- Annnnddd it's time for this one. Another one of Series 2's one off themes like the Diseasel (Trick) Theme and The Busy Harbour Theme from the beginning of 'Plunge'. It's a fun and bouncy one without a doubt though, I like how it has small pieces of Berties' Theme in there, possibly a call back to Thomas & Bertie's Race from the previous series.

I remember in the RWS version of this story, it was mentioned that Percy went so fast, the guard spilled the tea his wife had made for him. First the fireman of the train Henry ran into, and now Percy's guard. It seems nobody can have a drink in a brake van on Sodor.

Percy loved it. “Oh thank you sir!” He liked the last line best of all, and was a very happy engine.
Said Harold Helicopter to our Percy, "You are slow. Your railway is out of date and not much use, you know." But Percy with his stone trucks did the trip in record time, aaaaand we beat the helicopter on our own branch line.

The original version SA did, it sung that on the bottom of the screen, but with the screen change, I guess it’s gone.
I love the incorporation of Harold’s theme, it just makes the whole song better. I also love the little ditty that Percy’s driver sang at the end.
"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" He panted to the trucks.
"We don't want to, we don't want to," They grumbled.
But it was no use. For Percy was bucketing along with flying wheels, and Harold was high and alongside!

I love this theme so much. The thrill and excitement of seeing Percy and Harold racing along. I love the bit where you hear:
"PEEP PEEP PEEP PEEP! BRAKES! GUARD PLEASE!"

This is one of my favorite theme songs from Season 2. You definitely got the instrumental right note-for-note on this one. Percy & Harold's race theme reminds me of a real-world train-plane race and would go brilliantly in a montage or documentary about that race, and that race may have been the inspiration for the Reverend W. Awdry to write the original Railway Series story of Percy & Harold's race. It reminds me of the race from Washington to New York of the Pennsylvania Railroad's E6 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam locomotive #460 pulling the train with the film of Charles Lindbergh's welcome-home party that was in Washington. That locomotive of course went only as far as Harrison, NJ; where an electric locomotive took over the rest of the way to New York. It raced an airplane carrying footage of the same party that also headed to New York. But the film from the train was the first to be shown at the New York theaters.
Did the train win the race, or the airplane?
@@amtrak2026 Technically the plane won the race as it was the first to arrive in New York, if you look at it in a geographical-and-time sense like you would a street race or drag race. But when it comes to getting the job and business done, the train won the race since the goods (the film) it was carrying made it to the New York theaters first.

This is right up there with The Flying Kipper Theme in terms of one-off Thomas themes. Proper feels.
