is checking him out, it's like that frustration when something is out of your control. Money doesn't help when he can't save Yeontan's life. He wants to use the time he has with Yeontan fully. But why is the dog so important? Giving the kind of life V's had, that is a pretty lonely life, Yeontan has a role to play as the one V had to take care of and put first, a long relationship. In Weverse magazine they hinted that the relationship in the narrative of Layover is imaginary, a longing for a relationship that never happened.
The claustrophobic aesthetics in Rainy Days and Love Me Again, and the desperation in Blue, seems to point to a loneliness and isolation that in itself becomes a "character" while Yeontan seems to be the connection between V and other people. Yet, in Slow Dancing he is connecting with people without Yeontan, so it's a step forward, but Yeontan is still on his mind, still that "bridge" he needs.
I keep returning to the emotional moment when V was with his friends, the Wooga squad, on a trip and started crying in bed in the middle of the night. He's a social butterfly and extrovert but at the same time introvert and we never got a real answer to why he cried. This was a while back though.
So maybe it isn't insanity but part of a grief process...? Just a thought... 😅
    Love your videos! 🫶

This is very interesting analysis, but what i got out of his whole journey was that his longing, and loneliness was turning him delusional. Although "Blue" seems to come close to some sort of psychotic behaviour, I'll still have to wait for the actual video to come out to even try to figure out what it might be about. Otherwise, I just thought he was talking about how he was unable to get through to the girl he loved, or maybe his own depression that doesn't seem to get better no matter what he does.
It's not scary to me... Rather it's a mirror to society. On some level, we're all doing the same thing.
One thing I'll agree though... you cannot discount the man, you cannot take him at face value... There's layers to this ish.

I agree about the sepia.....an artificial world where Vs narrative and sound has context.....the sound is beautifully tailored to showcase Vs unique voice.....also the mv's are focused on making us not take our attention away from his polished visuals.....V is a chameleon both visually and sonically.....its a little unsettling but easily addictive......how his next music project will be shd be interesting.....

I agree. My favorite is love me again so far. He and JK are my biases, but you know, the rest of this amazing group are my breakers lol. Such depth they all have, yet so distinctly unique to self. Thank you so much. I had to rewatch 3 times in order to not miss any part of your analysis and it’s brilliant.
Since the announcement that there will be an MV for every song and knowing Tae’s love for acting and his unconventional way of thinking I was under the impression that he will give us a full movie, a unique arc narrative between all the song, a unique story he is trying to show us and the MV’s and your analysis confirm my thoughts. I am so impatient to complete all this with For Us, one of my favorite songs of all his discography 🫠
Maybe will we have a full movie then!!! 😌
I hope he can see your video, he said many many times that he is very curious about armys analysis of the stories they create for us, I know he will never tell us what to think of this narrative but I hope he will give us a bit of his intentions or thoughts, that brilliant out of the bucks mind of him.
I am also beyond words proud of the choices he maid for this first solo album, I had very high expectations (and fears ! although at the same I knew they came from my protective side of him 😭) but he exceeded every single one of them.
Tae’s soulful deep out of this world voice brought me to BTS and listening to Layover after more than 4 years being an army, gives me so much satisfaction, pride and joy…
Anyway I will stop here 🤣. Thank you again and sorry for my English 💜💜💜

Thank you for an in-depth analysis of V, which helps me understand why, despite my love for his other songs and blues, I felt too much inexplicable discomfort to put this album on repeat. It's a calm melody which I enjoy, however simply too depressing at a level I could not put my finger on until you pointed it out. His gorgeous voice only adds to the lyrics on infatuation, ringing my alarm bells, furthered by the sepia looks of his MV, like a surreal imaginary world he is dangerously escaping into. It's not that BTS has not shared songs of hardships before but they were reflections, past challenges triumphed about, filled with some hope or fight. So this was an interesting experience. I am glad he is receiving acclaim but I will be using more caution listening or sharing this album than I would with any other BTS content, especially for those using BTS to help their mental health.

@@AsianEntertainmentandCulture Absolutely: the artistry is there! Sound and music in particular, as well as visuals in the MV are powerful influences. They can be used as healing tools... just wisely and informed. I found it fascinating how eg Black Swan does not leave me in that space despite the topic, but rather in a place of calm and empowerment: I see you and I know you but you are not dragging me down, I am dancing with the awareness vs this did not have that effect. Different vibes: fascinating, isn't it? tyvm for your videos: love your depth, research and honesty. Very refreshing.

Taehyung is the most sensitive and innocent soul with gentle vibe amongst all members. The word psychopath and erie is so opposite of what he truly is. Taehyung has given us (Army) so much and this is the only way to repay him by supporting his music. Yes, Taehyung was depressed years ago and he is in a good place now. He had healed and through that experience he know himself now. Have you listened to the song Blue and Grey? He wrote it. And by releasing that song is a way for him of letting go and heal. Also Taehyung had put so much thought on this album (2-3 years in the making) and every work his done he always think of Army so he will not released an album if it will not fit into army's expectations. Borahae.

    • @isiseungella4688

@@Vantebwi I never used those words. I did not put anyone aside in my life because they were, only those who endangered my life. Experience has taught me that I need to be in a good place to help anyone else and that certain vibes need to be used responsibly. We shape the future by what we do and share, be it peace or war, courage or gloom. I have friends going through their last days in this life, some grieving, some suicidal. Often I share an MV so continents apart we share a soundtrack. Where V has millions of fans, family, supportive friends, health, wealth and is already breaking charts, those people are very alone. For some V's new album is just perfect, and for some another title might be more appropriate like "love myself" "epiphany" or "magic shop". Borahae

I am really trying to be objective here, but you made a few statements that I am questioning . This is your channel so I respect you have a right to say what you want, but your words have major impact. As a Christian I find it strange you use the words sadistic and eerie as soon as you start your review to describe BTS V Layover Album. When you used those two words in the very beginning you already psychology painted a darker and demonic prefix on pure raw emotions and artistic imagery, which is very dangerous. I ask Father GOD you come into this matter now. I didn't see any signs in his videos or the way he sings the songs that there is anything sadistic portrayed in his videos. This music is specifically about relationship, wanting, longing, dreaming and dwelling on the past so yes it will invoke an emotion if you at anytime in your life dealt with that kind of pain. His videos are in dream like state, but who hasn't felt like that when you break up or lose someone you tend to dwell more on the past then being in a present state of mind. Who doesn't feel a sense loss and tragedy when emotions are running high and you are trying to recover and move on but you are stuck between the past and present. He has poured his everything into this album and in a sense it gives closure, because if he was going through these emotions behind close doors he publicly made it known which is called self awareness and acceptance and then he creatively used everything he loves such as art, dance, singing, human relationship to help him move on. You must first recognize and acknowledge what hurt you before the healing process starts. Be Blessed!

Sorry for such a late comment, I started binge watching your channel and came across this analysis. For once I don’t agree with your analysis. Your interpretations are so negative and the words you used like sadistic (can’t see what is sadistic), psychopath, scary etc are completely off and it allows haters to go to town on him and we have seen it over his comeback. We also saw the total lack of support from the so called OT7 fandom.
Your analysis makes this much darker than it actually was. I’m sorry I see the stages of a break up but I don’t see any of the dark negative points you raised, it was totally unrecognisable to me. For example in rainy days when he portrays himself as an artist he was working as a zoetrope which the original way filming was created. So I saw it as him working to take his mind off missing his girlfriend.
For me both V and RM are creative genius’s who didn’t chase the charts but wanted to explore their music which for me showcases how authentic they are as artists. In conclusion, I found V’s Layover and Jhope’s Jack in the Box were the best solo albums. V’s layover is a masterpiece (not dark and scary) and will be a timeless classic.
His vocals were amazing, we got new and different tones and some melodic rap as well. It was refreshing to hear his beautiful vocal tones which are the most unique in an industry littered with tenors. I also liked the fact that there were no vocal gymnastics because for me the singer needs to support the narrative of the lyrics and the songs emotions. The vocal gymnastics serve the artist and not the songs lyrics and they don’t do anything for me. V is too artistic and does not fit into kpop or American pop in any way, for me he is an artist that will still be able to produce music decades from now when others are forgotten.
Sorry for my long comment, it’s just that I didn’t see anything you saw and was rather shocked by your negative perspective. But everyone has a right to their opinion, the only problem is that as a content creator it can influence others and give some a reason or justification to make negative comments and it’s clear to see that his album wasn’t supported by US fandom and we saw way more hate comments on his content.
Overall, I do love your explanations about the business, but am disappointed with this analysis of such beautiful music about longing, yearning and sadness. These are the words I got to describe the album instead of bad, sad, desperate and madness. Calling him weird because you thought he would release a jazz album says a lot (lol). The fact that jazz has been taken out of the mainstream is the biggest mistake. Jazz is complex and modern jazz is nothing like traditional jazz, neosoul is a form of jazz. V understood that jazz is complex and that he had to make it listener friendly by incorporating jazz elements into r&b/pop so that todays listener would get it shows you the state of todays music audience and how intelligent he is about music to understand the complexity. Personally, I’m so happy that he is bringing back an amazing genre.

I found the album very contrived, and yes very unnatural, it lacks to me real depth and fails to flow, the storyline is not cohesive at all... perhaps the producer failed to effectively convey the message Taehyung was trying to send. I only like Rainy Days & Love Me Again, those two songs are the only ones that conveyed to me a depth of realness and talk to me. The videos for many of the songs try too hard and come across not as artistict but as if someone was on an LSD trip, disjointed thoughts out of sequence, a jumbled mind of abstract and randomness of no real direction. Perhaps it is a metaphor of his life to the real world, glimpse of the real Taehyung with a lot of the Persona created for him, of not being in control or true to who he really is. I have frankly been left disappointed, from the promise of Taehyung to what was put out. Is it Taehyung or the producers influence??? Next time I suggest using a different producer, I am also NOT a fan of New Jeans music. I was expecting revolutionary from Taehyung & I got muddle constraint as if he is restricted from telling his real story. I am left with the bitter taste of expectation with the reality of what was presented.

While I understand you have an opinion, it seems that every time I come across your comments about him, you are always dissatisfied. As an artist, Taehyung does not create works based on the preferences of a particular audience. Thus, he is not a bonsai tree that can be molded into whatever shape you see fit. He is the embodiment of his thousand personas and his music deserves listeners who are as open-minded as he is.
Personally, I find his album coherent and musically intuitive. The MVs are imaginative and intriguing from a conceptual and artistic perspective💘
