For all those who don't understand chess, that's what the King's Leap bosses quotes mean. The pawns: They only move one space and that's why they say "one by one by one". I think this one is obvios but just adding. The Knight: The Knight moves as an L shaped movement. The Bishop: The bishops move diagonally around any space, and that's why he says he got you in every angle. The Rook: The Rook can only move horizontally or vertically in straight lines. That's why he says that beating you was straightforward. The Queen: The queen can move horizontally, vertically and diagonally around any spaces, and that makes a check symbol which I suppose that's why she say check when killing you.

THEORY TIME: Angel and devils death quote, wish you may, wish you might, your soul is now trapped in the night, is the only one with no quotation marks. Seems like a mistake until you see that the badge for beating them has a description that says “survive the nightmare” and the battle is called one hell of a dream. My theory is that it takes place in a dream or a nightmare. But there is more. I think the reason they looked so scared when you win is because they found a way to reach you while sleeping, and made a deal that said whoever loses has their soul trapped in the night. Why would they do this? Think of the way 7:50 their battle is reached, it involves standing on a specific tombstone and pressing your devices respective key combo. Maybe they are dead and the only way they can leave is to beat someone at the boss battle. The one who wins gets to live, but the one who loses has to be stuck in the grave. This would explain the dream theme and the death quote. Assuming cup head were to lose, his soul would be “trapped in the night” no matter how hard he wishes. I think my brain needs a break from typing all of that.

For all those who don't understand chess, that's what the King's Leap bosses quotes mean.
The pawns: They only move one space and that's why they say "one by one by one". I think this one is obvios but just adding.
The Knight: The Knight moves as an L shaped movement.
The Bishop: The bishops move diagonally around any space, and that's why he says he got you in every angle.
The Rook: The Rook can only move horizontally or vertically in straight lines. That's why he says that beating you was straightforward.
The Queen: The queen can move horizontally, vertically and diagonally around any spaces, and that makes a check symbol which I suppose that's why she say check when killing you.

THEORY TIME: Angel and devils death quote, wish you may, wish you might, your soul is now trapped in the night, is the only one with no quotation marks. Seems like a mistake until you see that the badge for beating them has a description that says “survive the nightmare” and the battle is called one hell of a dream. My theory is that it takes place in a dream or a nightmare. But there is more. I think the reason they looked so scared when you win is because they found a way to reach you while sleeping, and made a deal that said whoever loses has their soul trapped in the night. Why would they do this? Think of the way 7:50 their battle is reached, it involves standing on a specific tombstone and pressing your devices respective key combo. Maybe they are dead and the only way they can leave is to beat someone at the boss battle. The one who wins gets to live, but the one who loses has to be stuck in the grave. This would explain the dream theme and the death quote. Assuming cup head were to lose, his soul would be “trapped in the night” no matter how hard he wishes. I think my brain needs a break from typing all of that.
