I love how you emphasized their affection for/towards each other. One thing that this show did really well, on top of having teens that actually looked and acted like teens, is that they didn't oversexualize or overdramatize any of the relationships, especially these two. A lot of times, m/m relationships tend to focus mostly on the physical and once they have sex, it's like a free for all but these two...their love language is touch. From the first time that Simon laid his hand on Wilhelm's to the parting hug. Constantly reaching for each other, the playful shoves or kisses, Wilhelm asking to be held, and even hugging himself when he needed Simon but Simon wasn't there. Their genuine love and affection is just off the charts. And this is why we need S2. We finally got something new, different and *real* for a change.
I am 100% in agreement with you. I love how their relationship is. And I'm so glad it didn't fall into the usual clichés. I love how Wilhelm touches his skin thinking about Simon and also the fact that Simon didn't say "I love you too" because he would have been really inconsistent with his speech ... Young Royals is beautiful

Not because I think he wouldn't have meant it but given the situation and that he was putting distance between them while Wille sorted himself out, I felt like it was best for him to hold that admission back until such a time that it would be most effective, or maybe when Wille would need to hear it most.
this show is something i can’t and will never get over, the chemistry between edvin and omar is so special and watching their characters relationship blossom was an amazing experience it made me feel every emotion in the span of a couple of hours they really are special and i hope that they get the ending they deserve

This one hurts the most because the shows concept is really good other then having lgbt representation. And me among many other fans have been waiting 1 year only for netflix to cancel it. I am not okay with this- we didn't get to see much of a relationship and this was such a big show and gave netflix so much money so I don't understand why they would cancel it. One day at a time- main character is wlnb and had a non binary partner and their relationship wasn't even shown much on netflix and was bought by another studio who also ended up canceling the show which is really sad :( This one is older but shadow hunters- this show was mainly popular bc of the gay couple and was supposed to have more season but again was cancelled. October faction - one of the main characters is gay and the thing that hurts the most is that as a person of color it was nice seeing some colored lgbt representation as the main character is half black and his bf is Indian but was upsetting that we couldn't see more of their relationship. I haven't watched this one but also apparently sense 8- a show with a lot of different lgbt couples and polyamorous couples. There's probably a whole lot more and sorry for writing so much. Probably more then you want to read but I'm spilling my anger on the comment section 😭 But yeah I went through a lot of the recent cancelled shows and weirdly most of them are lgbt shows :/ Sadly we can't do anything at this point.
Their chemistry is too powerful 😭 I really do hope that there is a 2nd season of this series!! They deserve to be happy and might as well let us see two kings ruling Sweden 🥰
What I love most about them is that they really look like there in love and you can see that even if they’re not kissing or having a love speak. Which is something only a chemistry (platonic or romantic) between the actors could bring. And this is also something that’s usually missing in other movies/series and even in this series you can easily see a difference between Willhelm and Simon and Felice and August.
I love how you can clearly see the type of relationship that Simon and Wilhelm have next to say August and Felice because for them is it was out of genuine feelings but for August and Felice it was out of sprite
We cannot just judge Wille bc if we were in his position, we would do the same way, like he has a responsibility for the whole nation. And i think we only live once, you gonna die, and everyone as well, so just love who u want by the way u want, at least u gonna have something to remember forever and not gonna regret.
In the real world - especially after Eric's death and the royal dictate of "an heir and a spare" now requires Wilhelm to be the crown prince, there would be no chance for any kind of relationship between Wilhem and Simon other than a secret one. Particularly, given the almost insurmountable class divide. And Simon won't tolerate being a secret and a side affair. The only way for Wilhelm to have any kind of personal happiness and to be true to himself is to abdicate. And if he's the last direct heir to the crown, that may mean the end of royalty - a relic in many ways - in this modern era. Would be an interesting S2 - if there is one - to see how Wilhem, still so very young and not yet very strong - will decide what his destiny will be.
The next heir would just be a cousin (so probably August?) or, if Wilhelm did take the throne and didn’t get children, one of his cousin’s children. Either way surrogacy would always be an option. Like, what are they gonna do if the next heir is infertile? There’s always a backup plan
I was wondering if he’d do that… but I think they didn’t do that bc that wouldn’t really be a good transition to season 2 haha. Wilhelm at the end is still thinking and troubled about what to do

and the music "remember" you know is at the end the 9th episode of skam france s3 so i was crying in my soul because i loved this scene (btw i'm french that's why i watch skam france before the original xD)
It hurts so much that I have lived it, I see this story and ignoring the unreal, it makes me want to cry. because I also had my love and it was not what people expected of me, when they kiss for the first time I can see my girl and me. I really felt everything just as it happened to me. You want to explode and tell everyone who you are and you never get it, you are about to speak when you prefer not to say it, much less in a country as homophobic as mine, where it would be a disaster for everyone. Since I was little I created a false personality and I think that if this is "life" I would rather die. You feel a terrible pressure in your chest like in the series, I felt it so strong that I had to cry all day without having someone, I hope and in the future this does not happen to more people, I'm not really a believer but I pray that no one suffers in this way.
Amazing. Just watched it and they are just too precious... they remind me a bit of Davenzi/Isak + Even. Real teenagers with non-perfect skin and bodies. That and all the small details of their touches make them so realistic. Love the diversity in Casting anyway. I felt seen for a change. I so hope for a s2 and a proper good ending for them ❤
The last scene in the first season where Wilhelm just looks right at the camera I think it's to make the viewer uncomfortable, make us think about it a little more, sure, anyone that has watched this far most likely isn't homophobic but that stare is still powerful to make me think. I can't imagine all these people out there that are in the spotlight that have to live a huge lie, people in hateful families, young kids in school... I'm so incredibly fortunate to have been accepted by my family as homosexual, and still, it left me rolling around in so much confusion because I still couldn't figure out who I was or what I was. there are so many stereotypes people expect when they hear gay and you come out, it makes it almost hard to just be yourself but truer, it's like you have to live up to expectations and without realizing it that's where you end up. I hope someday I can find a woman and just fall in love, I don't want to have to use a dating site and I don't want to die my hair and cut it all off, I don't want to wear only boy clothes and act like I'm not still a girl just so other people can fit me into the role of a man better. I don't want to be a stereotype. I just want to be me if you are in a situation where you can't tell your truth just know, when you get older you have full control over who you want to surround yourself with. I didn't come out until I was 20, that doesn't mean you have to wait that long, I just wanted to be sure and I figured it out quite late... be safe thank you for the video, I wouldn't have known about the series if it weren't for it and I just binged it all in one day

The lighting used throughout this show is just impeccable! Not only are the two common colours used that of the Swedish flag (🇸🇪), but they're close opposites on the colour wheel, are warm-cool tones, represent emotions of importance of self vs the importance of tradition, and, ah, I'm so happy about the lighting in this! In Wilhelm and Simon's sensual shared scenes, there is a mix of both the cool blue (representing Wilhelm) and the warm yellow (representing Simone), and are shown to be almost "competing" against each other with each change in camera position. In the scene where Wilhelm goes to Simon's one last time to tell him they can still be together, but that Simon would have to stay a "secret", Wilhelm is wearing his "royal" blue coat, whilst Simon is wearing his yellow shirt; still competing together up until their last moments together. Wilhelm's "royal" blue coat is passed down to him at the death of his brother, representing the immediate continuation and expected acceptance of the Crown on to Wilhelm's head. He follows his calling to the Crown, leaving behind Simon and his short-lived shot at "normality", as he is, yet again, dictated into a path of leadership and nobility, as directed by his own blood as Crown Prince, distancing and losing his grip on his past to his fate with every full rotation of the car's wheels away from Hillerska... From his life.
they are two characters who in all professional entertainment I've seen, I feel are really in love. and it's so young and pure especially because they hired mostly teenage actors (Simon is like 22/23 though) and they can very accurately portray those nerves and uncertainty and TEEN ANGST ugh I absolutely fucking live for this show

acually i think that the ending.. wasn't negative. at the very end wilhelm looks at the camera (with this powerful sight, full of will to fight) and i think, he was thinking about how to fix things again. few mins before he told simon, that he loves him, so i think s1 ends up with wilhelm's thoughts about: how to tell country, that he prefer love over his duty. that must be it.

they are two characters who in all professional entertainment I've seen, I feel are really in love. and it's so young and pure especially because they hired mostly teenage actors (Simon is like 22/23 though) and they can very accurately portray those nerves and uncertainty and TEEN ANGST ugh I absolutely fucking live for this show

acually i think that the ending.. wasn't negative. at the very end wilhelm looks at the camera (with this powerful sight, full of will to fight) and i think, he was thinking about how to fix things again. few mins before he told simon, that he loves him, so i think s1 ends up with wilhelm's thoughts about: how to tell country, that he prefer love over his duty. that must be it.
