- Dan is an angler who seeks out forgotten ponds in the southeast of England in search of the wildie, an older strain of feral carp. His diligent research leads him to a castle moat, an ancient abbey, a manor house stew pond-and finally-a vicarage pool. Using a simple approach, he fishes with an old split cane spinning rod and a centre pin reel, a bruised old shoulder bag and nothing more complicated than bread as his choice of bait. This film exemplifies the way we fish at Fallon's Angler: pure and simple, with a backdrop that leaves you lost in history and time.
I have just found your site and watched Wildie II. I would like to compliment you in producing such an atmospheric and sensitive film.
Far removed from the modern concept of angling, and very much in tune with my own, that there is more to fishing than just catching fish.
I look forward to watching them all.
Thank you.
Ronnie.
Nice to see the art of fishing for Carp with a centre pin reel still being practiced.☺🎣
Pure and Simple
Anther beautiful little film. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you for making it.
Thanks Pete
Wow!!! It's very cool! An incredible combination of ancient history and the simple old and proven method of carp fishing! Incredible vibe!
Beautiful video as always.
These wild carp are not the biggest but they are wonderful to see.
Gr André de vries.
Wonderful. Not a bait boat in sight. Well done, Dan (and Nick).
many thanks
Thanks Waterman. Glad you enjoyed it!
Another wonderful film, fascinating to see the carp take the bread off the top in those ancient pools. A lovely setup too, thank you for posting.
A beautiful atmospheric video with a great score to go with it. It wonderful to see small ponds and simple tackle producing stunning fish, and an angler happy with quality not quantity.
Glad you enjoyed it
proper carp fishing, fabulous film, well done
What a wonderful video.
Thanks Jonny
Thanks for this, really enjoyed it.
a surreal and marvellous journey of fishing consciousness, thanks, you must come to Latvia...
absolut beautiful carps and greate experience to go fishing like this ... i really enjoy this film and all the other you've shown 👍👍
thank you so much
Loved every single second!
Thanks Will.
Great video thanks very much !
Proper shaped carp.
A wonderful film; some might say off-beat. Beautifully edited and put together - please keep these coming Mr Fallon
Brilliant many thanks, that's exactly my kind of fishing. Sadly so difficult to find theae days.
Enchanting. Thank you for a few moments of escape.
everything is so in reality, but it seems to us that these are miracles. Thank you for your work, it’s very subtle and to the point!
thanks Anton
Superb music and film 👌👍
Many thanks for your response.
Beautiful.
Nameless pre-reformation fish beat Cromwellian mirrors any day.
'Cromwellian mirrors'...I like it.
Wonderful! Those amazing mirrored wildies at Minster Abbey were extraordinary. And the darkness of the little wildie in the final pond. I think I recognised that little pond in the castle grounds at the start. It was "no fishing" when I stayed on the estate a couple of years ago, but the river held some lovely tench.
Glad you enjoyed, Peter 🙏🏻
The word jealous doesn't come close to how I'm feeling after watching that.
I think what Dan shows is with a little homework there are plenty of great places to fish without relying on commercial fisheries.
Superb film 👌
I didn’t know they had video cameras a hundred years ago! Nice
of course, all shot on film!
Another fallons angler gem and well put together.
must get myself down there soon with the same simple tackle this time.
Great film , personally found the music awful though ,
A lovely video! I've always wanted to catch a true 'Wildie', I often see venues state on their websites that there are a few Wildies amongst their stocks but this is almost always a misinterpretation of what I'm actually looking for, instead they're are more of the attrition king carp that have become forgotten in the water. Not a Wildie. But you have found some gem locations here, I hope they stay protected. Thanks for sharing the experience.
It's a hard thing to define, a true wild carp is probably not present in Britain, but descendants from Europe certainly exist, and are not from the king carp strain. Feral carp are probably the best way to describe them and can be found here in Britain.
Interesting, thanks! Well the dark one he caught I'd accept as near enough for me! It's different enough to be worthy of putting the time in. I hear the higher lakes of the lake district has a few questionable perhaps ferel strain Wildies in there, I believe Carl and Alex managed to get permission to fish one and made a video. Anyway, I love your narrations Sir! and the compositions of your videos are the closest thing to Passion for Angling I've found. I'd love to see one about Big Rudd from an old estate lake with the same approach. Tight lines!
Lovely ❤
