As a rock and metal fan in my 70s, I had never before even considered attending a concert by a huge pop group. XG is different however, and I saw their concert at Wembley this week. They were simply excellent: their singing, rapping and dancing are absolutely top notch. They are highly versatile, and while many of their songs include poppy elements, many are little masterpieces imho and many are completely off the wall. More XG please! The Alphas (fan base) will guide you I'm sure.
If you're into rap, then Woke Up would be a good next choice. If you want to hear really smooth r&b with gorgeous harmonies check out Winter Without You - the First Take version is superior to then official release (the vocals are clearer and the harmonies are breathtaking). Shooting Star is a good balance between rap and singing.
XG is a Japanese girl group considering themselves as X-Pop because they don’t be restricted musically. They are doing things their own way. Check out their 2K R&B inspired song, Winter Without You. Even better, check out their live performance on the music show ‘it’s Live’ with live band! 😃

They also just did shows in Manchester and London as part of their European leg of their current first world tour. Before that they sold out all their shows they did in Asia and America, and even had to add a few extra ones due to high demand.
Comparing it to Kpop ? No Kpop group is making mvs like XG. You need to react to more to see how different , then compare. You'll see the difference as a group and how XG's management produces their videos. You'll also see how influenced by western R&B and hip-hop has been to them and how they pay tribute to the greats in interviews and in their songs. XG is different than any other Kpop group, they are Xpop.
How come it doesn't give you American Rap and R&B vibes? I bet you if you don't look at them, you would think they were an American Hip Hop group. Just cuz they're asian don't make them K-Pop. That's Korean Pop music. They're Japanese. They do promote out of Korea, since they're using the popularity of K-Pop to go global, but that would be the closest to K-Pop their genre would be. Their music is heavily influenced by American music.
Some people say they’re JPOP, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I don’t think the ethnic makeup of the group matters more than where the production of the group is from. I’ll accept XPOP, but if I had to just choose from KPOP or JPOP, they are KPOP as they are produced by a Korean label and thus have more of the KPOP sound and style.

XG is XPOP which means global pop. But they self identify as hip hop and R&B. That said they are all Japanese.
