That but also if you watched the video, the longer distance means they burn a lot more fuel. Not only is that an expense but also means they can carry less passengers and cargo so costs going up, revenue going down, and the losses add up. If they’re going to lose money on certain routes they’re probably going to cancel some flights. Also id imagine less people are trying to fly to the region currently.
True, but they've used their good relationship with Oman and Oman Air to operate some flights out of Muscat, even while the other countries' airspace was closed.
@DevinZA Abu Dhabi closed most of the time, Dubai sees a lot of flights (maybe evacuation?)... Etihad also much smaller and finances were already very bad. They might cease to exist.
@avgeekmom.380 I looked today on flightradar24..Dubai is about 1 flight in 5..Qatar looks completely closed...but one shaheed drone could change all that
one thing for sure is the airport will take advantage of the travellers....most ridiculously priced airport around, you need a mortgage for a bottle of water lol
Was hoping to see it some day some day, so am very sorry to hear the new Istanbul Airport is already gouging. A dumb move. Nowadays, news travels fast between travelers. Once a stop gets a bad reputation, based on something as simple as the cost of a bottle of water (now between $14 - &17 at the bad airports), it is very hard to shake off.
Even Turkey received some Missiles, the question does this resulted in air closure in Saudi or Turkey? No, the Saudi air space is very large, and its main airports in Riyadh and Jeddah never stopped in this crisis
@birdyflying4240 Iran did. Through proxies, but that is not the point. If your next door neighbors are fighting, and one of them shoots you or burns down your house, are you suing the one who started the fight or the one who did it?
Where are they getting their money from with tourism shut down ? They will have to go cap in hand again to Abu Dhabi but they are suffering with oil not being sold and tourism also shut down
@Jim-on6zu Not sure what you mean they have no oil. The UAE made $77 billion from oil in 2025. Emirates made about half that in revenue in the same year.
@Jim-on6zuTaken from a fairly straightforward Google search: Dubai does not have direct access to Abu Dhabi's oil revenue, as oil wealth is largely managed by each emirate individually. However, as part of the UAE, Abu Dhabi provides significant financial support and stability, particularly through bailouts or funding for federal projects during economic downturns, helping to sustain Dubai's growth.
@똥쌀짜식 I know they're flying between Sydney and Christchurch still, I think their aircraft are just trapped in Auckland as that's a much safer place for them to be right now.
@HonuFlight Emirates may need to be trapped in NZ because there's no fuel to go back to UAE..... :( I planned to go to UK via Dubai but it seems It may not possible in foreseeable future. I live in Wellington. I flied to Brisbane by Qantas then Dubai and Birmingham by Emirates last year. Now I don't know I can do it again .. I ve been very very sad because I must go to UK.
I was booked on EK 216 LAX to DXB on Feb 27 had to cancel the day before due to an injury. That flight got diverted to FCO and passengers were stranded for 4 days, just thankful I did what I had to. I pray all those stranded folks go to there final destinations safely. 😢
@signalfire6 & @matus-yy9cz No idea! But I figured hoping people get home safely was a little more productive than conducting a theological debate in the comment section.
Why did you assume, Emirates pays the same price as everyone for the fuel? Also most flights like the Moscow one you mentioned and around 6 months back a flight to Milan from Dubai, are like empty on their a380s especially on weekdays. Only their Indian flights and UK flights are packed.
‘Only their Indian and U.K. flights are packed’. You don’t get out much do you. Most Asian and Australian/NZ and Nth America fights are very heavily used.
@jeanmyers1787 ok, but currently the middle east is not able to sell fuel due to the closure of the hormuz strait hence the fuel price shot up. They got too much excess fuel that they are not able to sell so they rather make money out of it in this instance through their planes. Another thing that you fail to account is other countries have tax on fuel and ofcourse the logistics of bringing it that incur charges both of which can be avoided by emirates due to domestic production.
The south am A380 route to Sao Paulo has been FULL for over two years since ive been taking it....i use it 4 times a year....it flys 4 or 5 flights a week....hmmm....maybe 6....fyi
you are right with the additional fuel of around 20-24 tonnes on a A380 for Emirates if the flight is two hours longer. But the reduced payload is simply wrong. For a 5 hour flight the payload is maximized by the zero fuel weight, not the mtow.
I have to appreciate your detail and work and accurate research information as well as logical and informative view on their business model one of the best aviation channels I’ve ever come across. I hope you hit a 1 million one day.
My mom just asked me today if she would be able to fly back later this month to Boston with emirates return flight. Honestly, no idea. This is a bad situation we are in
Perhaps BXB-SVO is not the best example of a route that becomes uneconomical, as A380s can fly for 17 hours at their maximum takeoff weight. Emirates can still fly Dubai to Auckland directly still, however, Emirates can no longer fly to Los Angeles directly.
Emirates Airline and the growing conflict in the Middle East.Emirates is one of the strongest airlines in the world. It has a powerful brand, a huge global network, and strong financial support from Dubai. For years it has been considered one of the most stable airlines in international aviation. However, there is a serious risk that many people are not discussing. The current conflict in the Middle East is expanding and becoming more unpredictable. Airspace restrictions, security concerns, and rising insurance costs are already affecting aviation in the region. Many airlines are being forced to reroute flights, which increases fuel costs and operational complexity. Most business plans are based on predictable risks such as fuel prices, economic cycles, or competition. But large geopolitical conflicts are very difficult to calculate in advance. If the conflict continues to grow and does not end quickly, airlines in the region will face serious pressure. For Emirates, the situation is especially sensitive because Dubai is a global transit hub. The airline depends heavily on connecting passengers traveling between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. If major routes become unsafe or restricted, the entire hub model could be disrupted. In addition, insurance costs for aircraft flying near conflict zones can rise dramatically. Some insurers may even refuse coverage for certain routes. That alone can ground flights or make them financially unsustainable.Tourism is another factor. Dubai receives millions of visitors every year. If travelers begin to see the region as unstable, passenger demand could drop sharply. Many analysts assume that conflicts are short-term events. But history shows that some conflicts last years, not months. If the current situation continues longer than expected, even very strong companies can face financial stress. My personal prediction is that if the conflict in the Middle East escalates and lasts for a long period, airlines in the region - including Emirates - could face a serious financial crisis.Of course, Emirates is a very strong organization and has survived previous global shocks such as the financial crisis and the COVID‑19 pandemic. But this time the geopolitical risk may be much harder to control. The key question is simple: how long will this conflict last?If it continues for years instead of months, the global aviation map will change dramatically and my personal prediction is that Emirates will go bankrupt Because all millionaire will leave Emirates The only country who will benefit from this disaster is Turkey they will fly anyone for lower price than Emirates This is my personal prediction to make clear the price of war started by Zionist in Israel
Emirates Airline is facing some real challenges with the conflict in the Middle East, but it’s likely to manage by adapting its routes to avoid restricted airspace and using its smaller, flexible fleet of Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s. While regional instability and airspace closures create risks, the airline is handling things with contingency plans. Its long-term survival really depends on how well it navigates the changing geopolitical situation and adjusts its business model.
glad that i booked flights from hk through shanghai to go to uk at easter; cathay, air china and china eastern can all transit through russia at present
@mk3tsi lol because today they are selling tickets through the GCC again, that's why prices are back to "normal"... But nobody is going to buy a ticket with a stop in Dubai now!
Thank you. We are a lucky couple who were due to return to Uk From South Africa. On Sat 28th Feb. Our taxi did not arrive ,and we gradually learned of the catastrophe. We were fortunate to get a return flight on Turkish, via Istanbul, 8 days later. I pity all those marooned at Dubai Airport. Will Emirates survive??
Самалёты крайне мало загрезняют планету. К тому же спрос на транспорт остался, и просто стал менее эффективным. Тоесть только больше загрязнений в итоге.
Flights from DXB to Georgia or Azerbaijan have gone from around 2.5 to 5 hours - literally double the flying time! For what was meant to be a short route
hi there! great vid! im autistic and while i dont have a special interest in aviation, i really really love channels like this that like... idk give me enough info that, if i wanted to get really into planes, i could. it's high quality. subscribed, hoping you'll make more videos exploring the impact of the global state rn on aviation!!
Although I agree with you. That is not how geopolitics work. It has happened since the beginning of time and it will be until we disappear as species. The stronger powers fight for control. Persia, rome, Greece. Spain, France, England the Soviet union, and many others. The US is now the top dog and if the US fails another will rise and do the same. Most people are OK. But the elites and politicians aren't. Therefore, this will never end.
Never Ever underestimate the UAE. A country that built itself from scratch a mere 70 years ago into the marvel that it is now. The leadership and people of the UAE are resilient and positive. They will get through this. From a person who had the privilege and opportunity of living there in the past.
It’s not like emirates cancelled flights because going around made the flights too long, it was because their hub was under attack.
I think Qatar Airways is suffering more than Emirates.
Yeah total grounding no one’s talking about Qatar. Emirates is still doing a lot of heavy lifting these days
@avgeekmom.380 Etihad also getting hit hard in Abu Dhabi. Though Emirates still getting wholloped, DXB was hit a few hours before this video went up.
True, but they've used their good relationship with Oman and Oman Air to operate some flights out of Muscat, even while the other countries' airspace was closed.
@DevinZA Abu Dhabi closed most of the time, Dubai sees a lot of flights (maybe evacuation?)...

@d.b.cooper1 A disgusting airport connecting a shitty airline.
😂😂 moron
Was hoping to see it some day some day, so am very sorry to hear the new Istanbul Airport is already gouging. A dumb move.

@gardengeek3041 it surely cannot be that high at IST??
Saudi Arabia and Turkey will be competing for aviation dominance in the region.
Naw. More like Turkey, Egypt and Ethiopia.
Isn't Saudi receiving nukes 😅
Even Turkey received some Missiles, the question does this resulted in air closure in Saudi or Turkey? No, the Saudi air space is very large, and its main airports in Riyadh and Jeddah never stopped in this crisis
Don't forget Azerbaijan
Saudi cant and won’t, too restrictive to serve alcohol inside Saudi airspace
Wait until some commercial flight gets shot down for getting too close to some invisible line.
Did MH17 change anything?
@mark.harveythat was a plane not an airport. It's about the trust of the airport being safe to use.
Their government will almost certainly just throw money at them. That will keep them going. Thank you for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
the airline is a pet project of the royal family from what ive read
Same happened in Pandemic, the UAE government helped them to recover.
What money? Without oil sales?
@elscientist most middle east airlines are? if it its turkish or emirates or ethiad dont matter
Emirates should sue US/Israel governments for losses as a result of illegal war.
It makes more sense to sue Iran, it is the one attacking them, blaming other countries is stupid.
US/Israel war helps them in the long run. Iran will be destroyed forever and UAE will be safe forever
@ingGS I am so glad people like you exist just to know i am not that dumb ,
@birdyflying4240 Iran did. Through proxies, but that is not the point. If your next door neighbors are fighting, and one of them shoots you or burns down your house, are you suing the one who started the fight or the one who did it?
@tulaihtilaihi1271 Yes, your reasoning is super intellectual. Enlighten us more.
the Al Maktoum family would never let Emirates go bust
Where are they getting their money from with tourism shut down ? They will have to go cap in hand again to Abu Dhabi but they are suffering with oil not being sold and tourism also shut down
He who live by the sword dies by the sword.
Who lives by the sword?
@DITDITDITDITDITDITDITalready 78 upvoted and counting. Go figure.
@DITDITDITDITDITDITDIT
Right? Hadsanalfa's comment doesn't make any sense in the context of this video.
Emirate Airline made alot of money during the Kuwaiti war
⚔️⚔️⚔️
This isn't really crippling them though. The airline is fully owned by the government
The Dubai government are also suffering as tourism has come to a stand still which is their main revenue stream they have no oil
@Jim-on6zu Not sure what you mean they have no oil. The UAE made $77 billion from oil in 2025. Emirates made about half that in revenue in the same year.
@kenka2510that’s Abu Dhabi not Dubai mate

@Jim-on6zuyou think Dubai is dependent on tourism?

Youre quoting the dead dude who had a lot of blood on his hands orchestrating the foreign policies and warcrimes that killed and bombed people in Asia
I arrived in Auckland for vacation last Thursday and Emirates had 2 A380s stranded here.
Is Emirate still operating in nz? And on time ??
@똥쌀짜식 I know they're flying between Sydney and Christchurch still, I think their aircraft are just trapped in Auckland as that's a much safer place for them to be right now.
@HonuFlight Emirates may need to be trapped in NZ because there's no fuel to go back to UAE..... :( I planned to go to UK via Dubai but it seems It may not possible in foreseeable future. You think prayer works?
since when praying work????? xD
@signalfire6 & @matus-yy9cz No idea! But I figured hoping people get home safely was a little more productive than conducting a theological debate in the comment section.
I would use my prayers to wish an end to stupid human cruelty and notions of god to be honest. But sure, stranded pax - so sad, so sad
He’s not trying to convince you prayer works… so what is the point of you questioning whether it works or not?
Thanks for the content
Great video mate.. keep uploading such content
You got this Iran ❤
Great video. Subbed.
Great documentary very well researched and excellently made
Nice video!
Feel the Pain now?.... good.

No AI at all...wonderfull!
The script is all AI. So easy to tell "it isn't just..." constantly being phrased is key factor in spotting a chat gpt script.
AI is used by Indians
... because they know what they sound like.
They're all over RUclips, but you never heard them, do you?😂😂
@marioluigi9599 Indians speak funny English that even Trump refused to answer to a Indian reporter right in front of Modi !
@marioluigi9599 you sound like Macaroni 😂😂

Love this channel!!!❤✈️
Glad you're enjoying the channel, thanks for watching! ✈️
Love it
This will work out well for Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. I don't think the Gulf carriers will ever fully recover.
People forget so easily and never learn....
Was always happy with Qatar Airways. Will not change as soon all calms down. Great Airline and reasonable prices in business class. 😊
@WillyBerger-j5e
till ya become one of False Flag target.
thank you for ya sacrifice...
@WillyBerger-j5e QR is famous for exploiting their crews, but as long as people stay ignorant they will keep filling planes
Wait till another Asian airplane went missing or get blown apart in the sky. then it should wipe out the smile on your face forever.
So refreshing to have an aviation channel not using AI commentary! Thank you and keep up the good work!
I’m one of your subscribers now!
Can anyone tell is this AI channel?
They're probably covered by some sort of business interruption insurance
Great video. I assume Istanbul airport should benefit from this
Indeed, potentially other nearby hubs as well!
True
Addis Ababa will probably benefit from this
i need to book flights for 12mth time to Thailand from UK. Emirates was ideal, now seriously rethinking options.

Thanks for the kind words, glad it was helpful! ✈️
Not the green dot aviation ahh music
It is a pity, I planned to fly both airlines this year on my two trips to south east Asia which are now on hold.
I connect in DXB a lot on my way to BKK. My next trip will connect to Taipei
Please fix the map, stands out
This airline rises on the ashes of other regional airlines
Habibis, come to TURKEY ❤
Solution simple : Istanbul!
Let’s hope the numbers go into billions and beyond

It gets us thinking Dubai main source of income is its tourist
I had no idea Iran was being bombed - thanks
The question is not whether Emirates (or the other UAE airlines) will survive, it’s whether the GCC will survive. 😢
If Indian airlines has brain they would take advantage of this as India can fly over Russia

Who cares ?! They can afford it. When they get back to normal they’ll just put up fares to cover this loss.
It survived covid time when there was no flights, so it will survive this too
So sad I was working for Emirates for a quite long time
Flight prices for Europe-Asia already 2-3 x higher... not sure for $3000+ direct flights, I never booked any.
Where are getting these imaginary numbers? I flew to Tokyo 1month ago and now its 100-200eur more expensive.
@mk3tsi lol because today they are selling tickets through the GCC again, that's why prices are back to "normal"...
But nobody is going to buy a ticket with a stop in Dubai now!
$100M a day? Oh lord.
Can you do one on QR? They are more impacted
They’ll be fine
lossing that profit yes but runing costs plunged also they will be fine amd can well afford the blip in trade
Are slots at destinations available for more smaller aircraft? No, all major airports have major slot constraints, so more planes is not an answer
Ethiopia has capitalised on the mayhem and has begun building a world-class airport.
Not even talking about cargo flights via Dubai
They can thank their big 'friend' Uncle Sam for this😂😂😂
بہشت شداد جدید ۔۔۔

I am very intrigued. I bet no, no? 🦊
is there any oil left under the ground?
If any airline can afford it it’s emirates
That will give the planet a breather

Oil fields burning making it better?
Those oil fields burning are really good for the planet
@alanealal4936 'Demand for transport' - OR people could just stay home and not presume 'vacations' meant a different location.
Emirates survived Covid, which hit it much harder and for a lot longer.
Pure research imho and you’re forgetting one thing. Fuel here is very cheap if not ‘free’.
Great video. New subscriber from Johannesburg, South Africa!
Good so happy
