Belmont Abbey College , home of the Crusaders, is a private Catholic liberal-arts college in Belmont, North Carolina - 15 miles from uptown Charlotte. The college has a little under 1,500 students based on 2015 stats.
The college was founded in 1876 by the Benedictine monks of Belmont Abbey. Belmont Abbey is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and the Order of Saint Benedict. Belmont Abbey is the only college in North Carolina affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.
