- This is a group I came across on RUclips the other day and I had to post a feature.
They are called ‘Son Con Cuero’ named after the famous song by Ray Barretto. They are based in Nantes, France and play traditional Cuban Son with a modern focus while paying homage to the greats of the genre.
The Tresero François Chommaux plays in the traditional style with lines that are simple, thoughtful and elegant.
I’m really digging this group, I certainly hope they have an album in the works.
Son Con Cuero are:
François Chommaux - Tres Cubano
Wilfredo Benavides - Lead Vocals
Cristian Zarate - Vocals, percussion
Aurélien Bucco - Trumpet
Jérémy Le Gall - Bass
Cyrille Maillard - Bongos
Tobie Koppe - Congas

My channel is not monetized, so I do not make money from my videos. If there are ads running on this video it's because the content is copyrighted and the owner of that copyright is receiving the revenue from the video views.
The song at the end of the video is the classic tune ‘El Reloj De Pastora’ played by the incredible ‘Septeto Trio Los Dos’ who have graciously given me permission to use.
I make and sell Tres Cubano Conversion Kits for Baby Taylor Guitars. The kit can be installed in under 30 minutes with no luthier experience required. They cost $200 (USD) with free shipping worldwide.
You supply the Baby Taylor and I send you everything you need to turn it into a great sounding Cuban Tres.

Maybe...
Although a few years back I did a tutorial of ‘Errante y Bohemio’ as played by Pancho Amat.
I really love this group though.
I just might have to do one of their tunes.
Thanks!
Cheers.
I did a tutorial on the original version if you are interested.
Hi Paul, very interested. Where can I view the tutorial?

Une bonne copie du Pancho y su Cabildo del son.
Hi Paul, I love your channel! I've gotten to know so many great artists and such great music through your videos, thank you! I am learning to play percussion and am captivated with Cuban music. I also find tres fascinating, even though I can't play it (yet).
I met a tresero called Roberto Pita when I was living in Hannover, Germany. I believe he is originally from Pinar del Río, Cuba. I saw him a couple of times playing with different bands and I really liked his style. Here's a video of him jamming to some gipsy jazz with another great guitar player, thought you might like it: ruclips.net/video/7gIlOLXGbCU/видео.html
Alambre dulce!
Hello,
That’s great to hear!
I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos.
Roberto is fantastic!
Thanks for the heads up.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for him.
Greetings from Canada!
Cheers.
