MTV never played the video but Nickelodeon did on the tv talk show Livewire. Oddly enough why it ended up on a kid's network as opposed to MTV is so surreal but it wouldn't be the only time this happened. Later in 1987/88, MTV refused to play a couple of Monkees videos from their album Pool It. So, it ended up on Nickelodeon instead.
I started going to concerts in 1977 at the age of 12. I am fortunate to have had a cool mom and older relatives who would invite me along. I've seen legendary band after legendary band and performers. My only regret is that I never saw Zappa live. I'm happy as a clam to have seen Beefheart live in Chicago at a club called Tut's, but never got the chance to see Zappa. Sigh...
I only got to see him once, in the early 80s, but it was definitely unique. They never stopped completely playing the whole show, at least one person would keep playing and link them to the next song. And Frank would sometimes use a baton to direct the group like he was conducting an orchestra l.
