    Everyone paid by tax dollars should be required to serve Canada for 25 years in order to earn a pension. Your soldiers do. Parliament should be mandated to six years or two full terms, split time allowed. That would leave them with nineteen years to commit to their pension.

    • @geekinasuit8333
      @geekinasuit8333 Месяц назад

      They should NOT earn a pension when incomes are as high as theirs are. The more I earn, the less I get back from the huge taxes collected from me. I only get taxed much higher, get even less access to what little benefits there still are left, and instead of being rewarded for my years of risk taking and hard work contributing to Canada's economy, I get punished with even more onerous taxation, vilified much more, and pissed on with less ability to contribute back with new investments. Years ago, I never imagined that one day I'd be planning an escape from Canada, but it's begun, and I expect that I'm not alone.

    • @linejumper8204
      @linejumper8204 Месяц назад

      @@geekinasuit8333 This leads me to believe that you expect people to leave the private sector at a personal loss. Of course I would prefer more selflessness as the military members do to serve. Perhaps converting politicians pay to the military pay scale would be adequate. The PM can be equalized to the Chief of Defense Staff and peg the remaining MPs down from that.
      Their personal staff can be downsized equally accordingly.
      Public servants minus military needs an 80% reduction in order to pay down the past decades spending.

      "August 2020, Trudeau tapped Carney to serve as an "informal adviser" on the government's pandemic recovery plan.
      April 2021 marked Carney's official coming out as a card-carrying Liberal, delivering a keynote speech praising many of the party's policies, and ratcheting up the speculation he was considering getting his name on a ballot.
      Following the speech, Nanos Research chair Nik Nanos told CTV News Trend Line that Carney would add "a lot of credibility on the fiscal front to the Liberals," while also being "a significant target for the Conservatives."

    It's not the cons. leader who's an extension of US politics it's Trudeau who is.
    Two leaders who took their respective House Speakers to court, Two leaders who caused grief for their respective capitals due to poor public comments, Two leaders who failed to provide info to committees, two leaders with a history of letting go many of their top people-Morneau, JWR, all those cabinet shuffles, the woman who wrote "Can You Hear Me Now"....
    Name calling?
    Mr. Trudeau called Pierre P. a "Spineless" leader.
    It's Trudeau who's an extension of US politics.

    Arbitrary term limits are not the answer. Trudeau was wildly popular for one election, but was able to be so because Harper allowed him to claim that he was the defender of the middle class.
    Reducing GST from 7% to 5% brought Conservatives back in 2006, and he needed something similarly big in 2015.

    Immigration to Canada should of been a benefit to local citizens but the opposite has occurred. While local citizens are living paycheck to paycheck most migrants coming to Canada receive a lot more benefits then local citizens. Migrants coming to Canada have their own community members to join to assist them and the government is supporting those same communities in order to promote immigration. Unfortunately I don't know of local citizens having a community group to join to help in every day living.

    Trudeau is too far gone, his usual tricks that used to work extremely well and fooled many Canadian's in past elections (myself included, I'll own up to my own mistakes), are falling flat this time around. There's the saying, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. No one will be shamed this time around. BTW, I was impressed by O'Toole's interview, his views were respectful and well-rounded.

  • @kacey357

    I disagree that Trudeau handled the interaction with the steel worker well. He acted like a used car salesman. When someone is upset with you, it’s not a good idea to start sticking your finger in their face and coming back defensively. He needed to stop talking and start listening. And that’s one of Trudeau’s biggest problems. He always thinks he’s right and not only refuses to listen, he threatens censorship and wants dissenting voices quieted altogether. He has no idea how nervous Canadians are about this one issue, of freedom of speech, thought and opinion. As a leader, he has failed miserably in this regard. And when Canadians rightly raised the alarm about the mismanagement of immigration he called us racist. How selfish we were to try and protect our schools, healthcare, housing etc. Average Canadians understood very well that you cannot fast track an influx of millions of people without first upgrading the infrastructure required to accommodate such a population increase. Anxiety really ramped up when Canadians realized that students arriving on a visa from other countries were not vetted to verify their identity, and educational claims. So many ‘students’ never reported to campuses at all while others showed up for short periods of time and went one of two ways. One group got a job, dropped out of school and applied for permanent residency (This group was not the ones we should have worried about however, other than the fact they used a back door to gain access to the country, bypassing others who’d been waiting their turn). The larger group we all should be alarmed and angry about is the one made up of hoodlums who had no intention of ever going to school in Canada. They either joined up with friends already in the country or created their own little criminal empires. I mean what else do you think a young uneducated man is going to do to survive as an illegal in Canada? Live off the proceeds of crime, obviously. Mainly the drug and gun trade. Others are sophisticated thiefs, scammers, and blackmailers who are hard to detect, investigate and prosecute because they are literally nameless and faceless and the police have no idea how to track down these thugs. Where do you start with people who use aliases, don’t file taxes and the only people who could rat them out are their criminal buddies who also don’t legally exist. These are things Trudeau simply does not get. When people say he’s ruined the country, Justin has never bothered to ask why they think so. Poilievre’s conservatives will need a very long term in office to start to clean up the mess they’ll inherit from Trudeau’s liberals.
