I was just listening to some random RUclips Videos while sketching some characters and then found your video for some background audio. Thought it was fitting for making a sketch and by the time I finished the video I thought it was pretty profound. And then I realized you only had like 18 views (At the time of this comment)! Anyways what I should be saying is that this video essay was really well crafted, I thought damn well this was a large channel. Thanks for letting me sketch in peace ✌
Dawg just now watching this back and the audio is doodoo but I’m so late on dropping this anyways so hope yall enjoy And if u don’t enjoy maybe just leave like a pity like/comment idk
forgive me if i'm telling you stuff you already know with this one, if i'm incorrect in diagnosing the issues, or just sounding like a douche. it sounds super thin, like you used too much EQ to remove background noise or something. Good rule of thumb with EQ is to use as little as is necessary. Best fix is to record in a quieter environment. If that isn't possible, then spend more time dialing in the EQ and reference it against a video that has an audio quality that you would like your own videos to have. Using the phone's microphone is also gonna color the sound in a certain way that's virtually impossible to fix completely, but it's not the end of the world. You'd be surprised how often ADR lines recorded on an iphone make it in to the final cut of a movie with a multi-million dollar budget. Izotope's RX software is incredible for cleaning up noisy recordings quickly and easily in post production. I've used it extensively for profession film, television, video game, audiobook and podcast editing. It's a bit pricey for an amateur, but well worth the investment in the long term if you wanna pursue video production as a career. It goes on massive sales quite often, especially when they are announcing a new version of the software. It also has a built-in de-esser to tame the crazy sibilance in your "S"s (her faccccce and eyessssss @ 4:28ish is a good example of this). I can't recommend this software enough for editing dialogue. it is straight up black magic, and it makes cleaning up noisy recordings a thousand times easier than trying to do it all manually. You can probably find a decent de-esser VST plugin for free if you google around a bit as well. Your compression sounds pretty solid and not too overdone. Nice job overall. Really solid video essay, especially for a small channel recording and editing on a phone. The fact that you already noticed the audio quality issues before anyone commented about it shows that you have a great ear for those kind of details. Keep working at it, and you'll be making top tier content before you know it. If you want an upgrade priority list, I'd say 1. get a real computer for recording and editing. Desktop vs laptop doesn't matter, PC vs mac doesn't matter. Just make sure it has a decent CPU and enough RAM to handle video editing software. I started with a shitty $700 HP Envoy that i bought on credit and upgraded overtime as i could afford it. Davinci Resolve is free, and it kicks ass, so use it instead of dicking around with cracked software or shelling out for adobe's ridiculous subscription model. 2. Decent Condenser Mic and an audio interface. You have a lot of options here, but you can get some entry level stuff for like $300-500 for the combo. I've been using the same Komplete Audio 6 interface and sE2200 since 2014 for my home setup, and you can get both brand new for like $450. You don't need an Sm7B right away just cause all the big youtubers and podcasters are using them. Avoid USB microphones like the plague. They are hot garbage. Buy the interface first, since a mic is useless without one. 3. a big HDD for backing up projects and stuff. These are dirt cheap now that SSDs are the norm. There's nothing worse than losing a week of work on a big project from a drive failure. 4. Higher end editing software like Resolve Studio or Izotope RX. This kind of stuff can greatly speed up your workflow or take the quality of your content up another 5-20%. I'm an audio engineer by trade, and not a youtuber, but feel free to hit me up if you have any questions about sound-related stuff. You've earned a sub. Keep the manga content comin, brotendo. Your shit is already worth watching, so just keep grinding and ignore the haters.
AYY I APPRECIATE ALL THIS MY GUY 🙏🙏 There’s a lot of words in here I don’t understand tbh but it’s still a lot of very useful information! Upgrading my setup has always been in the back of my mind but in order to do that I’d need to get my money up fr 😭😭 Regardless, I really do appreciate all the advice, I’ll be sure to hit u up if I find myself getting increasingly lost in video making related stuff. Thanks again 🙏🙏🙏
Feedback on your video thumbnail: Effect = noun Affect = verb Example 1: Art has an effect on people. Example 2: Art affects people. Your thumbnail should use “affect” instead of “effect.” Note - Under a different context, “affect” can be a noun, but that use-case is probably not relevant/appropriate to this situation.
