Cafes like Oberlaa, Sacher, Central etc. are nice and have tradition, but besides of the name, the (maybe) old place and the hype among tourists... we locals don't visit those cafes... the reason is... there are so many other cafes in Vienna, that are better! Also have a traditional "vibe" and "feeling" to it... and not that expensive! Sou pay the name ... like for clothes from various designers.... you pay a "furtune" for really "nothing". I have been borne and raised in Vienna... I am 50 years young... and I have never been to Cafe Centrale, Cafe Sacher, Fieglmüller or any of those locations. And the original "Sacher Torte" is overrated!
I also live in Vienna for over 10 years now & of course these cafes are not the ones I regularly visit but I do go there every now & then. I have many other videos, where I show hidden spots & more modern cafes in Vienna. But this one is all about my favorite traditional cafes. And the Sachertorte is actually one of my favorite cakes 🙈 Everyone has a different taste & different preferences and that’s ok :)
@@neslihancan That's ok, of course! If those are your favorite cafes and locations in Vienna... who am I to tell you otherwise? They have all tradition, flair and everything... we are proud of those old places... they have history... REAL history... like restaurants in Vienna that are 250 years old or in a building and cellars that are way older. BUT... they are tourist spots! Long lane of people outside waiting for want? 55,- for 2 coffes and 2 pieces of cake??? Cakes that you can also get elsewhere? Better ones? That's like buying clothes!!! The more expensive they get, the more people want (and can't effort) them! But it is all about prestige!!!! Why should I buy a top from a designer, that costs me 10x and plus than the almost same top from a normal shop? Why should I pay for "THE NAME"?? "The Name" gets richer and richer and richer ... while I spent money and money and money ... There are a LOTS of cafes, restaurats etc in Austria/Vienna, that serves you AS EQUAL or BETTER than the traditional locations!!!
@@magnoliads2547hi do you have any names you could share of more authentic local cafes? We’re traveling with my parents and paying for the whole trip would love to save money where it’s not necessary to spend. Sounds like most of the tourist places truly are overrated! And we have children I’m not for waiting in lines all the time lol
