You said Adam did a good job. I say that was a dramatic, passionate, intense, emotional performance. It was absolutely magnificent.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Adam & Queen in concert. Adam is just incredible!!
Brian and Roger love Adam, and also love that they can again play to sell-out crowds in the venues they used to play with Freddie. Adam's addition has brought Queen's music back to the forefront and given the older and newer generations the pleasure of discovering or rediscovering Queen, and their amazing catalog of songs.
Thank you for that. Since Freddie never got to perform this song live I feel that Adam in honoring him by putting his heart and soul into singing this. I love it. We get to hear this music live and alive again.

For everyone that says Adam is not Freddie the reverse is true. Why does there have to be a comparison? Music is art as you said. Adam gives me goosebumps, so in these times hooray for that! Without the Freddie/Adam debate, I absolutely love seeing Brian and Roger still performing, still rocking the big crowds, Roger’s son drums with them and that is special, Spike is there. John isn’t and that is sad to me. But it is a part of the Queen Legacy and I love it for all of that. Happen to love Freddie, I love Adam too, I am just open to anything Queen. 💗
True it’s rare to see a rock legends still touring and going strong. As long as they still love performing and people still love going multi their concerts.
Who really cares if it’s not 100% of the original members? Freddie is dead, he can no longer tour with them. John chose to retire and prefers to just relax as well as rake in the royalties. Let them do what brings them joy. They deserve it.
I’ve been to QAL concert and it’s clear Brian and Roger still loves doing all that and Adam gels well with them. Crowd still loves them. All those whiny folks are a minority and there’s no point pleasing them. They just want people to be as miserable as they are.

Thank you Faith. This song was never sung live by Freddie, unfortunately. Adam was the first person to sing it live in the original key, and that was at the European MTV Awards in Belfast. Queen were given Global Icon awards, and they had Adam appear with them for the first time since Idol. They did a medley of this plus Rock You and Champions, and it was totally unannounced. Adam sang the first 2 minutes in the shadows, and most of the people who were there had no idea who was singing, but people freaked, and most loved it.

Faith, why are you trying to justify liking Adam's performance? If there are still people that hate that Adam is their lead singer after hearing this performance, then they are forever biased by their love of Freddie and nothing will sway their opinion of Adam. Don't bother trying to talk to them. Adam is wonderful as Queens lead singer and if they cannot accept that Freddie is gone and Adam is the best lead singer they have had since Freddie passed away, then just let them wallow in their misery instead of enjoying the number one rock band in the world once again.
I agree. I look at it that Queen have been lucky to have 2 great frontmen. One for the 20th century, one for the 21st century. I also think Adam will be remembered for his role in Queen’s history.

I don't think it's appropriate to compare the two on this particular track, given the circumstances of the original recording.
Adam is not Fredie, but Fredie couldnt be Adam as well. Both interesting and poverful personalities on stage, with amazing but different type of voices. Shouldnt be compared at all. Thank you for this reaction of video, i think you dont need to apology for your reaction, to apology for who you are or like. You cant make happy all the people on this planet. You are to nice, i must say. People should have more respect for others opinion and not try to start a war just because someone is different or think diff.
Great reaction. Anyone that gets annoyed about someone else singing these songs needs to remember that Freddie wrote them and it would do him a disservice never to perform them again.
What I liked in the Show Must Go On Documentary Bryan said he received a lot of emails when Adam was on American Idol saying he was their next front man. Roger did as well and their keyboard player called them and told them he saw Adam on AI and said they should consider him as well.

Freddie never sang this song live. He was only able to do one run-through because he was so sick. They took that back to the studio and were able to work with it and them to do a studio recorded version. But in this case with Adam, you are actually seeing the first live singer. Thanks for doing this!
This song has been performed many times by different performers, including women. Adam is definitely not the first.

Adam was the first person to sing this with Queen in the key it was written in.
Adam fits like a glove! What he has with Queen is a match made in heaven. He's the GFG (Gift from God) pure and simple! After you finish "Days of our lives documentary, I highly recommend you check out another documentary on Netflix called "The Show must go on- the Queen and Adam Lambert story." You have to check out his American idol rendition of Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta love! We all know Adam is not Freddy, even Adam knows he will never be Freddy, but Brian and Roger are having fun and they are in their 70's, and if Adam helps them achieve them being happy then so be it. Adam is a great singer.

I love this version, and I’m thrilled that this reviewer loves it. But we’re eight years in to the partnership between Queen & Adam Lambert. Most of the video is spent justifying liking it. Borders on apologizing for loving it. The ones still trashing Adam are labeled Freddie necrophiliacs in my world and after all this time and over 200 live performances I’m out of patience with them. Either enjoy and appreciate the band in its current incarnation or crawl back into your crypt with Freddie and your cassette tape collection. If you love it, just talk about why it’s so good - Adam’s range, versatility, flawless control, vocal style and interpretation, etc. Listening to someone drone on justifying enjoying something despite it not being Freddie is a waste of time. There may have been a place for it when they were doing their first full shows in Kiev and at Hammersmith Apollo but we’re all way past that.

When you write this bullshit, think a million times. The fact that now Adam has the opportunity to perform with Roger and Brian, sing these great songs, have more new fans, is a great merit of Freddie and he cannot be left behind. Adam is a great musician and he performs well with Queen this fall, but I ask you to respect the great musician Freddie Mercury.

It’s not just the history and familiarity that makes stepping in so hard. It’s the feel of the song ... I agree Adam does it his way and he does a great job.
The problem is we (in my opinion) have heard this sung by the most incredible vocalist ever ... not talking technicalities of pitch, tone, timbre.. am talking about the feel, the passion, the very real feeling of grittiness and experience in the overall delivery. Adam is an amazingly good singer and he has all these qualities except raw grittiness - there is something that is conveyed in Freddie’s voice which is very rare indeed
That grittiness maybe a unique ability to make the listener aware this is an experienced shared not just conveyed ... Feel not just hear real experience of hardship, of political and social injustice, of deep rooted and socially accepted prejudices ... its in Fred’s voice .
Bear in mind this is what I hear and am only speaking from my point of view!

You're right. You've heard it from Adam Lambert. And btw this performance here isn't even his best one.
When you're talking about feelings you're talking about the tragedy of Freddie and of him recording his swan song. This song. It's absolutely perverse to demand the same from Lambert. You were very nice in your expression and yet I think you have no clue what you are asking and comparing.

I have seen Adam 3 times live 2016 Isle of Wight and London 2017 and 2018 ... Excellent.
I have also seen Queen with Freddie numerous times starting at the NEC in 1979 and the last time at Knebworth 1986. I also saw them at Wembley (on the Saturday night) that year as well.
My opinions come from seeing both live and being there, not just trolling others on the internet.
What I will not do is allow somebody else to mansplain my own feelings to me. Back off!

Adam is great. Great voice. But he sings very unsuccessfully songs of such caliber as Тhe show must go on. It's a rock song, but he doesn't sing it like a rock song. He doesn't feel this song. The soul does not freeze from his singing. People love Freddie's performance not for the high notes, but for the feelings that he put into the songs. Freddie sang with his soul and body. He was real and that's why he is loved and remembered 30 years after his death.
Adam as a vocalist, he can possibly do even more than Freddie, but his singing is not TAKE MY BREATH AWAY.
