RSA is not the only method of end-to-end encryption, and as Mental said you can literally do encryption on a piece of paper if it comes to that. What are they going to do to stop me from sending a manually encrypted message over the internet? Or just use software on my own device to do it?
      My SSD running Linux is also encrypted. Are they going to ban all operating systems that have an option to encrypt their traffic? It is literally a pipe dream. Sure, it will take more effort and knowledge on how to actually perform encryption (which idk they might crack down on that too, if we're going actual dystopia mode), and droves of data will be compromised because whatever backdoor they come up with will be exploitable by attackers, but they can't force me to comply with it.

      The way that unenforceable laws work is that almost everybody is, by default, violating them. The government will look the other way and ignore you unless you do something ELSE that they dislike, such as being on the "wrong" side of a debate/issue. Then when you get arrested, they'll use obscure laws nobody knows about to add more penalties to your sentence.

    A great example of gov not protecting children is the "cash for kids" judge who was taking kick backs to escalate charges against minors to fill detention centers. Law and order SVU even made an episode about it. The episode is called "Crush" and stars... wait for it... Ezra Miller of all people. Ezra miller who held a family with minors hostage and happens to be walking free staring in movies right this second.

    Soon cloud computing and cloud storage will get so powerful that governments will outlaw privately hosted files on hardware. All computers will be required to host all of the file data in online cloud infrastructure where law enforcement or corporations would be able to "background check" you. Corporations would be able to run machine learning algorithms to detect copyright violations and remove files directly from your PC. It will become impossible to own copywritten content without a license.

    How about we just restrict access to the internet for children? We all know it's extremely detrimental to development anyways. It would actually work (somewhat), no privacy issues, and it would fix Ipad baby syndrome!
    Maybe I'm bias because I greatly benefited from not being allowed to watch tv or use the internet until I was 12. Just seems like a good idea

      @corruptedvortex4425 Do you really think the skills required to have an online life require much training? It's not exactly complicated. I doubt their skills would be far behind. I've got a bachelor's in computer scientist, my upbringing was no obstacle.
      I know 12 is still a child. Restrictions would need to be specific, not just based on if you are under 18, and certainly not based on my childhood.

    Seen people argue that its not a violation to our right of privacy since we dont make the app, its provided by someone else and therefore isnt protected. Most people dont make their homes. What if the government made a bill that required homebuilders to have a way to catch and report crimes inside of homes they built? All new homes have to have cameras to monitor and make sure child exploitation isnt happening inside the home they built. Its no different

    There are actually USPS (possibly other carriers as well) shipping centers that occasionally open and search mail that comes their way. So snail mail packages aren’t guaranteed secure if they pass through one of the major cities that has one of these mail search centers.

    I used to work at the secret service and in the late 90's they brought in the guy who created pgp to ask him if he would put in a backdoor for them. He got up, didn't say a word, and just left. Imagine if the big tech companies had just a sliver of integrity as this man.
    All backdoors weakens software because it will eventually be discovered by hackers. What's app uses end to end encryption but they hold the private keys and can read all your messages.
