@ianrogers41 if I recall right Duck and Cover was thought up at a time when nuclear weapons had smaller yields and would mostly be delivered via bomber. 16:24 afaik it was the Americans who insisted on the "i" in "aluminium" - just to then do a 180 and drop it as soon as everyone else had given in and adopted it.
actually not quite In 1808, Sir Humphry Davy identified the existence of the metal in alum, which he at first named "alumium" and later "aluminum." Davy proposed the name aluminum when referring to the element in his 1812 book Elements of Chemical Philosophy, the name was switched to aluminium 6 months later in the second edition of the same book to fit the -ium suffix of other metals like chromium and titanium then in 1828 webster put aluminum as the official spelling in the U.S. dictionary and it kind of stuck since then
@@tezlaactual6582 According to the summary on Wikipedia, the American scientific community went all-in on -ium since the 1810s, and despite Webster's use on -um in his dictionary, the -ium spelling stayed more common until the later 1890s. The rest of the world on the other hand needed a moment to settle on the -ium spelling the Americans had popularized, but didn't follow them in flipping back later.

It could also be a code phrase like Bioshock’s “would you kindly” one. From what it looks like to me anyway.
@@assassinalphawolf8250 I don't think so it actually what it says in the tube and train stations in the UK seeing as they were in the tube station
@@AbcdEfg-ld4zf true. Although, the guy or robot and/or AI says mind the gap at the end of what he says to you is REAL suspicious, in a similar manner of the way Atlas says “would you kindly” in Bioshock
@@AbcdEfg-ld4zf at least that’s what it reminds me of. But all we can do is wait and see for now at least
Awesome the devs got Baldermort to do the VO. I cant think of any Brit better for it.
This intro gave me Bioshock vibes in a big way. The set pieces, the train crash, the mysterious, faceless man talking to you... Fantastic stuff I cant wait to see more.
Baldemort voicing the opening instantly hooked me. Can't wait to see where this goes!
I hope Joshua shows up
Different game
@theoriginalcosmicwanderer I think he means as a reference
Your mission: beware the MP's and find Joshua.
You're an MP!
@@molassesman4066No, you're an MP!!!
whoa hearing baldermort for the opening is crazy, man has one of the best voices in 40k lore youtube
I love that baldermort is the narrator!
Very excited for this series. Fallout London mod has been fantastic so far.
Love the opening by Baldemort, he’s one of my favorite 40k loretubers
The protect and survive sound is creepy but spot on
I snorted and Mtn Dew came out my nose at the Destiny 2 reference. Thanks Zach..
Oh cool, it's Baldermort!
Two kidnapped Americans being expiramented on by a post nuclear underground British boogyman organization in London? Interesting story, I like this mod so far.
Yooo what?!? The into is narrated by Baldemort?!? THAT'S RAD!!! He's one of the best Warhammer lore RUclipsrs out there IMO
I love the "The Jerk" reference with with coffee mug.
is that fucking baldemort on the intro!
"welcome gentle listener, today we'll be talking about the different factions and lore of the Fallout universe, because war... War never changes."
So fuckin' cool that he'll be immortalized in the Fallout universe. Today was a good day
When in elementary school we had those old crank sharpeners and the one in my class didn’t have the casing on it so the teacher just had the trash can under it to catch the shavings
Holy shit, Baldermort popping in with the intro was an unexpected surprise
Ah fallout london, i am so glad to see what zach and mike make of the city of my birth
BALDEMORT YESSSSSSSSS i love his distractible openings
Baldamort narrates!
is that intro Uncle Bauldermort? Praise be, the ambassador to the god emperor's word is with us at all times.
Kinda fun fact. The reason why the mod is telling you to take cover in the tube stations is because back in WW2 that is what the average Londoner did during The Blitz
If you didn't have family in the country or a backyard for an Anderson shelter (weird homemade bomb shelters that were actually pretty effective), you could just walk into any station and sit on the platform untill the bombings were over
The line, "No, I never got that title in Destiny 2" when referring to Wayfarer filled me with both nostalgia and sadness.
Baldemort did the intro to this?!?!?!?! I love that man's voice.
British scientist: Though dna sequencing and careful conditioning we have created the ideal American
Zach: Hi I'm Za-ech
Oh! They got Baldermort to voice the intro, nice!
22:34 a new hand touches the beacon
That's fucking Baldermort!!
I never realized Baldermort was the narrator in the opening. God how did I not hear it was him the first time
This whole mod exceeded ny expectations. Captures the tone if Fallout perfectly while moving it across the pond. Also a wonderful love letter to British culture.
Pond?
@@LoyalandTrue. Across the pond means on the other side of the atlantic ocean (with the pond being the Atlantic)
The European Civil War is actual lore from the main fallout games after the resource wars
The introduction is baldemort, a 40k RUclipsr
I was partly expecting ar some point to just hear in the distance "YOU'RE AND MP." "NO YOU'RE AN MMPPP."
I like how the mood of this is immediately much more ominous and hostile. Bringing back that old school Fallout 1 mood.
It actually takes place after 1 before 2 I’ve been told
Was that fucking Baldermort reading the opening narration?! Hell yeah.
28:45
The average american's reaction to public transit that actually works
You guys always entertain, you two deserve the world
You enjoy racism do you?
@@andrewsims4123 what?
@@andrewsims4123me when I’m trying to cause a fight on the internet:
I’m so exited to see your play through of Fallout London I’ve avoided other gameplays just to enjoy watching it on your channel
Thank god I found you guys again, I've been looking for a good series on this and I remembered your Fallout New Vegas videos
Saw Al playing this and my first thought was: I wonder when Mike and Zack are gonna pounce on this, and here you are lmao
You guys are the friggin best, can't wait to see this series
Is it just me, or is that introductory narrator Baldemort our faithful Servant.
You can live out your dreams in London of saying "You're dead, governa" while lunging at a random enemy.
Fun fact: Blowing into a cartridge not only doesn't help, it accelerates the degradation of the connectors by introducing moisture from your breath into the cartridges, causing the connectors to corrode faster. The thing that actually helped it was removing and reinserting the cartridge as the friction between the cartridge connectors and the device's connectors rubbed off any material affecting the connection.
I took the Sleepwalker perk as I thought it would be fun. The first time I slept (after quite a few hours playing the game) I woke up on the bridge of a ship docked beside London Airport. The morning weather was highly irradiated and I had one radax. The ship was also few feet from the dock so I had to jump carefully and you really do not want to go for a swim in this game.
Oh, after watching both this start and the one that MATN has done... Its neat that Smythe is gender locked to the player.
The European Civil War is referencing actual Fallout lore. Europe pretty much drained itself of all its resources fighting over those same recourses.
ah, I recognize the speaker during the intro. That's Baldemorte from the channel of the same name
Damn they got baldermort to narrate.
is it just me or did that intro cinematic give anyone else goosebumps.
“I’m a MP!”
Holy shit, Baldermort's the intro narrator!
"Mind the Gap" - Railway and Tube station announcement / written at all stations.
This is going to be a great series
I love the football they found was patchy and worn on the edges of each hexagon... that was a certified "We know what we're doing" moment
Brooos, that's a cold open! 👏 Folon Team NAILED the gravitas of the series' opening monologues!
Past this point, though, I'll leave the video unfinished until I begin my own campaign in the London Wasteland.
Love the extended “The Jerk” reference
“Water with glue in it” is the best description of skim milk I’ve ever heard.
The symbol on the wall is similar to the Freemasons Square and Compass. The main difference is that with the real symbol there is a G in the center and both legs of the compass are over the square. This one kind of looks like it’s referring to the fellowcraft level of masonry. (Source: am a freemason for a lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons)
