Brother, you've probably done this or thought to do it--I'm sure lots of people are doing it some--but for two months a few years back I made it my goal to not get any news. I didn't consume much compared to others, but even so I saw a huge difference in my outlook and general contentment after just about a week. I probably annoyed people but I started telling it to everyone like it was gospel :D But anyway, I'll be doing it again after November--don't know for how long, but it'll probably be a couple months of that. I grew up in a family where I was cast aside even into my adult life and by others. I was always viewed as never good enough. That leaves wounds. All I ever wanted was to be loved instead of being thrown away and viewed as something worthless. The day I was saved my life changed. I knew for the first in my life I was truly loved unconditionally by God, my real Father. I've never really had much in my life. If I needed something I had to save to get it. It is the little things in life that matter the most. Like watching a sunset or picking wildflowers over store bought. They mean more. A picture drawn or painted by my grandchildren means a lot to me. Spending time with my grandchildren is way better than having everything you think you need. I love sitting at the table visiting with them, painting and drawing or just laughing and giggling. That is worth more than all the money in the world or the best car, clothers or jewelry, etc...out there. It's the simple things that speak volumes. Like saying, thank you, I'm sorry, forgive me and I love you. The rest is just stuff. Real dreams come true when you put your life, time and love on the line for those who value you for you and not what you can give them. The only person we really need in the middle of everything in our lives is Jesus. No Jesus. No life. This is what I have discovered in my life after years of trying to fit in but cast aside. Then Jesus saved me. I may not have it all together but with Jesus, I have what I need... I have it all. I am the richest person on the planet because He loves me. That's enough! For anyone else, or even myself… I’ve been pretty hard on myself as well. I’m thankful that Jesus has come into my life though, I surely still have lots of work to do. But like you said, Jesus is enough for me. I don’t want to chase after money or material possessions or a high anymore! It’s all just so empty and in the end you feel worse than before. Having a significant other who does not have the same calling may not understand the time spent praying, reading, and growing your relationship with the Lord. That kind of tension can be stressful when you know what the Lord expects of you, but your significant other may be demanding of your time.

They will throw it on the ground and say they only want dollar bills. i say 4 quarters add up to 1 dollar. Now I hear a lot of people say they don't want to give anybody anything. 😞

As a woman I’ve been guilty of this in the past. It was mainly because my parents way of showing me love was buying me stuff when I really just wanted to be heard, seen, and understood. So when I cried as a little girl, they bought me things. As an adult I’ve found myself with narcissistic men who only had money to offer and buying me things. My last relationship was the worst! All I want now is love, support, respect, and to be with a true man who belongs to God and has a light in him. He know what long suffering is like and who loves God as much as I do and who will love me the same way God loves us. Sure I want a traditional relationship where I raise my kids and a husband provides but we will be help mates making this already difficult life easier for each other and our kids. Serving God and living righteous.

As a woman I’ve been guilty of this in the past. It was mainly because my parents way of showing me love was buying me stuff when I really just wanted to be heard, seen, and understood. So when I cried as a little girl, they bought me things. As an adult I’ve found myself with narcissistic men who only had money to offer and buying me things. My last relationship was the worst! All I want now is love, support, respect, and to be with a true man who belongs to God and has a light in him. He know what long suffering is like and who loves God as much as I do and who will love me the same way God loves us. Sure I want a traditional relationship where I raise my kids and a husband provides but we will be help mates making this already difficult life easier for each other and our kids. Serving God and living righteous.

We can always accept the situation and also carry the love of Jesus Christ within us. But this world is controlled by a few and the rest are all slaves who go to work to buy housing and food. This situation has never changed.
