- This is a rant about the 5/21/2024 rerelease of The Powerpuff Girls: The Complete Series on DVD. There's a factory flaw on the slip box, and I will be sending this copy back as a result because it's simply unacceptable to me for what I paid for it.

I’ve Seen Some Other People Unbox It On Here, & They Too Also Have This Exact Issue, So You Ain’t The Only One. That Is Absolutely Weird & Bizarre.
It's weird that it passed inspection. I'm guessing there was no quality control.
Didn't even know they reissued the series. I got the old set a couple years ago, new and sealed from a chain retailer. And I am reasonably happy with it.
I mean if the dvds are fine I don't mind and knowing this is better then the original with 12 dvds instead I believe of 6 meaning it's probably not double sided dvds is a plus
It's utterly ridiculous that this rerelease shipped with such an egregious error.
And you wonder why some people can't do a release day unboxing for this set.
Despite of this oddly printing error on just one slip case, at least the DVDs are reauthorize and pressed in 12 discs instead of just 6 flippers. Only thing that sucks is that terrible clear packaging with the detachable disc holders tray stacked as usual. But this will be a perfect way to swap discs if you want to keep the original 2009 10th Anniversary box set (that I own) in those white individual DVD sets. If only we can find those disc holder tray to attach on all 6 cases (unless you can find empty DVD cases that holds 2 discs each)?
Yeah, I absolute hate the double sided discs & wish companies would stop making those & do regular one sided discs. The Addams family complete live action series & the a nightmare on elm street 4 film collection was the same way & it’s just so annoying & scary to me to have discs like those.
Sometimes, it feels like Warner Archive can be hit or miss with their quality control. Last month, their Money Talks Blu-ray only had 2.0 stereo audio even through its DVD/laserdisc had 5.1 surround audio. They now offer replacement discs, but I still wonder how an oversight like that was overlooked.
This is not a Warner Archive release.

No? Warner is always on point. WB & Shout! Factory are the best ones in the dvd business right now & have been the most supportive towards it. Paramount plus may have release a few of their originals (mostly Star Trek stuff) but not much, Disney is only now releasing their Disney+ shows on blu-ray & 4K. Warner has always been on point with their dvds & have always been a fan type of company that gives the fans what they want. They’ve never been shy about losing money, just look at the pandemic when they released their movies day & date on hbo max & theaters despite all the movies they’d lose money on, then with the arrowverse shows & Riverdale falling off hard & yet they kept renewing them losing money. Then they make almost all of their hbo shows on dvd & they’ve been making their dc universe streaming service/then HBO Max/Then MAX originals on dvd & have been putting their Cartoon Network & Hanna Barbara shows on dvd for years unlike Disney & their Disney channel/Disney XD shows that almost never get dvds ever. So it’s never a miss with Warner bros. they’re the best company when it comes to dvds

I may hold off on buying this for awhile.
This new release fixed the double sided problem so that's nice, but if only the packaging was nice.
They already sold out. Still no restock. Maybe they’re fixing the print issue?
It’s on my set as well! And every unboxing video I’ve seen of this everybody has it. I think this is a design choice. It looks like an error. I literally could be wrong because of how physically looks, but everybody’s unboxed so far, including myself also have this line/going down the logo.

Mine arrives today. I don't have the original release so I'll probably keep it and hope it gets fixed later and I'll just swap it then. If it doesn't then I'll have it anyway. I understand your rant being that I also like collecting DVDs with nice slipcovers. If it was part of their design it would be fine as far as us collector's go, but it's obviously an error.
I mean the line is weird but I personally don’t think it’s such a big deal. I ordered it yesterday when it became available on Amazon but it hasn’t arrived yet.

Interestingly enough, less than a month later and The Powerpuff Girls: The Complete Series DVD re-release is already now out of stock. Maybe they realized the packaging mistake and are fixing it. I hope that's the case. But still seams weird to me to have the set already go out of stock/print only 3 weeks after it's release.
What probably happened was there was the printing error but so many of them were already made that they decided to still sell them in that stock so they probably already stopped making them before they even shipped the error print ones out and went ahead and still sold those or they could’ve realized too late and are now producing the new batches with the error print fixed. I highly doubt it’s OOP considering nothing was mentioned about it being limited edition and pretty pointless to release it and sell out permanently in less than a month.

Mine came that way as well. I'm annoyed by it as well but less annoyed because they aren't double sided discs this time like the 2009 set.
I'd probably reccomend the 2019 Australlian Madman reprint. The exact same release but the cover art is new and there are no errors. Same price
One problem. It’s PAL, whereas the US release is NTSC. I doubt American TVs or Blu-ray/DVD players can even handle the PAL format
@carloso5910official It's not actually. It's Region 4 but not fully PAL. According to the back of the box, S1-3 use PAL Color, while 4-6 use NTSC Color
Also, American HDTVs today can handle SD PAL. DVD Player could be an issue though. You'd either need it modded or just use a PC Disc drive to remove region locking.
I believe this may have been a printing error that happened during the manufacturing process of the box art itself, so they could very well recall and fix it. I don't see them just leaving this especially a packaging mistake that noticeable.
We'll see since at the moment only Amazon remains in stock with price raised back
to think I've already gotten The Complete Series DVD Set of The Powerpuff Girls from an old store before it went out of bisness the DVD BOX Set maybe old but the double sided DVDs still work
No one going address elephant in the room. This should been a blu ray!! With proper HD scan, why are we ok with an old outdated ancient format?!!!
This type of thing gets pale all the time and just accept it.
That’s not the elephant in the room. DVDs last longer than Blu-rays, you may want a show from the 90s to be extremely clear as possible so it could be nothing like the way it was when released & so that it feels altered just so you can get a better view, but I prefer that it’s made on dvd. I’m so glad I didn’t get the original release because I’ve been eyeing it for years on eBay & it’s always been extremely pricey & rare but now I finally can have this show on dvd.
Powerpuff Girls is 4:3 and DVDs can look as good as Blu-ray to the human eye, just requires the right authoring.
@@packedentertainment2866 Eh, they could remaster the picture for a Blu-ray release if they really want to, especially if the picture quality on streaming releases are anything to go by. By the way, Courage the Cowardly Dog is a show from the late 1990's and the picture quality looks amazing on streaming releases, especially during the emotional scenes that EVERYONE talks about. If only they would bother to make put that remastered picture quality on a Blu-ray release instead of compressed DVD quality.

The fact is is that if you want the better version you have to pay more money but i will tell you it’s worth every penny please do an unboxing of the upcoming Dexter’s Laboratory complete series when it releases
I had this problem with the Gravity Falls complete series I bought where there was something wrong with it when I bought it off of Amazon but the problem was is that just can all that were made in a different country illegally don't work on it and all the artwork looks faded because it was copied and not real
With all these complete series sets coming out from Cartoon Network, I hope to God we'll see a release for *_Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi._*

They released a Dexters lab the Complete Series on DVD.
Mine has that too. I thought it was intentional as a way to deter piracy.

I'm someone who never saves a slipcover. But I would still not buy this because it would be a gift for a friend. I'm sure the friend of mine would not like this either.

How I can I find this
I know that when Shout! Factory reissue their DVDs are not lazy because they always have perfect quality and all that unlike Warner Bros and others except Universal since Universal is not lazy.
Universal had put out some awful packaging as well. Remember when the "Back to the Future" trilogy had that troubling Blu-ray stacking disc with the Digital Copy in 2010 before the 2011 reissue with better packaging? Then those lousy cardboard cases and those clear cases with detachable disc holders (which Paramount and Warner Bros. are also doing). I miss the days of slim DVD cases and digipacks on box sets as well as sturdier and not flimsy dvd cases with better disc holder hubs without those annoying eco-box cases with the Recycle logo and circular disc holder cut-outs!

For me, while yes the error definitely doesn’t look nice but I personally wouldn’t make a huge deal. Plus I doubt it’ll be fixed anytime soon.

Scalpers do this all the time. It’s a scam. Don’t fall for their game. This dvd set is most likely being fixed for the print issue then will be restocked.

Nah a giant line across the box looks bad if you are paying 60 bucks for it. It it was 20 dollars you may have a point.
I mean yeah, but from a collector’s standpoint, it is a big deal. For me personally, yeah, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to me. But I’m not a collector.
Here’s the difference between you and me. If I got that box and the line was there, I’d deal with it. Because I want physical media, and I paid for it, and it’s not as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be.
If you’re talented enough, you can fix it yourself with matching paint or other materials and wouldn’t tell that it’s painted. I restore slipcovers and DVDs.
