    I would suggest having the skyscrapers in the new area of the city include some 1930's New York architecture "Art Deco" style/vibes. That could retain the "classy" feeling that is so pervasive in the other part of the city while still being modern, and avoid having just grey rectangles.

    most modern cities have grown up around a large river or body of water, maybe the new one could have a large river running through it? could really add character to the landscape while still allowing a modern look. Really great work all around, loving every addition.

    In the "modeltrain world" you have shadowstations. Those are multiple hidden tracks with switches where you can "store" your trains so it looks they are travelling to other places. And then you let train by train appear on the "stage" when you want. It looks more realistic when they are not just going round and round...maybe it's a idea for your project :)

    Airports are cool to fill a large area fast. I think they tend to be quite empty looking and might not fit in once the city is filled in. Maybe consider removing the airport later once you run out of room. For now it will be a great way to add a lot fast.

  • @IanCarlson-v5z
    @IanCarlson-v5z Год назад +5

    I LOVE the attention to detail with the buffer stop, most people would have built the little rail end block thingy, and then moved on, which is what you see almost everywhere, adding the little buffers adds quite a bit of realism to the city.

  • @rkniner
    @rkniner Год назад +10

    The runway looks like it's a bit close to the tall buildings in the mock-up at 1:22, especially since it looks like it's pointing right at the buildings. I'd suggest adding a bit of a buffer between the end of the runway and raising it up above ground level (probably more the latter since real runways require a LOT of empty space around them).

    A small and humble suggestion: when the time comes, why not extend your train to the airport terminal, as it is quite common in most city airports to have a direct line to the city.

    i love that at 6:38 you can see the train through that red building, its little bit unrealistick to see that but it added so much depth to the city and added that big city car reflection from shop windows effect vibe, if you could incorporate more such things to the city it would bring the city so much more to the life

    Your lego city is absolutely crazy with all the tiny details, but when the train goes around the houses in the back you cn see it for like 3 seconds at 6 :39 under the red house, maybe you can cover it up by expanding the red house or something like this.

This will be a good addition for the future museum visitors. And would give you an excuse to build the interior of the tunnels. Also you could make use of your underground train station moc that you showed a few videos ago. Ps
    The miniature moc of your miniature city is nuts!❤

  • @frtls

    Not sure if the multi-room train is still a thing, but this could work with a tunnel as well... What if the train exiting the room/tunnel transition was a different style to match the current area? Would be quite the challenge to route the outgoing train style back to its starting location all below the table. Easier with one way tracks like the multi-room transition.
    Could also add a transition to below ground going into the modern city. Build subway stops with a small mirror setup inside to see the subway go by below the road?

    This was a great update, loved the animated preview of future plans and ideas. However, I don't know if others will agree, but I feel that using that huge space for airport would be a bit of a waste 😕 You could build a breathtaking modern part of the city in that area. Maybe connect it with the old town with a big Golden Gate style bridge, and everything in between could be water? So that means maybe to fit the airport right next to the village. Love you chanel man, it's my favourite part of the week.

    If you want some inspiration for a modern city that isn't as Europeans in style/architecture, I'd genuinely give downtown Detroit a look. It has a surprising amount of open green spaces, with a more axle and spoke design as apposed to the more prevalent American grids. With a wide selection of modern to early 20th century buildings to take inspiration from I think it would be a cool choice.

    As a transit fan, I would move the smaller train stop near the cable car station, to allow people to transfer directly from the train to the cable car.
    I would also make only short local train stop there and let intercity trains just skip that stop.
    Other idea: because you have a central double track section, I would make trains ride on both sides in opposite directions and make each other wait at the end of the double track: this would give so much realism to the model.

    From a logistical standpoint, not sure if it's been suggested yet - but from the train station in the village, make a small pedestrian bridge over the tracks and then a path that leads to the lift station. This would make sense since there's not a large lot for parking next to the lift, so that people have easy access to the lift still.

    About the cable cart station and the lack of parking spots you mentioned that the tourists will have to arrive via bus or train. I think that is a great idea. From what I see your city is missing any sort of bus transportation. It would be lovely to add a bunch of bus stops so that the citizens can travel withing a specific area with public transport. It will also allow you to offer access (such as the cable cart station) that would otherwise be very difficult or even nonsensical to access otherwise. In the example with the cable cart station you can add a small bus stop right on the side of the main road, where tourists can disembark the bus and cover a very short distance on foot so that they reach the cable cart.

    Unbelievable work as always. I really enjoy how you explain everything behind your planning.
    Please include some rock climbers on the mountain or a rock climbing gym in your new urban area if you can. :D

    Future urban area with a canal would be cool, maybe inspiration taken from Amsterdam? Oooh, you could lower the canal down like you did the harbor...(like a channel cut into the table, with a box built underneath to hold the canal and walls)...you could have bridges going across....that would be a lot of work though!

    Amazing video as usual. Drawing the plan over the video is a great idea! What about dust? Keeping it clean can be a nightmare.

    Brickcrafts, I love your work and love that you haven't been letting passive aggressive comments get to your mindset on the city, suggestions of what could be added instead of something you enjoy.

    This looks incredible. I would suggest some sort of rail yard/shed somewhere visible, to help sell that it’s a working railway.

    Watching this I had a thought, you’ll probably hang a cloth to cover up the gaps between the table and the floor - but what about a sheer cliff Lego face that’s meant to represent underground? Then you could add sections under the table such as a mine that has a working elevator to the surface, or even a ‘hell’ section with red led’s? And inversely from the ceiling you could hang a plane that performs a loop not just over the city but where visitors would stand? And possibly even a heaven section (clouds, angels etc) to mirror a hell section? Use all the space you have!
