my Mom use to have one of those but she did not play an instrument, it came in a box she bought at Auction, it sat on the table and we would play with it! great video
Perhaps people struggle with metronomes for the same reason that I have until recently.
I always tried to play more in anticipation of the click instead of connecting to the tempo over a number of clicks. When you feel the tempo join in playing. That’s what’s meant to happen when, playing together, someone counts off “One, two, three, four.” They’re setting the tempo to connect to and keep during the coming piece of music.

I have always had trouble keeping in time using a metronome. I am off about a count at the end I never knew why. Great video on this metronome.
This was cool! I've seen quartz metronomes, but haven't come across a mechanical one since I was in elementary school. Interestingly enough, in the watch world, mechanical watches are valued over quartz ones.

Correct. I was holding it for the camera, but it should sit on a flat surface when using. Thanks for the comment.
