    DC shunt motor is widely used in so many industrial applications like in lathes due to its stiff speed characteristic i.e. its speed remain unchanged irrespective of the load or we can say form No-Load to Full-Load. Like all other types of DC motor the DC Shunt motor is also widely used in variable speed applications as it is easy to control the speed of any type of dc motor form conventional method as well as through advance technology.
    About construction of DC motors:
    The main parts of DC shunt motors are 1) Stator: consist of Outer frame and field winding and 2) Rotor or Armature: it consist of Shaft, Armature Core, Armature winding and commutator.
    About Working of DC motor:
    It works on the principle of Lorentz Law, which states that “the current carrying conductor placed in a magnetic and electric field experience a force”. And that force is called the Lorentz force.

      DC motor pr bhi 4 poles creat kanre hoge uske liye 4 brushes lagane hoge .
      Or slots jitne hoge utne hi commutator segments (split rings)
      Slots ka pole number se koi direct relation nai hota.

      Depends on winding type

      This way the armature knows number of filed poles.
      for example if we use only two brushes placed in vertical axis then all left side conductor will carry current in one direction and the conductors of right side will carry current in opposite direction, then. compare this with the example of 4 pole machine shown in this video then you could find that the top and bottom field poles will not contribute any torque.
      I will try to cover this point in up coming videos.

      there are two ways :-
      1. see the terminal box whether the field terminal and armature terminal is in series or parallel.
      2. see the field winding whether it is made up of thick wire with less turn or thin wire with more turn.
      i hope now u r able to identify a dc series and shunt machine
