The final cut makes it seem like Randel went to his apartment, re-edited the movie, and showed it to Dante all in one night.
I don't understand why Kevin ended the movie like this. I wanted to see Dante and Randall finally become content in life. I never would imagine clerks would have such a depressing ending to it.. Dante really got the shitty end of the stick in my opinion.. The woman he loves dies with his child after all the bad romances he's experienced? I just don't believe Randall would be so shitty to Dante after his heart attack. Yeah Randall is an asshole but you can tell he cared about Dante throughout the three movies so I don't understand why such a depressing ending. I think with Randall, he became so scared and obsessed with almost dying that it wasn't that he didn't care for Dante, he was doing a double duty of trying to forget about being that close to losing everything he has finally and stroking his ego to make it seem like his life wasn't a waste. Of course it wasn't a waste. Because he has riches he doesn't understand until the end when Dante dies.

I think there's an interesting movie here buried under Smith's frantic stoner editing. A lot of these scenes play so much better when there's not constantly music playing in the background. There's many small personal moments here that remind the audience of the character's arcs. Also, there are actual customers in a movie called CLERKS in these deleted scenes!
I always thought Kevin James was a terrible editor. Cuts one shot to the other in rapid succession. Let a dedicated editor do your movies and it would be much better to do so.

There's so many deleted scenes clearly missing and it's a little bit frustrating. There's clearly scenes missing which would set up whatever that string trap Randal pulls from behind the counter. Kev said that there would be a deleted post-credits scene in which a "Karen" customer has a conflict with Dante and Randal over covid masks or something included, and it wasn't included. I am very disappointed with this DVD. The DVD is also missing the documentaries that are on the Blu Ray, but I'm more curious about why they left out deleted scenes...?
