my husband (whose account this is) says (and I quite agree) that it's because Bard actually had to think about what he was saying, and therefore it kept him from thinking about the pain. The gene test showed that he had the lowest tolerance for pain, it's just that he had to actively produce summery, pleasant, expletives. Solsikke!
I can just watch this, especially the part 1.30-1.48, over and over again. The combination with Calle just starting to howl into the bowl, Bård´s "Thank you mommy for letting me come along, Mommy I´ve gotten a new flower in my hair. A sunflower!" and Vegards little happy dance and his joy when Bård wins is just awesome. Love it! Thank you for uploading it again!
Perhaps Bård lasted the longest because his mind was focused on creating a story, rather than yelling the same swear words over and over. Just my theory.
Vegard: Only summer! Crocus is spring! Haha, he's such a stern taskmaster while his little brother is going through "helvete"! I think this was one of their funniest bits on the show, an absolute riot!
So fun to watch... at the same time so hard to watch. Love Bard yelling about flowers, the beach, and picnics, sandwich spread and more.. Then Calle yelling satan and f**k. Another silly game/contest that keeps me laughing. (BTW, I love silly) I love watching Bard, Vegard & Calle.
Thanks so much for subbing this! I got the gist of what Calle was saying, but I didn't quite follow Bård. I guess "sunflower" doesn't translate as well as "Satan." ;)
I'v just realized that in the background the band plays The Girl From Ipanema (soo classy to have a jazz band, I love it!). The new lyrics are awesome. Faen, marihøne, satan, crocus, masse små fisk, helvete, SOLSIKKE!!!
Interesting....though (according to the gene test they did) Bard feels pain first, he is the last to remove his hands from the ice water. Bet it's the combination of competitiveness and thinking of nice words, which might distract him from the pain somewhat. Vegard didn't get to say anything, so he didn't last as long.
I am so confused with the language sometimes, I know Norwegians can generally speak English as well, but why does Calle revert the swearing back and forth in English and Norwegian? I think it's cool, I wish I could speak it.
MsStrife1 I think that's pretty common in countries where the English fluency rate is very high. Here in the Netherlands it's the same. Shit is definitely in the top 3 of the most common swear words used, and the average Dutch teen drops the F-bomb more often and more casually than a lot of Americans. They are so common that people use them without anyone (including themselves) even realizing they switched to English. However, we do have many more Dutch swear words than English, so all of them put together Dutch swear words are still considerably more common than the English ones.

Yeah, was thinking the same.
Good insights. The other factor is that Bård is extremely competitive!

'Crocus is spring' Love it. Vegard is so specific.

Your comment describing that part makes it even funnier. XD

No matter what, I always lose it at "LOTS OF SMALL FISH" :''D
words cannot express how much i love this

oh thank god this is back. this is my favorite video.
Oh my gosh - hilarious!! This just makes Bård all the more badass, since they found out that he's genetically more sensitive to pain.

I think when Bard presses his hands against the bowl it helps him win :D
SUNFLOWER SUNFLOWER SUNFLOWER

I saw that video too. In the case of ice though, it acts as an analgesic. So while uncomfortable, it's different than a pain response.
Oh yeah, good point.
Velkommen tilbake,Emma!!!:))) Du har vært dypt savnet!!:)))
CROCUS IS SPRING!! XD
Calle seems really fine afterward xD
I really like Calle, he seems to be a nice guy, but now I´ve got nightmares including his face from 1:45 - 1:47 and the way he says `Satan`....
It's really entertaining to hear how they swear... but did you pay attention to vegard's face while his hands are still in the ice bowl? priceless!
Calle's reaction were the best :D "Satan" :D
BARD. I FUCKING LOVE YOU QUQ
oH my God, I was laughing so hard my chest hurt and my mom was asking if I was okay. I'm still recovering.
It s really fucking cute!Bard why are u so charming even you only put your hand in water and yelling! XD
Why ?tell me!why ylvis is so funny
Faen! Faen! Lots of small fish and pleasant things Satan! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I'm dead.
Calle Looks like Edge in WWE performing exorcism.
I think the only reason why Bard won is that he hates losing :)
åå mamma se så fin blomst !XD
thank you so much for the subs!
LOL the last SATAN that calle says soo funny
If this had no English subs, this would be so weird.
If this had no English subs, it would still be just as epic!
I've watched both ways, it's awesome regardless. Also, I learned lots of new swear words in Norwegian.
Yes, that's true! I also have learned some new words.
In the clip immediately following, poor Vegard has to play the guitar..he suffers a little :)
Bard: 2:38 .. xD
i love you ylvis ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It was later revealed that Calle had a much higher pain tolerance than the others.

Nope he was only speaking Norsk, some words' spelling and sounding is like English :)
***** I don't really know Norsk but "spawn of satan, I fucking hate you" sounds pretty english to me.
I... I... wish I understood Norsk :( yet can't even write correct English :(
LOL
