  • This is actually a quick video, literally, it's a video of a swift caravan sunroof being fitted.
    (I left the music out of this one)

    This was really interesting to watch, somewhat therapeutic, very akin to the successful TV series 'How do they do it?" More of these please.

    Ive had 2 swift based bessacarrs that have both gone back to the factory. The first one, a 2010 based on a conqueror went back twice. The sunroof leaked within the furst few months. The second time was the renowned leak under the front gutter and bottom sides. My current one, a 2016 elegance based model went back for the sunroof and in picking it up i was told about the key bonding. This was around 3 years ago and seems to be ok. Vans that go back to the factory have other work done that they think necessary. Mine had a new rear panel which i believe was abs and replaced with grp. Despite the iss8, ive been pretty happy with Swift's customer service. Living on the south coast, they paid for an overnight stay and fuel allowance. I thought about replacing it but just couldn't face paying 50k. With a trade in, ud have to find what i paid for mine! Its a 570 layout and we're happy with that. To be fair the new price tag included aircon, self levelling and a mover. Ive noticed theyve got a couple of single axle models, one reduced by 4k, the other 7k!. Tempting but with the state the world's in at the moment, you never know how long caravanning will go on for.

      Crikey, are they reducing them that much? Not a good sign.

    Very interesting. Will you be doing a video on how to repair damp floors on Bailey caravans?

      My camera hasn’t got a big enough memory card😅, I’ll give the next one a go, it would be an interesting watch.

    We were told it was a 5 hour labour charge. We have also been waiting nearly three months now and still not had a decision from Swift. It is very poor customer service to be waiting this long

    • @atlanticcaravansUK
      @atlanticcaravansUK  Месяц назад

      The decision by Swift is normally done in the same day, or at least within 48 hours. You might have to wait for the parts to be delivered but not a decision.

      @@David-kf2rw yeah, I’d ask again. It can take that time to do it though, this chap does them all the time, he’s a bit good at it.

    The sun roof is just a fashion item really. Why have holes in the roof when they are not necessary? On a yacht, through hull fittings are always an issue and are to be avoided wherever possible. When they go wrong the boat sinks!

    Great video👍 when he removed the old sunroof, there appeared to be a smaller section of sunroof being removed from the aperture before the wide dark layer was removed. I didn’t see him replace the inner part? Is it integral to the dark wider piece?

    Obviously a failure during the development phase of the sunroof. The need to key the GRP should have been determined before the sunroof feature was launched.
