  • I install MacOS Monterey on an unsupported late 2013 iMac using the ‪@Mr.Macintosh‬ open core guide and upgrade the ram to 16GB and upgrade it to a 500GB SSD.
The difference is night and day and it was well worth the upgrade.

I have the same model. Currently running OSX 10.5.5. My delima is to make the Opencore works. DO you have any guide to create opencore installer.
    1. Create opencore from other Mac machine.
    2. Create opencore from windows machine and install to this iMac.
    3. Create opencore install using this iMac machine and install to it.
Appreciate and hoping some guide how to do it.

Yes it's certainly breathed new life into it and it's a very capable machine now.

Thanks for the nice video. I have an identical iMac with an SSD drive (two SSDs in fusion drive) and a Catalina system. I would like to ask about the installation without formatting the SSD (directly system upgrade) like you did. Is the system and its performance OK? My mac is really full of software and I don't want to complicate it with Migration Assistant form Time Machine yet, I read that it can cause problems. Thank you, Kamil

If it has a NVME slot, it will work, upgraded my 2013 imac with a 1tb hdd, 16 gb ram, and a nvme 1tb drive and a 1 tb ssd drive running Ventura.

Thanks, great vid. May I ask which brand of RAM you used there? I'm hoping to buy the same model and year of late 2013 iMac. I was thinking of attaching an SSD externally in a caddy plugged into one of the USB 3 slots on the back. Would the speed be as fast as yours internally? Or does the external attachment via USB limit the speed? Thanks again.
