Tbh all I want is a changeling 😭 I was so disappointed when dnd online didn't have them (despite playing in literal Eberron!) and was hoping Baldur's Gate would :(
I wish they'd expand the Tieflings to be more like the original conception, pre-4th Edition. The massively lore-breaking retcon that was Asmodeus somehow managing to rewrite the entire Multiverse using thirteen normal-ass warlocks just so that all tieflings now look like Cambions was a terrible idea and limited all the wonderfully unique variations you could have. Basically you went from being able to have a tiefling that looks totally normal, but their shadow moves independently from them. Or if they got angry a demonic silhouette overlayed on top of you. Or your skin was covered in porcupine spines. Or you had goat legs. Or maybe your fingertips ended in adder heads. But most importantly, you weren't just limited to having a human base. You're an orc whose ancestor got down with a demon, or a night hag, or a yugoloth? Cool, enjoy being the winner of the worst case of the genetic lottery in history as you're born with a scorpion tail. Or maybe you're a halfling with scaly skin and goat eyes. In essence, tieflings were never a "race", but a mutation that cropped up in most every race's bloodline where someone in the family tree had a dalliance with a fiend. In short, tieflings used to be the ultimate ginger. Now they're just knock-off draenei. And every year more and more people come into the hobby oblivious to the wonderful creative bombshell that was stolen from us.
@@Tibone15 Yeah. Planetouched as a whole (Aasimaar, Genasi, Tieflings and a few others) was essentially more like a template that you could play around with creatively. 2nd Edition actually has a very famous 'Tiefling Appearance Table' where you could roll for your tiefling's weird appearance quirks and even possibly unique tiefling abilities or traits, if you wanted to make things especially random and strange.
@@Tibone15 Perhaps. Though I honestly don't think it would be that difficult to simply release an 'Expanded Planetouched' sourcebook - especially after they decided to pull half-orcs and half-elves and turned them into 'subrace templates' where you can pick and choose the benefits from the different parents. Planetouched is just the same deal where you have the tiefling stats and then you pick and choose which of the other racial qualities you want to swap in for.
