This was actually the first film to be labeled as Avant-garde by the art press of the time. There are only a few other remnants of older works leading up to this. The artist put his house and it's entire estate up as collateral against the cost of production. In the first three years it was a complete failure, but within 10yrs he made nearly $1M franc just off of ticket sales for showings. Never give up!
