Thanks for this review. I wish it had been done before I got mine from the same dealer in Tucson in June 2023. I had been on the ordered list since December and had little movement. I was about to give up when they called to say that an ordered one almost identical to what I wanted arrived and the people who had ordered had already moved onto a Tesla from being sick of waiting. I put down a $500 deposit to buy me a few days to consider it and to show my family (we had not even been able to test drive one with such limited supply!). That being said, I paid MSRP with no hassle. I actually got a $500 in-house credit which I used to get the official EUV floor mats and cargo mat. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the floor liners that cover more floor area, similar to the ones you got. I have installed LED reverse lights, an LED button light for inside the charge port, an infotainment glass screen, cubby organizer for inside arm rest, and am waiting on an armrest cover that I can add padding to (I am to a fan of the arm rest). Other than that, I don't know what else this car needs. We lived fine for a couple of months with Level 1 charging using the provided charger. The car is mainly for running around time, doing school runs, short work commute, and errands, so no long trips and no range anxiety. Absolutely love the preconditioning to cool the car and get the ventilated seats cool. We just got the QMerit install of the Level 2 and realize how little we need it. I lowered the amperage on the EVSE so that it doesn't spike my electricity use above what my solar panels can produce. And I have programed charging to only happen midday for solar, and late night for reduced EV electricity rate from TEP utility. Thanks again for your video and I would love to see updates!
Your experience sounds very similar to mine. I also purchased sight unseen after months of waiting, but the price after the tax credit was unbeatable and worth taking a risk. Yours is the third comment I read regarding the reverse LED lights so I guess that’s my next upgrade. I do have an update in the works and the comments will be mostly glowing- I absolutely love this car in addition to the fact that I haven’t been to a pump in over a month! Level I charging works just fine as well and yes - I am still waiting for that L2 charger (but I don’t miss it). This has been an amazing purchase. 👍
Totally agree! 100% satisfied. I have noticed a few things I wish were better, but hard to ask for them at this price point after the tax credit. About the reverse lights, I haven't noticed much of a difference yet. I don't do much night driving. I did it since I was doing it for my Honda Odyssey where it made a huge difference. Looking forward to your updates, especially with the local Old Pueblo flavor :)@@ModestMaker
Nice review. We love our 23 bolt and I’m glad I am not the only one who had those two issues of the loud fan at times and the shifting conditions are not right for one time so far. It’s the perfect car for us here in Colorado👍
Thank you for a great video I am also from Tucson but moved to Florida and we just ordered a Bolt EUV can’t wait to see updates on your Bolt and maybe more updates on it .. One suggestion maybe update your reverse light to LED for better visibility..
Nice review. I'm in Tucson as well, and placed an order thru Watson last January, but wound up finding the EUV I wanted in Phoenix a month later. They cheerfully refunded my deposit. I would have liked to work locally but I feel like Phoenix got more allocations than the Tucson dealerships. Glad to hear you are enjoying your EUV! Buzz @ KIIM-FM
Honestly, I feel pretty lucky to have received one. I never thought I would have to be so patient to buy a new car, but the dealership did eventually come through. I have to again acknowledge Mike for looking out for me. Glad it worked out for us both!
I love the car- am in the process of purchasing a second (used) one for my youngest son. It's a little zippy for a teenager, but I recall seeing a "teenager" mode in the settings-- need to investigate.
@@ModestMaker if it were me I would have it looked at while it's under warranty, but it's your call !! Nice car can't wait til my chevy cruze gives up the ghost so I can get some g.m. electric vehicle. I live in michigan, g.m . All the way for me.
Thanks for the review. I have been looking at the EUV for over a year and even had one on order from a local Phoenix dealer. I cancelled the order after not even been accepted by GM after 5 months. The only concern I have for the EUV and likely other EVs is the effects of extreme heat in Phoenix and also what you experience in Tucson. You indicate that you garage your EUV. My concern is that my garage gets extremely hot in the summer often exceeding the outdoor ambient temps. I would think this would cause the battery cooling system to run frequently while garaged. Can you share your experience in this regard - both when charging and at other times as well. Thanks.
Sure! I believe having the EUV garaged helps. I never hear the battery cooling system come on while the car is parked even with temperatures outside exceeding 110F. The only time I hear extraneous fans come on is when I power things up. I didn't know what this was originally, but suspect this is part of the battery preservation. In response to your question, I just checked the energy console which shows how my battery is being utilized. After close to 2K on the odometer, the console shows a lifetime 4.0 mi/kWh average. My driving and accessories take 82% of the battery; climate control is 16%; and "battery conditioning" is only 2%. The current garage temperature is 109 degrees Fahrenheit and there is no fan or other audible conditioning device engaged. I have read in other threads that keeping the car plugged in is one way to avoid strain on the battery from battery conditioning while parked. I haven't thought about this until I read your post, but now might keep it plugged in 24 hours when not driving (just in case), although I suspect this is not ideal for the electrical grid. Hope this helps.
Great video. The fan noise I’m unfamiliar with, as well as the software issue, as I have a 2023 Bolt EV 1LT. I ordered it in June 2022 and it came in March of this year. I’m a part-time Uber driver and already have over 24,000 miles on it. It’s perfect as a ride share vehicle with the Apple car play. Check out some of my videos, we even took it on an almost 3,000 mile road-trip.
Perhaps the battery recall? GM honored with a replacement and by shifting their supplier from LG to Samsung. I have seen positive reviews on how GM handled that. The car has been solid thus far but I admittedly only have 1300 miles on the odometer.
Good to know. It’s only happened one other time since purchase. Since I am close to 5K on miles, it must have been something I was doing in regards to technique. I will keep an eye on this.

We love ours as well. We just got a bunch of discount maintenance coupons for oil and transmission service - none of which we need 😊.
Excellent review. I came to your channel after your ebike review. Have you been riding less due to the unbearable heat in the Southwest lately?
Yup - impossible to ride right now in 110F. Summer in AZ is like winter in the midwest- can't do much right now unless we're up at 5:00 am.
Thank you! Your channel is an oasis of technical sanity and civility.
Thanks! That is the goal- glad translates.
Keep up the work 🎉

This review mirrors my own experience quite closely... and my Bolt EUV is identical to this one.

The shifting problem could be an issue with the parking brake. I think that was a recall issue a few months ago. Or not.
It’s only happened once more after 2500 miles. Shutting down, firmly pressing the brake and turning back on seems to fix it.

Agreed- I LOVE this car. I will find out more regarding the fan noise during the 5K tire rotation and checkup.
Any idea why Consumer Reports have this vehicle reliability as "far below average"?

Limberlost is pretty bad! Hello from Tucson.
... and right next to the auto dealerships - great place to test drive ;)
On my 2016 Nissan Leaf SV, if I shut it off without first putting into park, it will do something similar.
